Amazing new tracks emerge every week, fighting for a spot in our hearts, and on our list of the best songs of the week. This week has certainly given us several worthy contenders, including new music by Hozier, Brandi Carlile, Usher, Reneé Rapp, and many more of our favorite artists.

Some of the week’s best new songs hail from newly released albums, starting with Hozier’s Unreal Unearth. Several of the songs from this LP were previously released as singles or featured on his EP Eat You Young, but the album itself gave us several amazing new songs, including “Damage Gets Done” ft. Brandi Carlile.

This week also marked the release of Reneé Rapp’s debut studio album Snow Angel, accompanied by the music video for “Pretty Girls”. Jon Batiste’s new album also made it to our list, and “Uneasy” ft. Lil Wayne is one of its most notable standouts.

When it comes to the viral hits for this week, Usher’s “Boyfriend” certainly created the most buzz online—mostly thanks to its Las Vegas-set music video starring Keke Palmer.

The rest of our list for this week features an interesting mix of different genres, including new music by Anitta, Charlie Puth, Thirty Seconds To Mars, The National, Jessie Reyez, and many more.

Hozier & Brandi Carlile – “Damage Gets Done”

Jon Batiste – “Uneasy ft. Lil Wayne”

Thirty Seconds To Mars – “Seasons”

Jessie Reyez – “JEANS ft. Miguel”

Usher – “Boyfriend”

Death Cab for Cutie – “An Arrow In The Wall (CHVRCHES Remix)”

Charlie Puth – “Lipstick”

Anitta – “Used To Be”

The National – “Space Invader”

Reneé Rapp – “Pretty Girls”

Lil Wayne recently set down with Billboard for a cover story in honor of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and took a moment to pay homage to some of his biggest influences. He listed his five favorite rappers of all time, but can you guess who made the cut?

Lil Wayne’s in-depth interview with Billboard saw him discussing everything from his two-decades-long career in hip-hop to artists who inspired him. When asked to list five rappers on his all-time GOAT list, he mentioned Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, UGK, Goodie Mob, and The Notorious B.I.G as his favorites.

“It’s because I organically grew up on [them]. You know, when you’re asked, ‘How’d you start listening?,’ there’s a story for everybody … like, someone I know told me to start listening or whatever. But like I said, every decision I make is organic,” he told the magazine.

Lil Wayne said his list is in “no specific order”, but he previously stated that Missy Elliot is always going to be his personal No. 1. During an appearance on Fox Sports’ What’s Wright? With Nick Wright podcast last year, the rapper said she had a huge influence on everything he’s ever done, and the duo even collaborated on several songs in the past.

Jon Batiste won album of the year at the Grammy Awards for his last studio album We Are, and he’s coming back for more!  The acclaimed singer and composer teased his next LP World Music Radio, set to feature collaborations with Lana Del Rey, Lil Wayne, and more.

Batiste described World Music Radio as a concept album that takes place in the interstellar regions of the universe, adding it will fill your soul, open your heart, and stretch your mind while expanding your vision of popular art.

“I created this album with a feeling of liberation in my life and a renewed sense of exploration of my personhood, my craft and of the world around me unlike anything I ever felt before,” wrote Batiste on social media.

The singer gave us a taste of things to come with the lead single “Calling Your Name”, and he shared the official visualizer for this track. World Music Radio will also feature collaborations with Lana Del Rey, Lil Wayne, NewJeans, and JID, and it will hit the shelves on August 18.

Expectations are running high for World Music Radio after the success of Batiste’s last studio effort We Are. He received 11 nominations at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, including eight for We Are, which was eventually named the album of the year.

The iHeartRadio Music Festival always has a pretty impressive lineup, and they really outdid themselves this year. The list of performers has been officially announced, and it includes the likes of Foo Fighters, Kelly Clarkson, and Lil Wayne.

Foo Fighters are fresh off dropping their latest studio album But Here We Are, and they’ll spend most of the summer on the road. Clarkson is gearing up to release her new album Chemistry this June, while Lil Wayne is currently plotting two new albums that don’t have an official release date yet.

They’ll be joined by an impressive lineup of major artists, including Fall Out Boy, Kane Brown, Sheryl Crow, Tim McGraw, Lenny Kravitz, Public Enemy, TLC, Miguel, and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Tom Coleman, iHeartMedia’s Chief Programming Officer, said they’re in awe of this year’s lineup because “each performer can sell out on their own, so it’s incredibly rare that you can see them all together on the same stage.”

The two-day concert will be taking place on September 22 and 23 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with Ryan Seacrest serving as a host. The concerts will be broadcast on iHeartMedia radio stations, but the official stream won’t be available this time around, since iHeartRadio struck a deal with Hulu to have them exclusively air the festival.

