Glastonbury is one of the most iconic festivals in the world, and it will live up to its reputation this year. The 2024 lineup has officially been unveiled, and SZA, Coldplay, and Dua Lipa have been chosen as this year’s headliners.

Coldplay will make history as the first act to lead the bill five times, after previously headlining Glastonbury in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016. Their performance at this festival will be a part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, which kicked off in early 2022 and went on to become the third-highest-grossing tour of all time.

As for Dua Lipa, her Glastonbury headlining spot was announced just a day after she officially teased the release of her third studio album Radical Optimism. It will hit the shelves on May 3, and she promoted its release with singles “Houdini” and “Training Season”.

SZA filled the third headlining spot, making this year’s Glastonbury the first one ever to have two female headliners. She made quite a splash with her sophomore studio album SOS, and she’s planning to release its long-awaited reissue Lana later this year.

The 2024 Glastonbury Festival will take place at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset between June 26-30, and you can check out the full lineup below:

It’s been over two decades since the release of Coldplay’s smash hit “Yellow”, and they’re still pushing boundaries with this song. The music video for “Yellow” just joined YouTube’s Billion Views Club, becoming the band’s fifth song to reach this coveted number.

“Yellow” was originally released as the second single from Coldplay’s debut album Parachutes in 2000. It became the band’s breakout hit and helped thrust them into popularity, despite only peaking at No. 48 in the US and reaching No. 4 in the UK.

“Yellow” is the British band’s fifth song to reach one billion views on YouTube, following in the footsteps of “Paradise”, “Adventure of a Lifetime”, “The Scientist”, and “Hymn for the Weekend” ft. Beyoncé.

The song’s minimalistic music video remains as iconic as the song itself and features one continuous shot with no cuts. It shows the band’s frontman Chris Martin singing the song while walking along the beach in slow motion.

The legacy of this song has been cemented by its frequent usage in popular culture, in addition to countless covers and samples, including Lizzo’s “Coldplay” from her album Special.

“Yellow” remains one of Coldplay’s signature hits and it made it to multiple lists of the best songs of the 21st century, including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s list of “Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll”.

Elton John’s record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour came to a close this weekend, and the last show was full of surprises. Coldplay tuned in via live stream during the concert in Stockholm, Sweden to pay an emotional tribute to the legendary singer.

Chris Martin and his bandmates were simultaneously performing in Gothenburg, Sweden, while John’s final Farewell Tour show was happening at Stockholm’s Tele2Arena. They took a moment to tune in via a video broadcast, which was beamed out at the musicians’ respective concerts in Sweden after Coldplay delivered an emotional cover of John’s all-time classic “Rocketman”.

Martin addressed John directly in the touching video and reflected on many amazing things he has done over the years.

“Elton, from all of us here, from all the bands and all the artists that you’ve loved and inspired and helped, we just love you so much. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done for us, everything you’ve done for the AIDS Foundation. Every time you’ve been kind to anybody,” said Martin.

John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road came to a close in Stockholm on July 8, after five years and 333 shows. It made history as the highest-grossing tour of all time and the first one to ever cross the $900 million mark.

It’s been almost a year since Coldplay dropped their latest studio album Music of the Spheres and they’re not done promoting it just yet. The British band dropped a euphoric music video for “Humankind”, which takes us straight to one of their concerts in Mexico City.

With this music video, Coldplay wanted to pay homage to the “best fans in the world” and put their experience front and center. The intimate visual shows them performing in front of a massive crowd of nearly 260,000 fans and making this experience a part of the “Humankind” music video makes total sense since they couldn’t wait to perform it live.

Humankind was probably the hardest song to record on the album, just because we couldn’t quite get the feel of it right until the end of the sessions. And then suddenly it all clicked into place and now we’re really excited to play it live,” wrote Jonny Buckland on Twitter.

“Humankind” is one of the songs featured on Coldplay’s latest album Music of the Spheres, which was released in October last year. BTS collaboration “My Universe” debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US, transforming Coldplay into the first British band in history to achieve that feat. This album also produced hit singles “Higher Power” and “Let Somebody Go”.

If you don’t have TikTok, you won’t be able to rock with Coldplay. The British band is set to play a special concert next Monday (May 24th), with the performance being exclusively live-streamed on this popular social media.

