The post Kendrick Lamar Stirs Commotion With His “Not Like Us” Video appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Directed by Dave Free and Lamar, the “Not Like Us” visual is filled with countless Easter eggs referencing the feud between the two rappers. From doing push-ups as a reference to Drake’s song of the same name to hitting a piñata reminiscent of Drake’s OVO Owl, Lamar made sure to take a hit at Drake every chance he got.
The music video “Not Like Us” stirred quite a commotion after hitting the shelves on Independence Day, and attracted millions of views on YouTube. Even before this video hit the shelves, “Not Like Us” was already the most successful song to come out of the Lamar-Drake feud, and it set several streaming records before debuting atop the Billboard Hot 100.
Its popularity just kept rising after Lamar first released it in early May. His performance at the Juneteenth concert in Inglewood, California titled “Pop Out: Ken & Friends” brought even more attention to this song after Lamar performed it six times alongside several notable guest stars.

]]>The heated feud between Lamar and Drake erupted in recent weeks, and it can be traced to Lamar’s surprise appearance on Future and Metro Boomin’s single “Like That”. This song spent three weeks at No. 1, but it’s no longer Lamar’s only diss track to top the charts this year.
The back and forth between the two rappers produced several songs, and “Not Like Us” is shaping up to be the biggest hit. It drew 70.9 million official streams, 5 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 15,000 sold during its debut week to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise since this track made Spotify history by attracting more single-day streams than any rap song in the platform’s history.
“Not Like Us” isn’t the only song in the top ten that we owe to Lamar’s feud with Drake. He also soared from No. 11 to No. 3 with “Euphoria”, while Drake’s “Family Matters” debuted at No. 7.

]]>Drake and Lamar seemed to be on good terms and even collaborated during the early stages of their careers, but those days are long behind them. Their feud has been brewing for quite some time, but they mostly stuck to subtle jabs, until the situation escalated in recent months.
The two rappers found themselves in the middle of a full-blown feud after Lamar slammed Drake on “Like That” from Future and Metro Boomin’s collaborative album We Don’t Trust You. This diss track hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and Drake was quick to respond with his own diss tracks “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle” earlier this month.
Lamar wasn’t holding back for too long, and he went into full attack mode on his new song “Euphoria”. The six-minute track marks Lamar’s first solo release since his latest album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, and it sees him questioning Drake’s merits in the world of hip-hop and beyond.

]]>The backstory behind this music video is pretty wild, and it kicks off with Drake and SZA having a fun time at a house party with Se-yy Red, before her water breaks. SZA gets mad at Drake because he’s filming the whole thing, but he tries to make excuses for himself by saying he’s just trying to capture the moment.
They rush Se-yy Red to the hospital, and the video ends with her and SZA dancing in the hallway and holding the baby. The video wraps up with Se-yy Red’s real-life post-birth photo, captioned with a heartwarming message “Congratulations Red!!! We love you.”
“Rich Baby Daddy” was released as the third single from Drake’s eighth studio album For All the Dogs, which hit the shelves in October last year. This LP also featured collaborations with 21 Savage, J. Cole, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, and Lil Yachty, and it hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts, with all of its 23 tracks debuting on the Billboard Hot 100.

]]>Drake revealed his plans to go overseas while discussing his New Year’s resolutions during a recent live stream on streaming platform Stake.
“I’m definitely going on a Europe tour next year,” Drake exclusively revealed to the viewers.
The “God’s Plan” rapper also mentioned several destinations in which he would like to perform for the first time including Italy, Albania, and Tokyo, Japan.
Drake last performed in Europe in 2019 as part of the Assassination Vacation Tour with Tory Lanez. The duo performed shows in the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Drake, who released his most recent album, For All The Dogs, back in October, will return on the road in January for Big as the What? Tour. The trip, which also features J. Cole as a co-headliner, includes 32 dates through March, with stops in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, and Kansas City, among other cities.

]]>Swift picked up 10 awards at this year’s BBMAs, starting with the top artist. By doing so, she brought her total to 39 wins at the Billboard Music Awards, tying the record with Drake for most awards won by a single artist, after he picked up an additional five trophies on Sunday.
Swift tuned in via pre-recorded message from her latest The Eras Tour stop in Brazil and thanked her fans for making this triumph possible.
“Well, this is unreal. The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards – I’m talking to the fans specifically. None of this happens without you… You made The Eras Tour so magical. You went and saw the movie, you cared about my re-recordings. I just love you so much,” said Swift.
Despite making history, Swift wasn’t the ceremony’s top-winning artist this year. Morgan Wallen collected a total of 11 awards, thanks to his hit album One Thing at the Time and its chart-topping hit “Last Night”. Drake walked away with five awards, followed by Zach Bryan and SZA with four each.

]]>Minaj was one of the artists expected to be featured on Drake’s new album For All the Dogs, and her fans were shocked to see her missing from the tracklist. It eventually turned out that Drake and Minaj were working on something after all, and “For All the Barbz” hit the shelves just two weeks after the release of Drake’s new album.
The freestyle in “For All the Barbz” sees Minaj taking aim at other rappers who followed in her footsteps, many of whom she collaborated with in the past. The line VMAs was a family reunion / First time in a while I seen all of my sons” makes it pretty clear she’s referring to Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Ice Spice.
Mina’s next album Pink Friday 2 will hit the shelves on November 17, and it will feature previously released singles “Last Time I Saw You” and “Super Freaky Girl”, which became the first solo female rap song to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the 21st century.

]]>For All the Dogs hit the shelves on October 6, and easily climbed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, with 402,000 album-equivalent units sold during its first week. With 13 No. 1 albums in the US, Drake is just one LP away from passing Jay-Z, but it will take some time before he comes even close to The Beatles with 19 No. 1 albums.
All of 23 tracks from For All the Dogs made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week, with seven debuting in the top ten alone! “First Person Shooter” ft. J. Cole hit No. 1, becoming his 13th chart-leader, helping Drake tie Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits among solo male acts.
The success of For All the Dogs also helped Drake become the first act with over 300 Hot 100 entries (320) and set or extend several more records – most No. 1 debuts (nine), top five hits (41), top 10 hits (76), top 20 hits (132), and top 40 hits (199).
