The post Frank Ocean Shares Snippet of New Music, Makes “Blonde” Vinyl Available Again appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>The 24-second clip shows Ocean in the studio dancing while listening to the track.
This wasn’t the only news from Ocean this week. He also made the vinyl version of his acclaimed album Blonde available again. The initial vinyl release of the 2016 album was available for just 24 hours before being discontinued. It was then re-released in 2022 but quickly sold out.
Alongside Blonde vinyl, Ocean also added new merchandise on his website.
Frank Ocean has kept a fairly low profile since releasing Blonde. Despite constant rumors about his third studio album, Ocean has only released a handful of songs as singles in recent years. This included a pair of songs, “Dear April” and “Cayendo,” back in 2020.
Ocean also refrained from live shows. He most recently performed on the first weekend of 2023 Coachella, which was his first concert in almost six years. The “Pink + White” was scheduled to play the second weekend of the festival as well but canceled his set due to an injury.

]]>Ocean’s representative released a statement announcing his exit, revealing that his Week 1 show was reworked after he suffered an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to his performance. Due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg, he’ll miss Weekend 2 on the doctor’s advice.
Ocean’s performance faced major scrutiny, after kicking off one hour later and ending earlier than planned due to local curfew restrictions. Given this was his first live performance in six years, many of his fans found it disappointing, especially since it wasn’t live-streamed on YouTube for a larger audience.
Frank Ocean acknowledged the backlash after canceling his second show, saying, “It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”
Bad Bunny and Blackpink are also serving as headliners at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and Blink-182 is expected to join them this weekend following Ocean’s exit.

]]>Five songs into his set, Ocean took a breather and addressed the audience.
“It’s been so long, but I have missed you,” Ocean told the crowd before hinting a new album might come soon.
“I wanna talk about why I’m here, ‘cos it’s not because of a new album – not that there’s not a new album – but there’s not right now,” he added.
Ocean went on to say that he decided to make an appearance at the festival since he enjoyed coming to Coachella with his late brother as a visitor.
“We were just dancing in that tent to that music, and I know he would have been so excited to be here with all of us, and I wanted to say thank you for all the support and the love all the years and the time,” he shared.
Ocean’s most recent studio album was 2016’s Blonde. The record was met with widespread acclaim, topping the US Billboard 200 and going No. 1 in several other countries. Since then, Ocean has released a number of singles, with the latest one, “Cayendo,” coming in 2020.

]]>Seeing Bad Bunny take the headlining spot doesn’t come as a shocker after the reggaeton superstar gave us one of the biggest albums of 2022 with Un Verano Sin Ti. He’ll be in pretty good company on April 14 and 21, when Gorillaz, Burna Boy, Blondie, and Becky G are also set to perform.
Blackpink will take the stage on April 15 & 22, making history as the first K-pop act to headline the festival. They previously performed at the 2019 Coachella, and their performance was met with rave reviews. The list of Saturday’s acts also includes Rosalía, Charlie XCX, Kid Laroi, and Labrinth.
Frank Ocean, who was scheduled to headline the canceled 2020 edition of Coachella, will have a chance to reunite with his fans on April 16 & 23. Björk, Kali Uchis, and Porter Robinson will also perform during Sunday’s set.
The 2023 Coachella Music and Arts Festival will take place at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California over the course of two three-day weekends of April 14-16 and April 21-23.

]]>Coachella traditionally takes place over the course of two weekends in April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The organizers are sticking to that tradition, and they’re bringing the iconic festival back to the desert between April 14-16 and April 21-23, 2023. If you want to secure your ticket right away, keep in mind that the advance sales start on June 17 at 10 am PT.
The full list of headliners is yet to be announced, but Frank Ocean is one of the artists eyed for the headlining spot. He was previously announced as one of the headliners of the canceled 2020 festival, and Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett expressed hope that they’ll be able to bring him back.
“Right now, it’s the Wild West, I’m just trying to be as fair as I can to artists and to the fans to make sure that eventually they get to see everyone that we talked about,” Tollett told The LA Times last year.

]]>“I believed for a very long time that there was strength in vulnerability, and I really don’t believe that anymore,” Ocean told W magazine, discussing themes he is concerned with musically. “‘Strength’ and ‘vulnerability’ sound opposite as words. And so to combine them sounds wise, but I don’t know if it is wise.”
Curiously, Ocean claimed his interest in music had to do with becoming successful rather than an artistic desire. “It was a driver to get out of the neighborhood,” he explained. “I remember feeling no attachment to music necessarily, more an attachment to what music could bring if I succeeded, you know, financially. And that meant freedom from my situation at the time, and maybe what I was projecting onto my own future.”
When asked if he’s currently working on any projects, Ocean replied, “My answer to that is that I’m always working on music and other things. Right now I’m working on doing four underwater laps in the pool.”
While we wish Ocean all the best with his aquatic endeavors, we do hope he’ll find the time to release some new songs between laps!

]]>One of our favorite parts is its amazing soundtrack, and director Jonathan Levine recently revealed how he put it together.
Music always played a huge role in his filmmaking process, and he took the same approach with this love story about a potential presidential candidate and her newly appointed speechwriter, played by Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen.
Levine shared his process in an interview with Slash Film, and explained he put together a playlist of songs he wanted to use, that served as a great source of inspiration.
“I was really going for this Cameron Crowe thing. Music is how you see the world. Music is the way you mark relationships. Music is what you remember about falling in love or breaking up. Music is the thing you share with someone when you want to get closer to them,” revealed Levine.
One of the most epic moments of the whole movie was surprise cameo by Boyz II Men. They gave the movie a ’90s flavor, and the love story between main characters probably wouldn’t even happen if it wasn’t for their music.
“They were the first call we made, and we we’re so excited they said yes, because from a character perspective, there’s so much of thinking about the young idealist and whether the young version of you would be happy with where you are today,” said Levine.
