]]>Shortly after announcing The Loveliest Time on social media, the Canadian singer decided to share some more exciting news about this record. Its release date has officially been confirmed, and we’ll get to hear her new album in full on July 28.
In an official statement announcing her new LP, Jepsen said that “after a season of hibernation comes the season of blossoming.” She’s ready to embrace a different energy after getting to know loneliness and discovering the beauty in it on her previous record.
“The loneliest time taught me that growth comes from being planted in darkness. But now the world has opened itself back up again and in turn so have we. It’s time for celebration and for all the lessons we have learned to burst into joyful action,” she wrote on social media.
Since The Loveliest Time serves as the companion piece to her previous album, it will feature songs from sessions for The Loneliest Time, along with the first single “Shy Boy”.

“Don’t Speak” was part of No Doubt’s 1995 third studio album Tragic Kingdom, but ended up being released as a single in 1996. The track quickly became popular in both the U.S. and worldwide and is now considered the group’s staple song. It was nominated for Song of the Year at the 1998’s Grammy Award.
Carly Rae Jepsen released Dedicated in May, with the album receiving favorable reviews and reaching No.18 at US Billboard 200 charts and No.26 on UK Albums charts. ]]>The young hit-maker discussed her latest LP in a recent interview with SF Weekly and said it was heavily influenced by ’70s disco, especially ABBA, the Bee-Gees, and Donna Summer. Jepsen even admitted she was very close to releasing a disco record, but eventually decided to go in a different direction.
“I had an album I named Disco Sweat that will probably never be released, and shouldn’t… I ended up getting out of a rut and found some songs that were a little ’90s that I wanted to include, a little something that made more sense than this Disco Sweat, that will be buried in my backyard,” Rae Jepsen said.
Since this album never came to be, she decided to release Dedicated instead. It came out on May 17th, and gave us the singles “Now That I Found You”, “No Drug Like Me” and “Too Much”.

]]>In an interview with NME, the pop queen admits that she used to have issues with the track, but has finally come to terms with it being out there.
“At this point? It’s good… it’s neither good or bad, but I see what you’re saying,” she confessed. “It’s just not really an issue anymore. For me personally, I think there was a time when it felt like this big weight to carry. I think the rollercoaster of my ‘Call Me Maybe’ relationship was like: ‘Wow, this is so fantastic!’ And then like: ‘No, this is terrifying!’ And then it got to a place where I was like, how am I going to move past this?
“But I feel like I shed all that fear with moving past ‘Kiss’ into ‘Emotion’ and then ‘Side B’. So by the time I was taking on this album, my relationship with the song was more about it being a fun moment in the [live] set versus something that I needed to feel challenged by.”
So ultimately, it’s OK to be a fan of Carly Rae Jepsen’s gorgeous new album Dedicated while still shamelessly busting out a move to “Call Me Maybe” at pre-drinks.
