The post 2025 Grammy Awards: Kendrick Lamar & Beyoncé Take Top Prizes Home appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Beyoncé’s wait for the album of the year victory finally ended this Sunday night, when she came out victorious with her country-themed record Cowboy Carter. This album also won her a historic prize for the best country album, transforming her into the first Black female artist to collect this award.
Kendrick Lamar also had a reason to celebrate on Sunday night, after winning awards in all the categories he was nominated for and walking away with five trophies. He won song and record of the year with the viral hit “Not Like Us”, in addition to the best music video, best rap song, and best rap performance.
Charli XCX joined Beyoncé as one of the artists to walk away with three awards, including the best dance/electronic album for Brat. Sierra Ferrell was also among the top winners after dominating the Americana field with four awards, while St. Vincent won three in the alternative categories.

]]>The post 2025 Grammy Awards Will “Proceed as Planned” Amid LA Wildfires appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>MusiCares CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and The Recording Academy’s chair Tammy Hurt announced the decision to proceed with the ceremony in a joint statement, adding they’re working with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources.
“This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” the duo said in a press release.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort in response to this crisis, pledging an initial $1 million donation to support music creatives and professionals. They’ll use the upcoming Grammy Awards as “a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.”
The 2025 Grammy Awards will return to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2. Beyoncé topped the list of nominations with 11 nods, followed by Charli XCX and Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar with seven each.

]]>Beyoncé won historic 32 Grammys across her career – more than any other artist in history – but never got a chance to lift the album of the year trophy. She’ll get another shot with Cowboy Carter, but she’ll have to beat tough competition in the likes of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Billie Eilish.
Beyoncé is also competing in the other two main categories, song and record of the year, with her smash hit “Texas Hold ‘Em”. “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone, “Good Luck Babe” by Chappell Roan, and “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar also made the cut in both categories.
Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter are both in the running for the “big four” awards. In addition to making it to the three main categories with their breakout albums The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Short n’ Sweet, they’re also nominated for the best new artist.
The 2025 Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, with live broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.

]]>The post 2024 Grammy Awards: Taylor Swift Wins Big With “Midnights” & Announces New Album appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Midnights defeated tough competition in SZA’s SOS, Boygenius’ The Record, and Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts to be crowned album of the year at this year’s Grammys. Swift thanked her fans in the emotional acceptance speech and used it to announce the release of her next album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19.
The list of major winners also included Phoebe Bridgers, who walked away with four trophies, including three with Boygenius. SZA, Victoria Monét, and Killer Mike were right behind with three wins each.
As for the big four categories, Swift wasn’t the only one with a reason to celebrate. Miley Cyrus, who picked up the record of the year trophy with “Flowers”, Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” was crowned the song of the year, while Victoria Monét picked up the award for the best new artist.
The 2024 Grammy Awards were held at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on February 4, with Trevor Noah returning to host for the fourth time.

]]>The post Joni Mitchell Set to Perform at the Grammy Awards for the First Time appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Mitchell is coming into this year’s ceremony with one nomination for best folk album with Joni Mitchell at Newport. The surprise performance at Newport was her first in 20 years, and she’s now getting ready for another big “first”, hitting the stage at the Grammy Awards.
Even though Mitchell never performed during the Music’s Biggest Night, she always felt right at home at the Grammys stage. She’s a recipient of nine competitive Grammys, plus a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, which she received in 2022.
Mitchell is joining an impressive lineup of Grammy performers, which includes Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, and Travis Scott. The rock band U2 is also expected to tune in for a special performance from Sphere in Las Vegas.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4. Trevor Noah will host the ceremony, which will be broadcast live on CBS, while also being available to stream on Paramount+.

]]>Nigerian singer Burna Boy is coming into the night with four nods, following the success of his latest album I Told Them… which is in the running for the best global music album. He also received nominations for the best melodic rap performance for “Sittin’ on Top of the World” ft. 21 Savage, best global music performance for “Alone”, and best African music performance for “City Boys”.
Scott is also one of this year’s nominees, with his latest album Utopia. He’s competing for the best rap album with this LP, but he’ll have to beat tough competition in Her Loss by Drake and 21 Savage, Michael by Killer Mike, Heroes & Villains by Metro Boomin, and King’s Disease III by Nas. As for Luke Combs, the country superstar received a nod for the best country solo performance with “Fast Car”.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, with Trevor Noah hosting the show. Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo have previously been announced as the first round of performers.

