Our favorite artists bring amazing new songs our way each and every week, but they’ve truly been working overtime in the past few days. Our list of the best songs of the week is a true embarrassment of riches this time around, and it includes everyone from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars to Lisa and Rosalía.

Two of the buzziest new songs this week saw our favorite artists join forces. Lady Gaga found a perfect partner in crime in Bruno Mars and rocked our world with their collaboration “Die with a Smile”, while Lisa and Rosalía joined forces for a sleek and confident girl power anthem “New Woman”.

When it comes to new albums released this week, Post Malone finally shared his country-leaning new LP F-1 Trillion. This record produced many hit collaborations even before hitting the shelves, and “Have The Heart” ft. Dolly Parton is among the album’s best.

The indie pop band Foster the People returned with a new album Paradise State of Mind, and impressed us with the new song “See You in the Afterlife”, while Hozier’s new EP Unaired has given us three new songs, including “Nobody’s Soldier”.

Halsey also created a lot of buzz with her new single “Lonely is the Muse”, and managed to make it to our list alongside The Blessed Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Bishop Briggs, Benson Boone, and Coco Jones.

Lisa – “New Woman” feat. Rosalía

Dolly Parton’s music career spans over five decades, and she’s still finding new ways to surprise us. The country legend knocked it out of the park with her latest record Rockstar, and managed to score her highest-charting studio album on the Billboard 200 chart.

Rockstar debuted at no. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, behind Drake’s For All the Boys and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version). It’s the highest-charting new album this week with 128,000 equivalent album units earned, consisting of 118,500 in album sales, 8,000 in SEA units, and 1,500 in TEA units.

Rockstar is the highest-charting album of Parton’s career, and the third to hit the top ten, following Blue Smoke from 2014 and her collaborative album Trio with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris from 1987, which both hit no. 6.

Rockstar also helped Parton score the biggest sales week for an album in the modern era, in addition to marking her biggest week by units earned since Billboard embraced this charting system in 2014. It also debuted atop the Top Country and Top Rock Albums charts.

Rockstar was released on November 17, and it marks Parton’s first foray into the rock genre. It features both original songs and covers of beloved rock classics, recorded alongside the likes of Sting, Miley Cyrus, Debbie Harry, Elton John, Lizzo, and Paul McCartney.

Headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show is an opportunity of a lifetime, and there’s a reason why we never got to see Dolly Parton on that stage. The country legend recently revealed she turned down multiple offers to headline the Big Game because she didn’t feel like she was “big enough to do it.”

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Parton revealed she was asked to perform at the Super Bowl “many times” but always decided to say no.

“I couldn’t do it because of other things, or I just didn’t think I was big enough to do it – to do that big of a production. When you think about those shows, those are big, big productions. I’ve never done anything with that big of a production,” said Parton.

This wasn’t the first time Parton’s modesty almost cost her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Back in 2022, she was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but initially declined the offer because she didn’t feel like she “earned the right” to compete with other rock artists. She later changed her mind and was eventually announced as one of the inductees.

Following her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Parton decided to release an album of rock covers and original songs titled Rockstar, which will be released on November 17.

Holograms and AI have brought several iconic musicians back from the dead, but Dolly Parton doesn’t intend to become one of them. The country legend recently addressed the idea of becoming a hologram after she dies and she took a firm stance against this high-tech concept.

In an interview with The Independent, Parton jokingly said that “everything” about her, including “any intelligence” was artificial anyway, adding that there are ways to keep her here without turning to high-tech innovations.

“I think I’ve left a great body of work behind. I have to decide how much of that high-tech stuff I want to be involved [with] because I don’t want to leave my soul here on this earth. I think with some of this stuff I’ll be grounded here forever,” she told The Independent.

Even without Parton’s contribution, the music industry is not suffering from the shortage of holograms of beloved musicians. Whitney Houston became a hologram during the posthumous concert tour called An Evening with Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour, while ABBA just recently hopped on this trend with a residency concert in London called ABBA: Voyage.

Parton is too busy these days to think about becoming a hologram anyway. She’s gearing up for the release of her first rock and roll album Rockstar, which will feature collaborations with Sting, Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, Elton John, Steven Tyler, Kid Rock, and many more.

