The race for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart was as tight as ever this week, but Bad Bunny managed to come out victorious. He soared to the top spot with his latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, beating Taylor Swift’s Lover: Live From Paris by just 1,000  units.

Debí Tirar Más Fotos earned 203,500 equivalent album units during its first full tracking week, including 195,000 SEA units (equaling 264.03 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), 7,500 traditional album sales, and 1,000 TEA units.

Debí Tirar Más Fotos scored the largest streaming week for a Latin album since Bad Bunny’s own record Un Verano Sin Ti debuted with 356.55 million. He also hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with El Último Tour Del Mundo (2020) and Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana (2023).

Bad Bunny managed to top the Billboard 200 chart with Debí Tirar Más Fotos just 1,000 units ahead of Taylor Swift’s Lover: Live From Paris, which hit No. 2 with 202,500 equivalent album units earned.

Debí Tirar Más Fotos hit the shelves on January 5, and its release was preceded by singles “El Clúb”, “Pitorro de Coco”, and “Baile Inolvidable”. Bad Bunny will promote its release with a 30-day Residency at Coliseo de Puerto Rico, which sold out in just four hours.

Coldplay made quite a splash with their new album Moon Music, and they’re getting credit where credit is due. The band’s latest record debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with their largest week in almost a decade, becoming their fifth album to hit No. 1 in the US.

Moon Music debuted at the top spot with 120,000 units, including 106,000 in album sales, plus 13,000 SEA units (equaling 16.71 million on-demand official streams), and 1,000 TEA units. This marks the band’s largest week on the Billboard 200 chart since 2015 when they earned 210,000 units with A Head Full of Dreams.

They also topped the chart with Ghost Stories (2014), Mylo Xyloto (2011), Viva La Vida (2008), and X&Y (2005). Despite scoring one of their largest weeks on the Billboard 200, A Head Full of Dreams never topped the chart and it actually debuted at No. 2 behind Adele’s 25.

Moon Music hit the shelves on October 4, and it produced singles “Feels Like I’m Falling in Love”, “We Pray”, and “All My Love”. In addition to the original album, Coldplay released two more editions – Full Moon Edition featuring ten bonus songs and Tour Edition featuring ten bonus tracks recorded during the Music of the Spheres World Tour, which became the second-highest-grossing tour of all time.

Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department briefly left the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, but its reign is far from over. It returned to the top spot for its 13th non-consecutive week, extending its run as the longest-leading No. 1 album of Swift’s career.

The lack of competition helped Tortured Poets climb to the top during its latest week on the chart, with 71,000 equivalent album units earned. This is the smallest weekly sum for a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart since Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time led the way back in March with 68,000 units.

Tortured Poets also happens to be the first album to spend at least 13 weeks at No. 1 since One Thing at a Time, which dominated the Billboard 200 chart for 19 non-consecutive weeks. It’s also the first album by a female artist to spend at least 13 weeks on top since Adele’s 21 earned 24 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2011-12.

The Tortured Poets Department is the longest-leading chart-topper in Swift’s career, and it made history as the first album by a female artist to spend its first 12 weeks atop the Billboard 200. It also helped Swift extend her record for most weeks at No. 1 for a soloist to 82, while the all-time record is held by The Beatles with 132 weeks.

After 12 consecutive weeks at No. 1, the reign of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is over, and another leader has emerged. Eminem dethroned Swift atop the Billboard 200 chart with his latest album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

The Death of Slim Shady hit No. 1 with 281,000 units, including 164,500 SEA units (equaling 220.08 million on-demand official streams), 114,000 in album sales (all from digital downloads since the album wasn’t released in physical formats), and 2,500 TEA units.

This is the biggest sales week in 2024 for a rap album, and it marks Eminem’s 11th album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. He ties Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and Kanye West for the fifth-most No. 1s on the Billboard 200, behind The Beatles with 19, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift with 14 each, and Drake with 13.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) is the first new album to occupy the No. 1 spot since the release of Swift’s Tortured Poets. This album spent 12 consecutive weeks at No. 1, setting several major records in its wake, but it slipped to the No. 4 spot this week. In addition to Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady, ENHYPEN’s Romance: Untold and Zach Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene also made it to the top three on the Billboard 200 chart.

It’s been over two months since Taylor Swift dropped her latest studio album The Tortured Poets Department, but its chart domination is far from over. Her latest LP just tallied its tenth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 chart, setting several major milestones in the process.

Due to the lack of strong competition on the Billboard 200 chart this week, Tortured Poets returned to No. with 115,000 equivalent album units earned. It defeated Gracie Abrams’ sophomore album The Secret of Us to rise to the top for its tenth consecutive week.

