]]>This week marked the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts (Spilled), the long-awaited deluxe edition of her latest studio album. This album gave us five amazing new songs, but “Obsessed” is shaping up to be another instant hit in Rodrigo’s impressive discography.
Metro Boomin and Future also made it to our list with “Like That” ft. Kendrick Lamar from their collaborative album We Don’t Trust You. Speaking of amazing collaborations, Shakira’s “Puntería” ft. Cardi B was released as the last single from her new album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.
If you’re a fan of indie music, don’t fret because we also made room for some of the favorite alternative artists on this week’s list. Kick things off by listening to Fletcher’s new album In Search of the Antidote, including our favorite song “Pretending”.
Hozier also returned to our list this week, along with Aurora, Girl in Red, Sabrina Carpenter, Maggie Rogers, and many more amazing artists whose songs deserve a spot on your playlist.

]]>Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest is just five days away, and the masterminds behind it shared some exciting news about the show. The Grammy-winner Cardi B has been added to the lineup, and she’s expected to tune in from Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
As for L.L. Cool, the hip-hop legend will hit the stage in Times Square just before midnight. He’s joining an impressive lineup of NYC performers, which also includes the rapper Megan Thee Stallion, country star Jelly Roll, pop singer Sabrina Carpenter, and the rising star Tyla.
The list of artists leading Hollywood festivities is just as impressive and includes the likes of Aqua, Ellie Goulding, Green Day, Janelle Monáe, Bebe Rexha, Ludacris, Reneé Rapp, Coco Jones, and Thirty Seconds to Mars, among others. Post Malone will perform in Las Vegas, while the girl group NewJeans will tune in from South Korea.
Rita Ora will co-cost the Times Square show alongside Seacrest, while Jeannie Mai will emcee the Hollywood party from Los Angeles.

]]>Travis Scott’s Utopia is definitely the week’s most anticipated new release, and it’s given us more epic collaborations than we can count. Scott even managed to bring Beyonce on board, and gave us one of the album’s best songs with “Delresto (Echoes)”.
Post Malone also knocked it out of the park with his self-titled new album Austin, and we opted for “Enough is Enough” as its best new song. The English pop star Anne-Marie also dropped a new album this Friday, and her Khalid collaboration “You & I” made it to our list.
This week has been amazing for hip-hop releases, starting with “Jealousy” by Offset & Cardi B, but we also made sure to include some songs that don’t fall under this genre. From Mitski’s “Bug Like an Angel” and The Kills’ “New York” to “Desire” by Calvin Harris and Sam Smith, there’s something for everyone on our list of the best songs of the week.

]]>The relationship drama between Offset and Cardi B often made headlines, but they eventually decided to transform it into music instead of letting others tell their story. They both used their respective verses to call out haters who spread rumors and speculations about their relationship.
The music video for “Jealousy” was directed by Offset, and the couple decided to make it a family affair. All of Offset’s kids appeared in this music video, including his two children with Cardi B. Taraji P. Henson also made a cameo, while Jamie Lee Curtis appeared in the promo video spoofing James Brown’s memorable 1988 CNN interview.
“Jealousy” marks the sixth collaboration between the couple, following “Um Yea”, “Lick (Remix)”, “MotorSport”, “Drip”, and “Clout”. It will most likely be a part of Offset’s next album since the rapper said he’s in “album mode” earlier this year. Cardi B is also plotting the follow-up to her hit debut album Invasion of Privacy, which is expected to feature her chart-topping singles “Up” and “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.

]]>This week marked the release of several new albums, but Foo Fighters’ But Here We Are is the buzziest of them all. The ten-minute track “The Teacher” was unleashed as the album’s fourth single ahead of its release, and it made it to our list of best songs.
This has also been an amazing week for epic collaboration and soundtrack music. Some of the songs on our list hail from hit movies and TV shows, including Ed Sheeran’s “A Beautiful Game” from Ted Lasso, Metro Boomin’s hip-hop infused “Calling” from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Weeknd’s “Popular” from The Idol, and “Watati” by Karol G and Aldo Ranks from Barbie.
Most of these songs are amazing collaborations between our favorite artists, but the list of A-list match-ups doesn’t end there. Latto and Cardi B gave us another show-stopping female-lead hip-hop duet with “Put It On Da Floor Again”, Lana Del Rey and her dad Rob Grant joined forces for “Lost at Sea”, and Nelly Furtado made her highly-anticipated comeback with “Eat Your Man” featuring Dom Dolla.

