]]>The post Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time” Becomes Longest-Running No. 1 Country Album appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>The tracking week ending on March 7 was pretty slow for new album releases, and Wallen used this to his advantage. One Thing at a Time returned to No. 1 with 68,000 equivalent album units, including 65,000 SEA units (equaling 89.63 million on-demand official streams), plus 2,000 in album sales and 1,000 TEA units.
By doing so, Wallen’s hit album returned to No. 1 for its 19th non-consecutive week, setting a major record along the way. It’s the longest-running country album atop the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing Garth Brooks’ Ropin the Wind, which spent 18 weeks at No. 1 in 1991/2.
Seeing One Thing at a Time top the Billboard 200 chart again is pretty impressive considering it’s been over a year since this album came out on March 3, 2023. Its hit single “Last Night” also did pretty great on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and spent 16 weeks on top.
As for the rest of the Billboard 200 chart, Noah Kahan’s Stick Season hit a new peak at No. 2, while the rest of the top ten consisted of former chart-topping albums, starting with Vultures 1 by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, SZA’s SOS, and Drake’s For All the Dogs.

]]>One Thing at a Time returned to the top with 61,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending on January 11, including 58,000 SEA units (equaling 79.81 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), 2,000 in album sales, and 1,000 TEA units.
The lack of major album releases at the start of January significantly contributed to Wallen’s rise to the top. This marks the the smallest number of equivalent album units that the weekly No. 1 album has seen since Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry in May 2022.
One Thing at a Time still marks the longest-running No. 1 album atop the Billboard 200 chart in over a decade, since Adele’s 21 logged 24 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2011-12.
As for the rest of the chart this week, One Thing at a Time is followed by former chart-topping album For All the Dogs by Drake, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift, and Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj, plus Noah Kahan’s Stick Season at No. 5.

They’ll be in contention for several of the same awards, including the song and album of the year, the male country artist of the year, and the concert tour of the year.
As for Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, they have both been nominated for the female artist of the year award, but they’ll have to beat tough competition in Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, Karol G, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lainey Wilson.
Swift’s nominations are pretty scattered across the categories, and she also scored nods for the social celebrity of the year and the movie of the year with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, in addition to the pop artist of the year and the concert tour of the year.
The 2024 People’s Choice Awards are scheduled to take place on February 18, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, with Simu Liu hosting the festivities.

]]>Swift picked up 10 awards at this year’s BBMAs, starting with the top artist. By doing so, she brought her total to 39 wins at the Billboard Music Awards, tying the record with Drake for most awards won by a single artist, after he picked up an additional five trophies on Sunday.
Swift tuned in via pre-recorded message from her latest The Eras Tour stop in Brazil and thanked her fans for making this triumph possible.
“Well, this is unreal. The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards – I’m talking to the fans specifically. None of this happens without you… You made The Eras Tour so magical. You went and saw the movie, you cared about my re-recordings. I just love you so much,” said Swift.
Despite making history, Swift wasn’t the ceremony’s top-winning artist this year. Morgan Wallen collected a total of 11 awards, thanks to his hit album One Thing at the Time and its chart-topping hit “Last Night”. Drake walked away with five awards, followed by Zach Bryan and SZA with four each.

]]>Wallen scored 11 nods at this ceremony, and he’s in the running in most of the major categories, including the People’s artist of the year, best male artist, best album with One Thing at a Time, and best song with “Last Night”.
Wallen’s domination doesn’t come as a huge shocker given the success of his latest album. One Thing at a Time spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart, and all of its 36 tracks entered the Billboard Hot 100. “Last Night” was definitely the biggest hit, and it spent 16 weeks atop the Hot 100 chart, as of this week.
The list of major nominees at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards also includes Luke Combs and Hardy, with nine nods each, followed by Jelly Roll with eight, Lainey Wilson with seven, and Zach Bryan and Kane Brown with six each.
The People’s Choice Country Awards will take place on September 28 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, with Little Big Town hosting the festivities.

]]>The post Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” Ties for Fifth-Longest No. 1 Song Atop Billboard Hot 100 appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>“Last Night” returned to No. 1 this week, dethroning Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, with 75.4 million radio airplay audience impressions, 28.6 million streams, and 7,000 downloads. This news comes shortly after “Last Night” made history as the first song to accrue 1 billion on-demand streams in the United States in a single year.
After 14 weeks at No. 1, “Last Night” tied the record for the fifth-longest reign in the Billboard Hot 100 history. It joins in the ranks of “Uptown Funk!” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas, and “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. The all-time record is still held by the viral hit “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.
This week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart has also been quite historic for Taylor Swift, who became the first woman to simultaneously enter the top ten with songs from three different albums – “I Can See You” from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), “Cruel Summer” from Lover, and “Karma” ft. Ice Spice from Midnights.

]]>The post Morgan Wallen Makes History as “One Thing” Returns to No. 1 for 17th Week appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>One Thing returned to No. 1 for the 15th week, with 110,500 equivalent album units sold. Wallen stopped several high-profile artists from reaching No. 1 since the release of this album, and Young Thug’s Business Is Business, Peso Pluma’s Génesis, and Kelly Clarkson’s Chemistry are among the most notable new releases charting behind him this week.
To make things even more impressive, One Thing moved 100,000 equivalent album units in all 17 of its chart weeks. This is the most weeks any album has exceeded 100,000 units since the launch of Billboard 200, breaking the record previously held by Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti.
One Thing at a Time hit the shelves on March 3, and debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 501,000 album-equivalent units, scoring the biggest week for a country album since Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version). Its single “Last Night” found equally impressive success on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and spent 13 weeks at No. 1.

]]>One Thing earned 129,000 equivalent album units during its latest week on the Billboard Hot 200, scoring its 12th consecutive week at No. 1. This number may look quite modest when compared to its debut with 501,000 album-equivalent units, but it was enough to propel Wallen to No. 1 again and continue his reign atop the Billboard 200 chart.
One Thing is the first album to spend at least 12 weeks at no. 1 since Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, which notched 13 nonconsecutive weeks atop back in 2022. It’s also the album with the most weeks at No. 1 in a row since Titanic soundtrack ruled the chart for 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 1998.
Most significantly, One Thing is now the longest-reigning No. 1 country album in over three decades, since Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All notched 17 weeks, all consecutively, atop the Billboard 200. It surpassed Taylor Swift’s Fearless, with 11 weeks on top in 2008-09, to break this record.

]]>Wallen took to social media to tell his fans he received some bad news from his doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center, who recommended vocal rest for the next six weeks. The singer revealed he’s experiencing vocal fold trauma after re-injuring his vocal cords after performing three shows last weekend in Florida.
“They told me that if I do this the right way, I’ll get back to 100% and they also said that if I don’t listen and I keep singing, then I’ll permanently damage my voice. So for the longevity of my career, this is just a choice I had to make,” he explained.
Wallen recently came under fire after canceling a concert at Vaught–Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi just minutes before he was supposed to perform. That didn’t hurt his success on the charts, and his latest album One Thing at a Time returned to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the ninth consecutive time this week.

]]>The post Morgan Wallen is Taking Six Weeks Off From Touring Due to Vocal Fold Trauma appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
