]]>This week has been pretty slow in terms of new releases because most of our favorite stars took a break to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones. That didn’t stop our favorite artists outside of the United States from dropping new music and giving us some amazing new songs in the process.
This has been an amazing week for female collaborations, and two of the best songs from our list fall under that category. Kali Uchis and Karol G knocked it out of the park with their new collaboration “Labios Mordidos”, while Björk and Rosalía seamlessly blended their unique artistic styles on their new duet “Oral”.
Speaking of great collaborations to make it to our list, Jacob Collier’s new song “Witness Me” is also worth listening to and features contributions from Shawn Mendes, Stormzy, and Kirk Franklin.
It’s also been a great week for alternative artists, with Winona Oak, The Japanese House, and Sam Fischer managing to beat tough competition and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week.

]]>This surreal video shows the Icelandic singer taking many different forms, as she shape-shifts in a dark abyss. It consists of multiple scenes from her “Cornucopia” stage show, created by visionary artist Tobias Gremmler.
“We based the visuals on the conversations between our inner optimist and pessimist. When I recorded this I tried to sing in a deeper tone for one of them in the left speaker and a higher optimist in the right. And if you listen on headphones it will match the imagery,” says the video description.
Her “Cornucopia” tour kicked off with a series of concerts in New York back in May, and it’s still going strong. She’ll go back on the road on August 17th, and perform four shows at the Parque Bicentenario in Mexico City, before heading to Europe in November.

]]>The visuals for “Tabula Rasa” are a true work of art, showing a humanoid figure undergoing a series of transformations in front of our very eyes.
This surreal video has to be seen to be believed, and its director Tobias Gremmler used the music and lyrics of Björk’s latest single as his main source of inspiration.
“The visual transformation of Björk into faun-like flowers and mountainous landscapes embodies the utopian concept of a harmonious coexistence between nature and human based on empathy,” explained Gremmler.
This media artist also helped Björk with her series of elaborate staged concerts titled Cornucopia. She thanked him for his dedication over the last 18 months and said she’s “sublimely grateful” for an opportunity to work with him.
“It has been a journey through abstract descriptions of tiny sections of songs, details and nuances, Skypes and texts and resting restless in the ambiguity of that meeting point between a song and a moving image,” wrote Björk on Facebook.

]]>The Icelandic artist recently bought her latest album ‘Utopia’ on tour. She introduced her festival shows with a short video on her goal of merging technology with nature to create a new and beautiful kind of art. Now, it looks like she plans to take her vision even further.
“I am very excited to announce that I will be part of The Shed opening season in Manhattan next spring,” she wrote on Instagram. “This winter, I will prepare my most elaborate stage concert yet, where the acoustic and digital will shake hands, encouraged by a bespoke team of collaborators.”

]]>She opened the set with a video explaining that the music we were about to experience represented the merging of nature and technology. Giant orchids, pixies playing flute and spectral videos of birds and flowers were among some of the breathtaking features of the show.
The set itself featured mainly songs from Bjork’s latest album, Utopia. Atmospheric and intriguing sounds pulsed through the enormous crowd and Bjork’s voice sounded as incredible as ever. She was dressed in a beautiful orchid-like gown, topped off with a dazzling mask.
As well as her latest sounds, Bjork surprised the audience with a track from her debut album, “Human Behavior,” which the Icelandic singer hasn’t performed in 11 years. The surrounding greenery and accompanying videos made for a captivating and unexpected performance.
To top the set off, actual thunder and lightning surrounded the park, although luckily, the festival avoided the rain.
Overall, the show was a fantastic way to end the festival, and despite the lack of obvious crowd-pleasers, the audience stood in awe of the spectacle and we left feeling we had experienced something truly special.