]]>This will be the third time that Eilish performs at the Grammys, having previously done so in 2021 and 2022. Rodrigo took the stage in 2022, while Lipa is returning for the first time since 2021.
Eilish has six nominations at the 2024 Grammys. Her song “What Was I Made For?” which was part of the soundtrack for blockbuster Barbie, is nominated in five categories, including Song Of The Year. Additionally, Eilish also received a nomination for Labrinth collaboration “Never Felt So Alone” in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
Rodrigo will also have six opportunities to add more Grammy Awards to her collection. Her second studio album, Guts, has been nominated in the Album of the Year and Best Vocal Performance categories. Rodrigo’s hit single “Vampire” is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance awards, while her track “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” is nominated in the Best Rock Song category.
Lipa is nominated in the Best Song Written For Visual Media and Song of the Year categories for “Dance The Night,” another song taken from Barbie The Album.

]]>SZA scored nods in most of the night’s main categories, starting with album of the year. SOS will have to beat tough completion in Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts, Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure, Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation, Lana Del Rey’s Ocean Blvd, Boygenius’s The Record, and Jon Batiste’s World Music Radio to take this award home.
Her smash hit “Kill Bill” will be competing for both song and record of the year, and it’s in pretty good company. The list of songs that made it to both of these categories also includes Swift’s “Anti-Hero”, Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Batiste’s “Butterfly”, and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” are also in the running in both categories.
Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and Serban Ghenea are also among the major nominees at this year’s Grammys with seven nominations. Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Brandy Clark, Boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift are right behind with six each.

]]>The post Recording Academy Introduces Several Grammy Changes, From AI Ban to Category Shifts appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>It will be much harder to get into the “four big” categories at the Grammys this year since the field has been significantly reduced. Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist will all include only eight nominations next year, instead of ten.
Outside of the general field, the Grammy ballot has been reduced from 26 fields to 11, to ensure that all voting members were able to exercise all ten of their allocated votes. Several new categories have been introduced, including best African music performance, best alternative jazz album, and best pop dance recording.
As AI-generated music experiences a huge boom, the Recording Academy introduced a rule that “only human creators are eligible to be submitted for consideration for, nominated for, or win a Grammy Award” and that “a work that contains no human authorship is not eligible in any categories.”
The eligibility period for the upcoming year is set for October 1, 2022 to September 15, 2023, while the date of the ceremony is yet to be announced.

]]>The post Beyoncé Makes History at 2023 Grammy Awards, Harry Styles & Lizzo Win Top Prizes appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>After entering the ceremony with nine nominations to tie with Jay-Z as the most nominated artist in Grammy history, Beyoncé managed to win four awards, bringing her career total to 32 trophies. She won awards for best dance/electronic recording (“Break My Soul”), best dance/electronic album (Renaissance), best traditional R&B performance (“Plastic Off the Sofa”), and best R&B song (“Cuff It”).
It was also a big night for Harry Styles, who won two awards with Harry’s House: album of the year and best pop vocal album. Lizzo also had a reason to celebrate after defeating the likes of Styles, Beyoncé, and Adele to win the record of the year with “About Damn Time”.
The Big Four categories delivered a few shockers this year, starting with Bonnie Raitt’s song of the year win with “Just Like That”. It was also quite surprising to see the jazz singer Samara Joy pick up the best new artist award, in the category which included the likes of Latto and Måneskin.
The 65th Annual Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5, with Trevor Noah serving as a host.

]]>The post Travis Scott, Luke Combs & Burna Boy to Perform at the 2024 Grammys appeared first on Hot Pop Today.

]]>The post Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Dua Lipa Announced as Performers at the 2024 Grammys appeared first on Hot Pop Today.

]]>The post SZA Scores Nine Nominations for 2024 Grammy Awards, Including Album & Record of the Year appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS and Paramount+ on February 4, 2024, and the host is yet to be chosen.
