Lana Del Rey’s Norman F***ing Rockwell has been out for a couple of weeks now and since it landed, we have collectively listened to it dozens of times. Here’s our ranking of every song on the record from worst to best.

14. Bartender

“Bartender” is probably the least memorable track on the record. It is the last of the weaker tracks before the album picks back up again for its big finish.

13. The Next Best American Record

“The Next Best American Record” is also quite forgettable. Lana loses us for a moment in the middle of the album and this is the point where we are most likely to get distracted.

12. Cinnamon Girl

“Cinnamon Girl” is another track which is adequate but not particularly special. The song fails to captivate us in the way the former tracks do and is one of three average tracks on the album.

11. How To Disappear

“How To Disappear” marks the point on this list where every track which follows is either great or fantastic. The song is simple but Lana shows off her vocal range at the end of each verse.

10. Happiness is a butterfly

“Happiness is a butterfly” is the emotional penultimate track. It is a song about chasing happiness and failing. It is beautifully done.

9. The greatest

“The greatest” may not be the greatest track on the album but it’s pretty good. It begins with a theatrical intro and then we have Lana and her piano.

8. California

“California” is one of the few songs on the album we would tentatively describe as “catchy.” If this is the median point on the record, it demonstrates just how great the rest of the album is.

7. F**k It I Love You

Saying “I Love You” is not always a tender, romantic moment. Sometimes, it’s giving in to your feelings despite yourself as Lana beautifully demonstrates in this track.

6. Venice Bitch

“Venice Bitch” is a nine-minute story of a love affair with Norman Rockwell. “Oh God, miss you on my lips / It’s me, your little Venice bitch” has been going around our head for days.

5. Norman F***ing Rockwell

The record’s titular track is Del Rey’s strongest album opener yet. Accompanied by a piano, she pulls us into her unconventional love story and has us hooked.

4. Love Song

“Love Song” is a more romantic moment on the record. “Oh, be my once in a lifetime” she begs before confessing to being a “mess.”

3. Doin’ Time

“Doin’ Time” is the only cover song on the album. Lana does justice to the original while completely making it her own. Her cover is sultry, provocative and she does not change any of the pronouns.

2. Mariners Apartment Complex

“Mariners Apartment Complex” is beautifully crafted from start to finish. The lyrics are some of her most powerful and the track is a seductive kind of ballard that pulls us in.

1. hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it

The album closer is the rawest and most emotional track. Lana’s lyrics are daringly honest and she even compares herself to the tragic writer, Sylvia Plath. She shows us here that Lana Del Rey is at her best when it is just her and the piano. That’s all she needs to powerfully tell her story and captivate her audience.

Lana Del Rey’s recently made an appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and treated us with a surprising cover of Ariana Grande’s big hit “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored.”

Del Rey, who came to promote her newest album Norman F**ng Rockwell, also performed a cover of Sublime’s “Doin’ Time” as part of the set.

Although you would think that Del Rey is Grande’s biggest fan, it turns out that covering “Sweetener” singer wasn’t entirely her idea.

“I thought about sending her a screenshot of a list of preferred covers I was sent, which had about seven of her songs on it, so she wouldn’t just think I was a mega-fan,” said Del Rey before getting into the song. Hear her cover below.

This isn’t the first time, however, that we hear Del Rey performing “Doin’ Time.” She enjoyed covering this song so much in the past that she also enlisted it as part of her latest record.

With Norman F**ing Rockwell, Lana Del Rey topped the UK, Scottish, and Argentinian charts while the album peaked at No.3 on the US Billboard 200. It was also received very well by the critics, who already consider it her finest work to date.

Lana Del Rey released her new album Norman F**ing Rockwell less than a week ago, but that doesn’t mean she is ready to go on a studio break. During a recent interview with The Times, Del Rey revealed that she is already working on another record.

The American singer shared that the album will be titled White Hot Forever and that it should drop in a year.

“I’ve already written parts of it,” said Del Rey. “It’s called White Hot Forever, I feel like it probably will be a surprise release sometime within the 12 or 13 months.”

“I’m really excited right now. I don’t want to take a break,” she added.

It isn’t uncommon for Lana Del Rey to drop new albums in consecutive years. She released her third studio album Ultraviolence in 2014, only to follow it up with Honeymoon in 2015.

Besides working on new songs, Del Rey is currently busy promoting Norman F**ng Rockwell and is plotting a North America and Europe tour to support the album. The record is currently on track to top US Billboard 200 and UK Charts while receiving widespread acclaim from the critics. It was widely lauded as the singer’s best album to date and described as “even more massive and majestic than everyone hoped it would be.”

Lana Del Rey has shared her struggles with writing “Norman F***ing Rockwell” in a new interview.

It’s hard to believe that a talented star like Lana Del Rey would ever have trouble releasing a new album. In 2012, among the “Video Games” hype, it seemed like the singer-songwriter was filled with endless song. Speaking with Billboard, however, Del Rey has confessed that she initially struggled working with her producer Jack Antonoff, because she just didn’t feel in the mood for making music.

“I wasn’t in the mood to write,” Del Rey told Billboard. “[Antonoff] wanted me to meet him in some random diner, and I was like, ‘You already worked with everyone else; I don’t know where there’s room for me.’”

She then explained how Antonoff inspired her by playing “10 minutes of weird, atmospheric riffs.”

She continued: “I’ve got a more eccentric side when it comes to the muse of writing, but I feel very much that writing is not my thing: I’m writing’s thing. When the writing has got me, I’m on its schedule. But when it leaves me alone, I’m just at Starbucks, talking s**t all day.”

Norman F***ing Rockwell will be released on August 30.
