Ed Sheeran is no stranger to winning major awards, and he just added an Emmy to his impressive collection. The British hitmaker won his first Emmy Award for outstanding original music and lyrics for “A Beautiful Game” from the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso.

“A Beautiful Game” was featured in the final episode of Season 3 of Ted Lasso, and it served as the proper sendoff to our favorite soccer coach. Ed Sheeran shared his Emmy for this song with his fellow co-writers Max Martin and Foy Vance and thanked the Television Academy for honoring them with an emotional post on social media.

Sheeran apologized for not accepting the award in person at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, explaining he’s currently touring across Asia, and also recalled co-writing and recording this song alongside Martin and Vance.

“Two years ago this month we got in together and wrote a song about love and football, and how it is always about the journey rather than the destination. I recorded a crowd at one of my stadium shows for it singing the final chant to keep it in the footie vibes,” wrote Sheeran on Instagram.

Sam Ryder’s “Fought & Lost” from Ted Lasso was also up for an Emmy Award for outstanding original music and lyrics, along with songs from Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia, Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q, Amazon Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Roku’s Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

Ed Sheeran has given us one of his biggest hits with “Perfect”, and its popularity isn’t fading away, especially with the newlyweds. The list of the most popular wedding songs of 2023 is here, and it’s led by Sheeran’s romantic ballad from his 2017 album Divide.

A new study conducted by Encore Musicians rounded up the most popular wedding songs in the UK over the course of the past 12 months, and Sheeran’s “Perfect” came on top. According to this study, 16% of newlyweds in the UK enjoyed their first dance while this ballad played in the background. Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” also made the cut and occupied the fourth spot on the list.

John Legend‘s “All Of Me”, Elvis Presley‘s “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, and Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” also made it to the top five, and they were in pretty good company.

The list of songs in the top ten also included “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele, “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “At Last” by Etta James, “Marry You” by Bruno Mars, and “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder.

Encore Musicians is one of the UK’s most popular booking platforms for musicians, and they used the data from over 3,000 events to conduct this study.

Ed Sheeran kicked off a new era of his career with his latest album Autumn Variations, and his fans in the UK were certainly paying attention. The singer’s latest LP easily topped the charts in his home country, becoming his seventh consecutive album to do so.

Autumn Variations hit the shelves on September 29, and Sheeran released it through his own label Gingerbread Man. The album features a total of 14 tracks, inspired by the singer’s friends, but Sheeran opted not to drop any singles or music videos from this record and released ambiental live performances of the album’s tracklist instead.

Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Sheeran thanked everyone who helped make Autumn Variations the No. 1 album in the UK and added this award means more than any before it because this is his first album on his own record label Gingerbread Man Records.

“I had no expectations for the record other than for fans to love it and feel it was their own. It being on my own label meant it didn’t have the usual pressures or expectations, but to end up going #1 is mad and I really don’t take it for granted,” wrote Sheeran on Instagram.

To make the whole thing even better, Autumn Variations isn’t even Sheeran’s first album to top the charts in the UK this year. His final mathematical-themed album Subtract hit the shelves back in May, and it was the fastest-selling album of 2023 in the UK at the time, with 76,000 chart units earned during its first week.

Ed Sheeran’s mathematical era may be over, but he’s ready to explore some new horizons. His second studio album this year, Autumn Variations, is his love better to both his friends and fans, but it’s likely we’ll forget it long before this season is over.

Sheeran never seemed too interested in breaking new grounds with his music, but that didn’t stop him from scoring chart-topping hits and filling stadiums all around the globe. He got out of his comfort zone after joining forces with Aaron Dessner for his last album Subtract, and they kept collaborating on Autumn Variations.

Dessner’s work with Taylor Swift on her 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore gave us some great songs, but results have been more uneven in Sheeran’s case. Autumn Variations suffers from the same mistakes he made with Subtract, and it’s too mellow and forgettable to make any real impact, but we can’t help but appreciate his effort to try something different.

Autumn Variations draws inspiration from Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations, and its 14 songs are dedicated to Sheeran’s friends who inspired them. The singer released this album through his own label Gingerbread Man Records and said he’s not planning to release any singles or music videos, making it clear he just wants to march to the beat of his own drum and do something nice for his fans.

It’s tough to single out any standout songs on this record because they eventually all blend into one. “American Town” and “England” emerged as fan favorites so far due to Sheeran’s ability to effortlessly draw us into his world with his immersive lyrics.

Autumn Variations may not be a groundbreaking or revolutionary record, but it serves its purpose. Sheeran’s fans will welcome it like a warm hug on a cold November day, while everyone else will probably want to skip to the next season.