Dolly Parton’s next album will be one star-studded affair, and she finally shared the full tracklist with the world. Her upcoming album Rockstar will feature a total of 30 songs and it will include contributions from such iconic artists as Sting, Stevie Nicks, and Debbie Harry.

Rockstar will feature a total of nine original songs and 21 covers, each one more amazing than the last. Queen’s “We Are the Champions”, Prince’s “Purple Rain”, and Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” are only some of the all-time classics she’ll cover on this album.

Parton said she was excited to finally present her very first rock’n’roll album and thanked all the artists who made this possible.

“I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!” the country legend said in a statement.

Parton has been plotting Rockstar ever since she was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, and she reached out to several dream collaborators who agreed to join her. Rockstar will be released on November 17, with “World on Fire” serving as its first single.

Our list of best new songs of the week always covers many different genres, but alternative artists are dominating it this time around. From The National to PJ Harvey, some of our favorite indie rock acts surprised us with amazing new music this week.

Most of the songs on our list hail from newly released albums, covering many different genres. The National’s First Two Pages of Frankenstein is our favorite new release, and each song on this LP deserves a mention, but none of them created more buzz than “The Alcott” featuring Taylor Swift.

Jack Harlow’s Jackman came out of nowhere—quite literarily—since the rapper announced its release just a few days before dropping ten new songs, including “Common Ground”. Labrinth and Diplo also released new albums this week and gave us a few amazing collaborations along the way.

Bebe Rexha’s latest album Bebe is also a collaboration-heavy record featuring several music legends, starting with the country icon Dolly Parton, featured on her new single “Seasons”.

Our list this week also includes new songs from Kesha, PJ Harvey, Niall Horan, and Jessie Ware, so check it out and choose your favorite.

Kesha – “Eat the Acid”

Labrinth – “The Feels”

The National – “The Alcott (feat. Taylor Swift)”

PJ Harvey – “A Child’s Question, August”

Bebe Rexha & Dolly Parton – “Seasons”

Jack Harlow – “Common Ground”

Jessie Ware – “That! Feels Good!”

Diplo – “Sad in the Summer (feat. Lily Rose)”

Rico Nasty – “Turn It Up”

Niall Horan – “Meltdown”

ACM Awards are one of the year’s most anticipated ceremonies with the fans of country music, and this year’s show is shaping up to be amazing. Dolly Parton is returning to host the live show, and she’ll be joined by equally amazing co-host—Garth Brooks.

The country legend Parton hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards on several occasions in the past, both solo and with fellow co-hosts Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett. She’s excited to do it with Brooks this time around because they’ve wanted to work together for a long time.

“We’ve always admired each other musically and as people and how we handle our business. So this is a great thrill for me. I think the fans are going to enjoy seeing us together, ‘cause Lord knows he’s got fans and I got a few,” Parton told Billboard.

This will mark the first hosting duty for Brooks, but he’s no stranger to taking the ACM Awards stage. He collected 22 awards at this ceremony in the past, including the record-setting six trophies for entertainer of the year.

Parton and Brooks will hit the ACM Awards stage on May 11 at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, and the list of nominees is yet to be announced.

Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party return to NBC for the second time this year and it was even more epic than the first time around. Miley Cyrus co-hosted the show along with her godmother Dolly Parton and brought many surprise guests on stage, giving us one epic moment after another along the way.

“Wrecking Ball”/”I Will Always Love You” Duet

We’re used to Parton and Cyrus performing “Jolene” by each other’s side, but we’ve seen them sing a few more songs together this time around. One of the show’s best moments blended Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Parton’s ”I Will Always Love You” together in perfect harmony.

Teasing New Music

Cyrus rang in the new year by teasing some new music, starting with a new single “Flowers”, set to launch on January 13. She also started a countdown on her official website, teasing something that’s set to come out in just three days, but we’re yet to find out what.

“Stars Are Blind” Performance

One of the most epic moments at Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party came when Sia and Paris Hilton joined Cyrus on stage. The trio performed an amazing rendition of Hilton’s 2006 hit “Stars Are Blind”, giving us major nostalgia overload along the way.
