]]>“What Was I Made For?” defeated Barbie’s I’m Just Ken”, written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, “The Fire Inside” by Diane Warren from Flamin’ Hot, “It Never Went Away” by Jon Batiste and Dan Wilson from American Symphony, and “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” by Scott George from Killers of the Flower Moon to win Eilish and O’Connel their second Oscar.
They previously collected the best original song trophy for the James Bond theme song from “No Time to Die”. “What Was I Made For?” already won multiple awards coming into the Oscars on Sunday night, including a Grammy for the best song written for visual media.
Despite losing the best original song Oscar to “What Was I Made For?”, “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie was one of the highlights of this year’s ceremony. Ryan Gosling delivered an electrifying performance, which paid homage to Marilyn Monroe’s film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and brought the Oscars crowd to its feet alongside Mark Ronson, Slash, and his co-stars Scott Evans, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben Adir, and Ncuti Gatwa.

]]>Finneas shared the news during a recent interview for British lifestyle brand MR PORTER. He also offered some insights into the process of making the album.
“I don’t think Billie was particularly sure about how she actually felt about the things we were trying to write about,” Finneas explained. “Making a thing that you feel really connected to – it can really evade you.’”
Billie Eilish released her most recent studio effort, Happier Than Ever, back in 2021. Finneas was credited as a co-writer on all of the tracks while also producing the record and playing all instruments. The album received critical acclaim while topping the charts in more than 20 countries, including US Billboard 200 and UK Album.
The sister-brother duo more recently collaborated on the song “What Was I Made For?,” which was part of the soundtrack for the hit movie Barbie. The song reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and No. 1 on UK Singles while being nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories.

]]>Eilish is sharing her Oscar nomination with her brother and creative partner Finneas O’Connell for their work on the theme song from the latest James Bond movie No Time To Die. Beyoncé was nominated alongside DIXSON for “Be Alive” from King Richard.
The chart-topping soundtrack of Disney’s Encanto is also on the list of nominees, but not with the song you would expect. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” was never even submitted for the awards consideration, and “Dos Oruguitas” written by Lin-Manuel Miranda was nominated instead.
The list of nominees for the best song also includes “Down to Joy” from Belfast by Van Morrison and “Somehow You Do” from Four Good Days by Diane Warren. When it comes to the best original score category, Don’t Look Up, Dune, Encanto, Parallel Mothers, and The Power of the Dog will be competing for this award.
The 2022 Academy Awards are scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 27th.

]]>Eilish’s new self-directed video sees her taking a ride by her brother’s side, but they don’t get to enjoy scenic California streets for too long. The video ends with the young singer driving the car straight into the ocean, and being swallowed up by darkness while holding Finneas’ hand.
The brother-sister duo wrote “Everything I Wanted” together, and they drew inspiration from their own relationship, and one of Eilish’s worst nightmares described at the very begging of the song.
“My brother and I wrote this song about each other and I wanted to create a visual that emphasizes that no matter what, we’ll be there for each other through everything. This is the second video I’ve directed of mine. We worked so hard, for hours and hours on end,” the young singer said in a statement.

]]>Eilish became the first artist since 1981 to win the four major awards in the same year – record and song of the year with “Bad Guy”, album of the year with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and best new artist. She also collected the best pop vocal album trophy.
The Grammy Awards ceremony took place on January 26th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Alicia Keys hosted the event and paid homage to the late basketball player Kobe Bryant alongside Boyz II Men. Several performers at the ceremony, including Lil Nas X, Lizzo and DJ Khaled, also took a moment to pay tribute to the NBA legend.

“I think if you’re not trying to change things a little bit, you’re not evolving. So I think we’re just trying to embrace everything that we are proud of in our music and also just try new things and experiment and give people stuff to look forward to,” said Finneas.
Eilish and O’Connell co-wrote all of the songs on her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and he ended up scoring five Grammy nominations this year thanks to their collaboration, while his sister received six.