Ed Sheeran announced he’ll be releasing a live version of his upcoming album Autumn Variations, and this record came together in a pretty interesting way. The British hitmaker recently shared a fun backstory behind his upcoming live album and revealed it was recorded in the homes of his loyal fans.

Sheeran did a great job promoting the release of Autumn Variations, his first non-collaborative LP outside of his mathematical era. In addition to releasing a regular album, Sheeran revealed that the live version of Autumn Variations is coming soon.

He shared the news on social media, revealing he made this album by doing surprise pop-up gigs in fans’ houses, recording each song in a different living room. He even agreed to play some of the songs from his previous albums for his fans, including “Wake Me Up” from his debut album Plus, which he then posted on social media.

Autumn Variations will hit the shelves on September 29, and it will feature 14 tracks honoring Sheeran’s friends, drawing inspiration from Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations.

“I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time. There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness, and confusion,” wrote Sheeran in his initial album announcement.

Ed Sheeran has been dropping hilarious hints about his next album in recent weeks, and the cat is finally out of the bag! The British hitmaker officially announced the release of his second album this year, Autumn Variations, set to come out this September.

From starring in a fake “Damper Hamper” informercial to sharing a photo of himself surrounded by fallen leaves replaced with hundreds of photos of his head, Sheeran took a pretty funny approach to teasing his new album. It was just a matter of time before he officially announced the release of his autumn-themed album, and that moment is finally here!

Autumn Variations will hit the shelves on September 29, and its name is inspired by Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations. He dedicated his seminal work to his “friends pictured within”, and Sheeran embraced a similar approach to his new studio album.

Autumn Variations will feature a total of 14 songs, inspired by the life changes that Sheeran and his friends were going through last autumn.

“I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time. There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness, and confusion,” wrote Sheeran in a statement announcing his new album.

Ed Sheeran will be performing across the U.S. all summer long, and a surprise guest joined him during his latest show in Detroit. Eminem stunned his hometown by performing alongside Sheeran during the latest Mathematics World Tour stop in Detroit.

Sheeran brought the hip-hop icon onstage to perform a couple of tracks during his recent concert. The British hitmaker started playing Eminem’s smash hit “Lose Yourself” before the rapper emerged on stage, and they went on to perform “Stan” by each other’s side, with Sheeran filling in for Dido’s parts.

Sheeran and Eminem go way back and they recorded several songs together, including “River”, “Those Kinda Nights”, and “Remember the Name” ft. 50 Cent. This performance is somewhat of a full-circle moment for the duo, since they had their very first studio session in Eminem’s studio in Detroit.

“Actually, [the] first time we met, we didn’t make music. I hung out there for about four hours, and we just spoke Marvel and Avengers for about four hours. And then the next time I went back, we made a tune,” said Sheeran while speaking to Apple Music back in 2021.

Sheeran’s The Mathematics Tour kicked off in April last year, and it includes a total of 88 shows that will keep him on the road until September 23.

The iHeartRadio Titanium Awards are dedicated to songs that managed to cross one billion spins across iHeart stations, and the list of this year’s recipients is in. Latto, Doja Cat, and Ed Sheeran are among the artists to score Titanium Award-winning songs this time around.

The list of songs to cross one billion spins by 2023 includes Doja Cat‘s “Woman,” Ed Sheeran‘s “Shivers,” Jack Harlow‘s “First Class,” Latto‘s “Big Energy” and Wizkid and Tems‘ “Essence”, based on total audience impressions.

Ed Sheeran even accepted his award in person while visiting iHeartRadio in New York, and said it’s really, really, really cool to have their listeners so invested in his music.

“You always wonder every album whether you’re going to lose the kids, because I constantly have young people coming to my gigs. With ‘Shivers,’ all these kids keep coming up to me saying they like ‘Shivers,’ and I’m like, ‘Alright, I still got them,’” said Sheeran in a statement.

All five songs were released during the 2020s, and “Essence” by Wizkid and Tems has been around the longest, after being released in October 2020. “Shivers”, “Big Energy”, and “Woman” were all released in 2021, while Jack Harlow’s “First Class” reached one billion spins during the shortest time frame, after hitting the shelves in April last year.

Becky G’s new LP Esquinas also swept us off our feet and gave us several amazing tunes, including “2ndo Chance” ft. Ivan Cornejo.

Our list includes several more fantastic collaborations, including The Rolling Stones’ “Sweet Sounds Of Heaven” ft. Lady Gaga & Stevie Wonder, Jung Kook’s “3D” ft. Jack Harlow, and Empress Of’s “Kiss Me” ft. Rina Sawayama. *NSYNC’s comeback single “Better Place” and Bad Bunny’s viral hit “Un Preview” also made the cut, so stick around to hear them out.