The concert is part of the group’s contribution to Red Nose Day USA. This is an annual campaign aiming to end child poverty by supporting programs that address “both the immediate needs of children in poverty while fostering long-term change.”

Coldplay will play a four-song set from their London studio and simultaneously broadcast it on their official TikTok profile. The band is extremely popular among TikTok users, who used their latest single “Higher Power” as a soundtrack for more than 123,000 short videos featured on the platform.

You can check out more details about Coldplay’s TikTok concert below.

“Red Nose Day do amazing things around the world to keep children safe, healthy, educated, and empowered,” said Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin in a press release. “We’re really happy to be able to support their work with this performance.”

Before the TikTok concert, Coldplay will take part in another Livestream event. The group will be part of Glastonbury’s Live At Worthy Farm on May 22nd and May 23rd, which serves as a substitute for the canceled 2021 edition of the festival.

Coldplay is currently working on a new album, which will follow the Grammy-nominated Everyday Life from 2019. The previously mentioned track “Higher Power” serves as the first single from the album.

While Coldplay decided to take a break from touring, this doesn’t mean the band has stopped performing altogether. The British group recently took part in NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, where they performed a number of songs from their most recent album Everyday Life as well as few other intriguing tracks.

Coldplay, who were joined by For Love Choir, opened the set with “Cry Cry Cry,” before turning back the clock and performing2008’s hit single “Viva La Vida.” Then, following another new song, “Broken,” Chris Martin and co. decided to treat the radio’s listeners with a cover of Prince’s “1999.” The set wrapped up with “Champion of the World.”

Check out Coldplay’s Tiny Desk Concert in full below or directly on NPR.

Coldplay released Everyday Life in November 2019, putting an end to a four-year studio break. The album was well-received and topped the charts in more than 10 countries, including the UK. It wasn’t as successful in the U.S., however, peaking at No.7 on US Billboard 200.

Although the group was expected to follow up the release with a world tour, they opted not to go on the road “until they had addressed concerns regarding travel and the environmental impact of the shows.”

Coldplay’s last album is a gift that keeps on giving, and just when we thought we’ve seen it all, the British band shared a nostalgic video for their latest single “Champion of the World”.

The Cloé Bailly-directed video sees the band’s frontman Chris Martin taking on the role of a shy schoolboy, who’s facing many hardships. He’s bullied by both his parents and peers, but he finds an escape from it all through music and imagination.

Members of Coldplay credited the late Frightened Rabbit frontman, Scott Hutchinson, as one of the co-writers of this song. Martin explained they wanted to pay homage to the Scottish singer because his solo track “Los Angeles, Be Kind” served as a major inspiration for this single.

“When I first heard [‘Los Angeles, Be Kind’], I thought it was going to go one way; but it went another. Anyway, ‘Champion of the World’ is the song that came from following the other path, and that’s why Scott is a co-writer on this song,” explained Martin.

After performing an emotional cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You” during the iHeartRadio Living Room Series back in May, Sam Smith has finally released their first version of the song.

“Thank you @Coldplay for writing such a beautiful song,” Smith wrote along with a clip of him singing the song on Instagram.

“I love this song, and as soon as I heard it I was just reminded again of how much of a classic it is,” Smith said of the cover before they performed it.

During the coronavirus, Smith said they’ve “fallen in love with singing again,” and that they loving singing songs that aren’t their own.

Back in May, Smith released a collab with Demi Lovato, “I’m Ready,” and announced in March that their third album, To Die For, would be pushed back from its original May 1 release date. This album’s release date hasn’t been rescheduled, but Smith said it should debut later this year.

An exclusive series of Citi Sound Vault shows are coming back to Los Angeles just in time for the Grammys. And, the most perfect line-up was chosen for this event, with Jonas Brothers and Coldplay serving as headliners.

The series of all-star performances will take place at the Hollywood Palladium, five days leading up to the Grammy Awards, starting on January 21st. In addition to Jonas Brothers and Coldplay, Brittany Howard and Brandi Carlile are also expected to perform at this event.

The Citi Sound Vault performance is especially important to Jonas Brothers, who pulled off the most amazing comeback of 2019 and haven’t performed at this venue since they parted ways a decade ago.

“We are so excited to be partnering with Citi and playing at the Palladium after 10 years. This has been one of the most incredible years for us, and being part of this series is such a great culmination of it all,” said the trio in a statement.
