Payne’s debut album LP1 will be a perfect early Christmas present for his fans, since it’s hitting the shelves on December 6th. It will even feature a holiday song, in addition to several new tracks and hit singles we’ve already heard.

This album has been in the making for two years, and it will feature the Quavo collaboration “Strip That Down”, “Get Low” featuring Zedd, and Rita Ora duet “For You” from Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack.

The singer announced its release with an official statement and took a moment to look back at everything that went into the making of his first solo project.

“I’ve had so many amazing experiences over the last few years which I’ve used as inspiration for this record – it’s been a real labor of love. I’ve worked with some incredibly talented people in the studio to produce an album that truly represents me which I’m very proud of,” said Liam Payne.

Payne, who rose to fame as a member of One Direction, was a guest on Billboard’s First Stream Live where he explained that “Stack It Up” was held up a year due to a series of coincidences.

“We literally did the song with Boogie and then we found out that he had a song on Ed Sheeran’s album,” he said, referring to rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie who collaborated on the track. “So it was like, ‘Okay, we’ll just have to wait for that to go by.”

“[…] after that, he had a song that was coming out, so we waited for that to go by,” continued Payne. “And then there was some sort of weird thing that happened with some sort of Grammy nomination week thing that happened when there was a date in place, and everyone was rushing for the date and I was like, ‘I want no part in this, I feel like Grammys are a while away for me yet, so I’m just going to avoid that at all costs.’”

Payne discussed the future of his career in a recent interview with Billboard and shared exciting news we’ve been waiting for since his debut EP “First Time” came out last year.

“I’ve got to work and collaborate with some of the most amazing people so far and that just keeps happening. We have three new songs that I’m working on and some great friends who have written some more amazing songs for me,” explained 25-year-old singer.

At this point in time, it’s unclear if Payne is working on a whole new album, but music is no longer his sole focus. He’s also on his path to becoming a movie star, and it’s just a matter of time before he lands his first major role.

“I never really saw it coming myself, honestly. I put a couple auditions into some things and had a little bit of success within them. I didn’t quite get some of the roles but it’s been fun,” said Liam Payne.

Aside from announcing his upcoming EP, Liam Payne decided to explain why he still hasn’t released a studio album, which was previously announced for September 14th. According to Payne, his debut record is done, but he wasn’t satisfied with some of the songs on it and decided to get some more work done.

“As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me,” the 24-year-old singer explained. “I looked at some of the songs on my album, which were done a while ago, and they felt from another age. I’m determined for my debut album to truly represent me.”

“I’m now back in the studio working hard to finalize the final few new songs on the record — I’m genuinely excited about the music I’m writing and recording and I can’t wait for it to be ready for you all,” he added.

Besides working on his debut album, Liam Payne is also busy collaborating with other artists. He recently teamed with Rita Ora for the song “For You,” which was featured on the soundtrack of the film Fifty Shades Freed. He also released single “Familiar” with Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin.

One Direction (ironically…) went their separate ways two years ago. Liam has told the Daily Star, however, that he thinks that a reunion might happen in the foreseeable future.

“It’s amazing that we’re doing our own thing and then, hopefully one day soon, we get back together and have another great time of it, who knows?” he said.

Until then, Liam is making the final touches to his debut solo album, which will be released later this year. He will also be doing a worldwide tour in 2019. He is also said to be involved with a US talent show.

“I have fun doing TV, and I have fun doing music, I want to do both,” he hinted.

“I will always want to do music, it’s just that I had so many opportunities come my way and I felt it was just such an amazing time to go and spread my wings and experiment with different types of entertainment.”