]]>The post Cardi B and Shakira Reportedly Plotting Big Summer Collaboration appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>According to the official website of the BMI record label, a song titled “Estoy Lamida” is registered under both of their names. Artists and their record labels register upcoming music in preparation for a release on BMI’s website, suggesting that this high-profile collab could be legit.
The duo is yet to confirm these rumors, but the idea isn’t far-fetched considering they seem to have a ton of respect for each other. Shakira performed Cardi B’s song “I Like It” alongside Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, and the Bronx rapper said it was crazy to witness this moment because she grew up listening to her music.
Releasing a splashy collaboration just in time for the summer would make total sense for Cardi B since she hasn’t dropped any new music since the start of 2023. Shakira, on the other hand, has been pretty busy since the start of the year – she broke several records with the viral hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and recently released a solo single “Acróstico”.

]]>This song was a long time coming and Cardi B revealed it was recorded before her Megan Thee Stallion collaboration “WAP”. She recorded the music video back in March, but the post-production is taking so long that she decided to share the song with the world first.
“This video has brought me so much drama. So this is the first time I ever do CGI. I’m very particular on how I like my things, and I really like when things look super realistic… I couldn’t maneuver or move how I wanted to, because I was very confused,” Cardi B told Zane Lowe.
She also dished about Kanye West’s verse, saying that he wrote it a few months ago, adding that she loves that it’s personal, but not too personal.
“Hot Sh-t” will be featured on Cardi B’s upcoming second studio album, which still doesn’t have a title or release date. This record was a long time in the making, and its previous singles “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and “Up” have been released in the past two years.

]]>Cardi B currently has five no. 1 singles in the U.S., making her the female rapper with most songs atop the chart. What makes “Up” different than most is that it doesn’t feature any accompanying artists. Together with “Bodak Yellow”, this is her second solo single to hit no. 1, and no other female hip-hop artist in history managed to achieve that feat.
Cardi B celebrated this historic success with a series of Instagram posts and stories, and she captioned one of them by writing, “I want God to come see me in my dreams when I take my nap today so I can kiss his feet and tell him how much I love him!!! I got no words.”
The Grammy-winning rapper also said she’s currently in “military studio album mode” and set high expectations for her sophomore album. In addition to “Up”, this record is also expected to feature her chart-topping single “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion.

]]>In one of her recent Instagram posts, the Grammy-winning star thanked everyone who helped her reach this historic milestone, adding she’s especially happy for this achievement because she put out “Bodak Yellow” when she was doubting herself the most.
“A couple of years ago I didn’t even understand what going diamond means or meant I just wanted to win and break in. This record changed my life. Thank you everyone who showed Bodak so much support,” wrote Cardi B on Instagram.
After “Bodak Yellow” came out in 2017, Cardi B became only the second rapper after Lauryn Hill to top the Billboard Hot 100 with a solo single. It went on to receive Grammy nominations for best rap performance and best rap song and won BET Hip Hop Award for the single of the year.

]]>When Carey asked Cardi if she had “any fears” about her highly-anticipated second album, the follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, Cardi spoke about the pressure for female rappers to succeed.
“People always have crazy expectations, especially when it comes to female rap,” she explained. “It’s not like it’s a competition, but people are always comparing and comparing and comparing. It’s almost like they want to see you fail.”
“I hate the feeling when I don’t do something really good. So I want my s*** to be good because my last album did so well, and if this one doesn’t do well, I’m going to feel really sad,” the “WAP” rapper added.
Cardi recently revealed that she is working on 50 songs for her new album, but that she isn’t ready to submit a final tracklist, even though she hopes to release the album this year.
