]]>Lostboy recalled co-writing “Padam Padam” with Ina Wroldsen in early 2022 in a recent interview with The Sun and revealed that the label wasn’t sure if Minogue was the right fit for this song.
“There were maybe four or five months of us sitting on it, then I sent it to their label, and someone suggested to me, ‘Kylie would kill this.’ They were unsure and there was a moment when Rita was going to cut it and it was worming around a few artists on that label,” said Lostboy.
He praised Minogue’s take, saying he was surprised by how confident she was that she could make the song her own, while also putting a modern twist on it.
“Padam Padam” was released in May last year as a lead single from Minogue’s last studio album Tension. It became a true viral phenomenon on social media, hit the top ten in several countries around the world, and scored a Grammy nod for the best pop dance recording.

It’s Minogue fourth consecutive No. 1 album in this country and ninth overall, making her the third female artist with the most UK number-one albums, behind Madonna with 12 and Taylor Swift with 10.
The success of Tension can largely be credited to its lead single “Padam Padam”. This song became a surprise viral hit following its release in May, and Minogue said she was both surprised and grateful after seeing it find a huge audience on TikTok.
“I’ve been so touched and amazed at people’s ingenuity, passion, and humor. We all had high hopes for the song, but I don’t think any of us expected it to take off the way it did as a viral hit. So I’m going along with the ride and we’ve had to pivot as well – because it was unexpected,” she told Music Week.