Tortured Poets is Swift’s third album to spend at least 10 weeks at No. 1, joining 1989 and Fearless. This makes her only the fifth act in the history of the Billboard 200 chart to spend at least 10 weeks at No. 1 with three separate albums. She joins in the ranks of Whitney Houston, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, and The Kingston Trio, making history as the first artist to achieve this feat this century.

The Tortured Poets Department hit the shelves on April 19, and it was accompanied by a companion album The Anthology. Its longevity on the chart can largely be credited to Swift’s decision to release several variants of the album featuring limited-edition bonus-track versions of its song.

Charli XCX broke the internet with her debut album Brat, and she’s getting credits where credit is due. It became her highest-charting album on the Billboard 200 chart during its debut week, after hitting No. 3.

Brat entered the chart with 82,000 equivalent album units earned, including 45,000 in album sales, 37,000 SEA units (equaling 46.72 million on-demand official streams of its deluxe edition’s 18 songs), and TEA units in the range of 1,000.

This is both the largest sales week and streaming week of the singer’s career, in addition to being her largest week on the Billboard 200 chart overall. Brat is her second album to enter the top ten in the US, following the success of her previous album Crash at No. 7.

Charli XCX’s latest album also found success in the UK, where it hit No. 2 with the biggest opening week of her career. It also landed No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and Official Record Store Chart in this country due to the success of its physical formats.

The first week’s numbers for Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft are finally in, and she managed to set a few personal records along the way. Despite debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, Eilish’s third studio album managed to score the largest opening week of her career.

Hit Me Hard and Soft debuted at No. 2 behind Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, with 339,000 equivalent album units. Album sales comprise 191,000, including 90,000 in vinyl sales alone, while SEA units comprise 166,500 (equaling 193.93 million on-demand official streams), and TEA units comprise 1,500.

This marks the largest opening week of Eilish’s career, both in terms of sales and overall equivalent album units. Her streaming numbers are also pretty impressive, considering that Hit Me Hard and Soft features just ten songs, including the lead single “Lunch”.

Despite failing to debut at No. 1 in the US, Hit Me Hard and Soft reached the top of the charts in several other countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, and Spain. It also hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart with 67,100 album equivalent units, which marks the second-biggest opening week for any album in the UK this year, and the biggest opening week of Eilish’s career.

Dua Lipa made quite a splash with Radical Optimism, and she’s reaping the fruits of her labor. Her third studio album debuted at No. 1 in the UK with the largest opening week of her career, in addition to hitting No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Radical Optimism was released on May 3, and Lipa described it as an album about “the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm.” She dropped three singles “Houdini”, “Training Season”, and “Illusion” ahead of its release, and she’s planning to promote it with The Radical Optimism Tour, set to kick off this summer.

Radical Optimism earned 46,300 chart units during its debut week on the Official Albums Chart in the UK, which marks the largest week by a British act this year. It also earned the most chart units for any album by a British female artist since Adele’s 30 in 2021.

Lipa failed to replicate this success in the US but did pretty great overall. Radical Optimism debuted at No. 2 behind Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, with 83,000 equivalent album units. This makes it Lipa’s highest-charting album in the US, and it scored the largest week of the singer’s career, surpassing its predecessor Future Nostalgia.

The Tortured Poets Department debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with the largest streaming week in history, while its songs topped 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Tortured Poets Department easily debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with 2.61 million album equivalent units. Album sales comprise 1.914 million, including record-breaking 859,000 vinyl copies, while SEA units comprise 683,000 and TEA units comprise 14,000.

This makes Tortured Poets the second-biggest-selling album on the Billboard 200 chart, behind Adele’s 25, which earned 3.482 million units in 2015. It also scored the largest streaming week for an album, after generating 891.37 million official streams across 31 songs featured on the album’s standard edition and deluxe edition The Anthology.

Swift also made history on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where she claimed the top 14 positions with her songs from Tortured Poets. Her Post Malone collaboration “Fortnight” debuted atop the chart, helping her tie Ariana Grande’s record for most No. 1 debuts among female artists. She also made history as the first woman with over 50 songs in the top ten, with 59.

Cowboy Carter hit No. 1 with 407,000 equivalent album units during its debut week. It earned Beyoncé the largest streaming week of her career, and SEA units comprise 232,000 of the album’s total units, equaling 300.41 million official streams.

Brat was released on June 7 via Atlantic Records, while its deluxe edition featuring three more songs dropped just three days later. Charli XCX promoted its release with the lead single “Von Dutch” and a star-studded music video for “360”.

We can count on Taylor Swift to shatter records every time she drops a new album, and she took things to a whole new level with her latest LP.