Lil Wayne is working on a new Young Money compilation.

During an interview on Fox Sports Radio’s Up On Game podcast, the rapper revealed that a compilation to highlight the artists on his roster is on the way.

“We about to put the compilation together with all the artists together on one album,” he said. “That sets up everything for everybody so they could start coming out with their solo projects as well.”

The last Young Money compilation, Rise Of The Empire, was released in 2014 and featured Drake, Nicki Minaj, Christiana Milian, Shanell, Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Cory Gunz, Gudda Gudda, Lil Twist, and other artists.

The first compilation was 2009’s We Are Young Money and it included the hits “BedRock”, “Every Girl”, and “Roger That”.

Wayne also said he’s shot a video for “Ain’t Got Time” with Foushee and that on Friday he recorded a new track called “Rocket Fire”, which he referred to as his “favorite song”.

It appears that Lil Wayne might have plenty of new music to offer his fans in the near future. While making a video call appearance on UFC Live over the weekend, the New Orleans rapper confirmed he is planning to release a new No Ceilings mixtape and a new Tha Carter album.

After chatting about MMA with UFC Live host Michael Eaves, Wayne was asked about his upcoming projects. This is when he decided to drop an exciting exclusive.

“Carter VI coming soon,” said Wayne at one moment. “But, I got No Ceilings coming first. No Ceilings 3.”

These two releases would round up a busy year for Wayne, considering that he already had one full-length album, Funeral, out in 2020. The release hit No.1 on US Billboard, although most critics felt indifferent about it.

Wayne presented the first entry in the No Ceilings series at the height of his popularity in 2009, gifting the project to fans as a free download.  The sequel, which surfaced six years later, in 2015, followed the same recipe. Both mixtapes received positive reviews.

Tha Carter album series, on the other hand, spanned five entries so far. The latest, chart-topping Tha Carter V, was released in September 2018.

Lil Wayne continues to roll out music videos from his most recent studio album Funeral. This time, he presented a video for “Piano Trap” and “Not Me” while using the opportunity to show off his skateboarding skills.

Both songs were incorporated in one video that consists mostly out of highlights of Wayne’s skating. It shows the “A Milli” rapper doing ollies, kickflips, grinds, and all sorts of different aerials and being surprisingly good at it.

Check out the video below.

According to Lil Wayne, the idea for the music video came when his skater friend Yosef “Yoyo” Rateliff showed him a skating video that used “Piano Trap” as a musical background. He liked it so much that he decided to do something similar.

“It was money from there!” Wayne told Rolling Stone magazine.

Wayne released Funeral back in January to positive reviews. The record, which followed 2018’s release Tha Carter V, also debuted at the top of US Billboard Charts, marking his fifth No.1 album.

The rapper recently announced that the deluxe edition of the record is currently in the works and will be released soon. It will come with several new tracks as well as interesting remixes.

Lil Baby dropped his sophomore studio album last week, and it features several pretty epic collaborations. One of them happens to be “Forever” featuring Lil Wayne, and the duo just shared a fiery video for this track.

The Jon J.-directed clip isn’t exactly plot-driven, and it simply shows the two rappers in front of a huge fire-lit screen. The video also sees them hanging out with their squad, sitting inside a white Rolls Royce, and showing off their blingy necklaces and watches.

“Forever” is featured on Lil Baby’s latest album My Turn, which hit the shelves on February 28th. In addition to collaborating with Lil Wayne, the young rapper also joined forces with Gunna, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, and several other artists.

Lil Baby’s first LP Harder Than Ever reached no. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, while his mixtape Street Gossip debuted at no. 2. We’re yet to see if he’ll manage to soar higher with this album, and his competition includes new albums by Bad Bunny and Five Finger Death Punch and this week’s chart-toppers BTS.

It’s been two years since G-Eazy delivered his latest hit album with The Beautiful & Damned, and he’s finally ready to go back in the studio. The famous rapper recently announced he’s working on a new record and revealed it will feature a collaboration with Lil Wayne.

G-Eazy discussed his future projects after a recent concert at the Open’er Festival in Poland, and revealed he’s album is coming “very soon” while chatting with NME.

“It’s an album about coming home and an album that’s a full circle. It’s a full circle and an album about completing the journey and not forgetting your roots and who you are,” said Me, Myself & I singer.

G-Eazy also teased a partnership with one of his favorite rappers of all time – Lil Wayne. We’re really excited about this team-up since he has a great track record working with other artists. The Beautiful & Damned alone featured collaborations with Halsey, Cardi B, ASAP Rocky and more.
