]]>In an interview with the New York Times, frontman Kevin Parker explained why new music has not been released sooner. As it turns out, the reason is that he has put creating new music on hold is because he’s been feeling “on top of the world.” There just hasn’t been the urge there to make new music.
“Part of the thing about me starting an album is that I have to feel kind of worthless again to want to make music,” he told the New York Times.
“I started making music when I was a kid as a way of feeling better about myself, you know? The ironic thing is, if I’m feeling on top of the world or feeling confident or like everything’s good, I don’t have the urge to make music.”
So the good news is that new Tame Impala music is on its way, but the bad news is that Kevin Parker is feeling “kind of worthless.” And we don’t know what to make of that.

]]>Speaking with The Sunday Times Australia, the frontman admitted that the band found out about the slot via poster, rather than vie Kevin giving them the news.
“They would’ve woken up, seen the poster and thought it was a joke,” Parker said. “If they read this interview, they’ll know I forgot. We’re not much of a celebratory gang.”
Elsewhere in the interview Parker shared an update on the upcoming Tame Imapala album. It’s been four years since the release of their last album, Currents, and fans are getting itchy feet waiting to see what the psychedelic pop rock group will do next.
“I like to think that the album is its own thing,” he explained. “I wouldn’t want in 20 years to be listening to an album I made now and think that I finished it for any deadline or any particular reason. It was finished because it was finished.”
What we’re taking away from that is to hold tight because the album is coming and it will be worth the wait.
