Serving as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live is quite a huge deal, and some of our favorite artists will get to hit that iconic stage this fall. The roster of the first hosts and musical guests for the landmark 50th season has been unveiled, and it includes the likes of Billie Eilish and Chappell Roan.

Season 50 of the iconic sketch comedy will kick off on September 28, with host Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll. The country star is gearing up for the release of his new album Beautifully Broken, which he promoted with singles “I Am Not Okay” and “Get By”.

Comedian Nate Bargatze will take the SNL stage on October 5 alongside Coldplay, who are fresh off their record-breaking Music of the Spheres World Tour and setting the stage for their new album Moon Music.

Ariana Grande will also be a part of Season 50, but she’ll be hosting this time around, while the rock legend Stevie Nicks will join her as a musical guest on October 12.

Billie Eilish will return to Studio 8H on October 19 with the host Michael Keaton, after a series of tour dates at the Madison Square Garden this fall. Chappell Roan will make her SNL debut alongside John Mulaney on November 2, after blowing up this summer with viral hits “Hot To Go!” and “Good Luck, Babe!”

2024 is shaping up to be a life-changing year for Raye, and she just reached another major career milestone. The recent six-time Brit Awards winner made her Saturday Night Live debut, and knocked us off our feet with powerful renditions of “Escapism” and “Worth It”.

It’s been over a year since the release of Raye’s long-awaited debut studio album My 21st Century Blues, and she’s still making waves with this record. After dominating this year’s Brit Awards with historic six wins, Raye was invited to serve as a musical guest on the latest episode of SNL, hosted by Kristen Wiig.

After the episode aired, she shared her rendition of “Worth It” on social media. She captioned it by writing “just a little south London girl performing on SNL”, followed by a series of crying emojis, and added she’s lost for words after her performance on the iconic sketch show.

Raye also delivered a jazz-inspired rendition of her breakout hit “Escapism”. This breakup anthem came out in late 2022, and went on to become a viral sensation, hitting No. 1 in her home country of the UK. It also won her a prize for song of the year at this year’s Brit Awards, where she also won a trophy for the British artist of the year and album of the year for My 21st Century Blues.

Reneé Rapp made her Saturday Night Live debut this past weekend—and she didn’t have to do it all alone. She was joined by the Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion for the electrifying live performance of their Mean Girls single “Not My Fault”.

Rapp was chosen as the first SNL musical guest of 2024, shortly after the release of Paramount’s Mean Girls musical remake, in which she plays Regina George. Ahead of the film’s release, she joined forces with Megan Thee Stallion for the catchy bop “Not My Fault”, which was featured in the film’s credits.

Rapp and Stallion joined forces for the first live performance of this song on SNL, and they were introduced by none other than Rachel McAdams, who played Regina George in the original Mean Girls film. Stallion is no stranger to the SNL stage, and she served as a musical guest twice, in addition to pulling double duty in 2022.

Rapp also delivered a moving performance of “Snow Angel”, the title song from her debut studio album of the same name, which hit the shelves last summer. Its deluxe edition came out in November and featured three new songs, including the “Tummy Hurts” remix featuring Coco Jones.

Serving as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live is quite a badge of honor, and their lineup this year was as impressive as it gets. From Olivia Rodrigo to Tate McRae, we’re bringing you five SNL performances that knocked us off our feet throughout 2023.

Sam Smith: “Unholy ft. Kim Petras”

Sam Smith delivered the first SNL performance of 2023 alongside Kim Petras. This rendition of “Unholy” was pretty tame compared to some of their other performances, but that added to its charm.

Karol G: “Mientras Me Curo Del Cora”

We can count on Karol G to knock it out of the park every time she hits the stage, and she impressed us with two completely different takes on “Tus Gafitas” and “Mientras Me Curo Del Cora “ during her time on SNL.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny is the only SNL host to pull double duty in 2023, and he delivered an epic performance of “Un Preview” and “Monaco” in addition to hosting the show.

Olivia Rodrigo: “All-American B—h”

Olivia Rodrigo brought pop-punk energy to the SNL stage with a theatrical rendition of “All-American B—h”, which included everything from glass breaking to cake smashing.

Tate McRae: “Greedy”

Tate McRae gave us one of the biggest viral hits of 2023 with “Greedy” and her amazing dance skills were on full display in this electrifying live performance.

We can count on Olivia Rodrigo to give it her all every time she hits the stage, but she managed to exceed our wildest expectations on Saturday Night Live. Her second SNL performance was one for the books, and she delivered a true tour de force with amazing renditions of her hits “Vampire” and “All-American B—h”.

Rodrigo made her SNL debut in 2021 when she was riding on the coattails of her debut album Soar. The 20-year-old singer repeatedly said that its follow-up Guts was written with a tour in mind, and judging by her SNL performance—epic things will happen once she finally hits the road.

Rodrigo kicked off her performance with the stripped-down version of the chart-topping single “Vampire”. She set behind a piano in a dazzling silver dress for a powerful rendition of this soaring ballad, and let her vocals shine with no background singers or other instruments to support her.

Just when we thought her second performance couldn’t possibly be any better, Rodrigo delivered a masterclass in female rage with the theatrical rendition of “All-American B—h”. From dramatically stabbing a cake and smearing it all over her face to chaotically dancing on a dinner table, she did a great job capturing the edgy energy of this pop-punk anthem and made us fall in love with it all over again.

There are only three Saturday Night Live episodes left until the end of 2023, and the final musical guests have been chosen. Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish will perform on the last two episodes of the popular sketch comedy show before SNL rings in a new year.

Rodrigo will take the SNL stage on December 9, alongside the host Adam Driver, who’s promoting his new film Ferrari. She made her Saturday Night Live debut in 2021, and having her perform right now is a pretty “logical” choice given the success of her sophomore studio album Guts.

As for Billie Eilish, she’ll be a part of what’s shaping up to be a Barbie-themed episode on December 16, since she’ll perform alongside Kate McKinnon. The SNL alum starred in Greta Gerwig’s box office smash hit earlier this year, while Eilish recorded the song “What Was I Made For?”, which went on to receive Grammy nods for the record and song of the year.

Rodrigo and Eilish will follow in the footsteps of Noah Kahan, who’s the musical guest on the December 2 episode hosted by Emma Stone. Coincidently, they’re both previous winners of the best new artist Grammy, while Kahan was nominated this year.

The list of musical guests on this season of SNL also included the rapper Ice Spice, Puerto Rican sensation Bad Bunny, rock band Foo Fighters, indie supergroup Boygenius, and rising pop star Tate McRae.

Performing on Saturday Night Live is a dream come true for any artists, and Billie Eilish reached this milestone at the age of 17 – and literally turned this show upside down in the process.

The chart-topping singer made her SNL debut during the recent premiere of Season 45, and music critics are already hailing her performance as the best one in the show’s history. She performed “Bad Guy” and “I Love You” alongside her brother Finneas O’Connell, and the first track was the one that caught everyone’s eye.

Eilish delivered her chart-topping single from a box that resembled the Grand Central station and defied gravity while inside it, by walking on the walls and jumped up and down the ceiling. Naturally, the entire thing was just an optical illusion, but that doesn’t make her performance any less impressive.

Billie Eilish will be a hard act to follow, but Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello will have to give it their best shot. The two are booked as the musical guests on the upcoming two episodes of Saturday Night Live, set to air on October 5th and 12th.

Lil Wayne
