]]>After a lot of anticipation, Lady Gaga’s long-awaited album Mayhem finally hit the shelves this Friday – and it was worth the wait! It marks an epic return to form for the singer who never feared to experiment with different genres and styles, and we singled out “Garden of Eden” as one of its best new songs.
Speaking of new albums, Jennie is the latest member of Blackpink to share her solo album Ruby with the world, and “Handlebars” ft. Dua Lipa is its buzziest new song. The indie rock singer Sasami also impressed us with her new LP Blood on the Silver Screen and made it to our list with “I’ll Be Gone”.
We’ve chosen to showcase many other amazing female artists on our list this week in celebration of International Women’s Day. Bishop Briggs has given us the defining girl power anthem of the week with her new song “Woman Is King” – and that’s just the beginning!
Check out the rest of our list to discover new music by the likes of Doechii, The Ophelias, and Rachel Chinouriri.

]]>In a pretty slow week for new music releases, Tyla managed to make quite a splash with her latest singles. The young South African singer gave us another sensual and empowering single with “Push 2 Start”, which created more buzz than any other song released this week.
When it comes to new albums and EPs released this Friday, rising star Myles Smith impressed us with “Nice To Meet You” from A Minute… A$AP Ferg dropped the self-titled record Darold, which produced several pretty great collaborations, including “French Tips” ft. Coco Jones.
We’ve also seen several artists return with a double single this week. Zach Bryan dropped “High Road” and “This World’s A Giant” on the same day, while Jorja Smith released “Loving You” ft. Maverick Sabre and “Don’t Let Me Go”.
Check out the rest of our list for this week to discover new music by Griff, Julia Michaels, Celeste, Perrie, and Alice Phoebe Lou.

]]>Several major artists chose June 21 as the release date of their new albums, starting with Kehlani, who knocked us off our feet with Crash. It was also a great week for Gracie Abrams, who released her sophomore album The Secret of Us, and stirred quite a commotion with the A-list collaboration “Us.” feat. Taylor Swift.
It was a great week for amazing collaborations overall, and quite a few made it to our list. Maren Morris and Julia Michaels proved they’re a match made in heaven with “Cut!”, while Jamie xx and Robyn joined forces for “Life”.
It’s also been a great week for remixes of songs we already know and love. Ariana Grande did the most meta thing ever and invited Brandy and Monica to hop on a remix of “The Boy is Mine”, while Charli XCX recorded a new version of “Girl, So Confusing” alongside Lorde.
Check out the rest of our list to discover new music by Coldplay, Lola Young, Suki Waterhouse, and The Japanese House.

]]>The post Charli XCX is Writing Songs for Britney Spears’ New Album appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Reportedly, Spears plans to put together a team of “chart-topping” songwriters for her first studio effort since 2016’s Glory. Charli XCX reportedly completed one song for the “Toxic” singer, while Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels is expected to contribute in the same manner.
Aside from her successful career as a solo artist, Charli XCX has written songs for music acts like Blondie, Camila Cabello, Iggy Azalea, and will.i.am. Michaels, on the other hand, has written two songs that topped the Billboard Hot 100, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me”.
As of now, Spears has yet to start recording any type of material. She also hasn’t met any of the songwriters working on her new music, but she provided “pointers” on the style she wants.
Since releasing Glory, Spears has only recorded two new songs, with both being collaborations. She provided vocals for the track “Hold Me Closer,” which was featured on Elton John’s The Lockdown Sessions from 2021, while teaming up with will.i.am for 2023’s single “Mind Your Business.”

]]>If you don’t pay close attention to the video, it may seem like there’s not much happening, but it’s actually quite symbolic. It perfectly reflects the lyrics of Michaels’ latest track and sees her covering up or removing layers of clothing, depending on her level of comfort in her own skin.
Julia Michaels detailed her experience of writing this song in an in-depth essay for Teen Vogue and expressed her hope that other people who struggled with self-love and self-acceptance will feel less alone after hearing it.
“I think everybody has insecurities about their body. I’ll be getting ready and I’ll wear something and nothing feels right, and then I end up not going because I’m so self-conscious. I wanted to write a song about my insecurities because I can’t be the only one who feels this way,” Michaels shared.

]]>This three-minute long clip shows the pair sitting by each other’s side in an empty nightclub and delivering their soulful pop ballade, which will tug at your heartstrings. There’s not much more to it, but the slow-motion camera that’s circling around them certainly gives this video an incredibly intimate feel.
Julia Michaels described the process of writing this song as “a great collaborative experience”, because it came from a place they can both relate to. James Bay echoed her statement while explaining the meaning behind their emotional duet.
“In writing ‘Peer Pressure’ Julia and I wanted to talk about how, when the right person comes along, they can break through any armor and with love, get straight to you. It’s about that person who, no matter how much of a guard you hold up, finds their way through to you,” said English hit-maker.

]]>This powerful ballad focuses on the internal battles a person goes through when battling anxiety. Gomez is no stranger to this feeling and Michaels was one of the people who were always by her side while she fought through it.
“My sweet soul sister. Julia, you have been a huge part of my life. You have taught me how to have courage when I have self-doubt. This song is extremely close to my heart as I’ve experienced anxiety and know a lot of my friends do too,” wrote Gomez on Instagram.
“Anxiety” is featured on Michaels’ new EP “Inner Monologue Part 1”, which came out on January 24.
