It’s been a decade since Haim dropped their studio album Days Are Gone, and they’re celebrating its anniversary in style! The indie rock trio announced the 10th-anniversary reissue of their debut studio album and reflected on its legacy one decade down the line.

Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim recently set down with NME and looked back at the time when Days Are Gone first saw the light of day. Este told the magazine they had zero expectations for this album back in the day, while Alana added they didn’t really know how to get their music out there at the time and simply did the best day could.

“The only thing that we knew was that we were super proud of what we had finally created after being a band for six years at that point… So we put it on the internet with absolutely no idea what was going to happen. And it completely changed our lives,” Alana told NME.

Days Are Gone was originally released on September 27, 2013, and it produced singles “Forever”, “Don’t Save Me”, “Falling”, “The Wire”, “If I Could Change Your Mind”, and “My Song 5”. Haim went on to release two more studio albums, including their latest Women in Music Pt. III, and served as the opening act for such artists as Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Florence and the Machine.

Haim has opened up about the emotional experiences that shaped their new single “Now I’m In It”.

The new single was released on Wednesday. Danielle Haim has described it as “chaotic”, explaining that the track is an illustration of her battle with depression.

In a candid Instagram post, Haim wrote: “The track is chaotic – like my mind when i’m spiraling. fast-talking to myself – words jumbled up. heartbeat racing. these times are hard to forget and even harder to work through. after being constantly on the go the past couple years, i didn’t wanna stop and deal with some s**t. also, every day my sisters and i feel so f***ing lucky that we get to do this for a living!!!”

She added: “It seemed like stopping and dealing with these emotions would be letting everyone down. But every time I’ve been depressed- it takes me accepting that I need help, to start to get out of it.”

Stevie Nicks advises the Haim girls to go solo.

Last week (December 13), Stevie Nicks became the first woman to be inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame not once, but twice. In 1998, she was welcomed in with Fleetwood Mac but now, she has been inducted based on her solo material.

At the age of 70, Stevie Nicks is over the moon that she has been recognized for her solo material and hopes to inspire women in the generations below. She approached one particular girl band to share her words of wisdom after the show.

“After the show last night I was talking to the Haim girls,” the Fleetwood Mac star told Rolling Stone. “I was saying to them, ‘Okay, now I’ve opened the door for you. Now each one of you needs to go do a solo album really fast and get your solos going, so in the next 20 years you’ll be able to do this too and maybe I’ve opened the doors to all the girls in my life that sing and write and play and are amazing.’”

So, perhaps we can expect some solo albums one day soon from the Haim girls? Either way, here’s some Stevie Nicks to celebrate her inspiring achievement and general awesomeness.
