Avril Lavigne is no stranger to epic live performances and her next concert tour is shaping up to be the best one yet. The Canadian hitmaker will embark on the Greatest Hits Tour this spring and summer alongside pop-punk bands All Time Low and Simple Plan.

Lavigne’s North American Greatest Hits Tour is set to cover the biggest hits from her entire discography, spanning over two decades. She dropped seven studio albums during that time, including the chart-toppers Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing, and gave us hit songs “Complicated”, “Sk8er Boi”, “My Happy Ending”, “Girlfriend”, and “When You’re Gone”.

Lavigne will perform her “biggest songs to date” according to the tour’s official press release, and she won’t do it all alone. Simple Plan will also join her, after touring by her side during her very first tour, along with All Time Low, who’ve been friends of Lavigne’s for a while now and discussed the possibility of touring together for years before finally making it happen.

Royal & The Serpent and Girlfriends are also set to serve as Lavigne’s opening acts during her upcoming North American tour, set to kick off on May 22 in Vancouver, Canada. She’ll perform everywhere from Las Vegas and Nashville to Toronto and Chicago before the tour concludes in Edmonton, Canada on September 16.

Miranda Lambert and Avril Lavigne come from completely different genres, but that didn’t stop them from setting the CMA Fest stage on fire. The duo performed an electrifying cover of Lavigne’s smash hit”Sk8ter Boi” during Lambert’s set at the popular country festival.

Lambert’s performance at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium was full of surprises, and the biggest shocker came when she brought Lavigne up on stage. She addressed the audience by saying, “I’m out here to make more bada– moments happen right now. Will y’all welcome my new bestie, Ms. Avril Lavigne to the stage?”, before the Canadian singer hit the stage.

The duo performed two songs by each other’s side: Lambert’s country rock single “Kerosene” and Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi”. The audience welcomed the transition between the two songs with cheers and sang along to one of Lavigne’s career-defining hits.

Lambert’s concert features several more surprise guests, including Elle King, who joined her to perform their hit duet “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” and Leon Bridges, who recently collaborated with Lambert on the new song “If You Were Mine”.

Lambert’s last studio album Palomino came out last year, and she’s been pretty busy since its release. Back in March, the country legend announced she was parting ways with her label Sony Music Nashville after almost two decades and she’s been busy performing and working on new music in the meantime.

Avril Lavigne is dropping the deluxe edition of her latest album Love Sux later this month and she found a perfect way to promote it. She joined forces with Yungblud for the new single “I’m a Mess” and dropped an amazing music video that proves they’re a match made in heaven.

The self-reflective video was directed by P Tracy and filmed in both London and Los Angeles. The two singers are shown wandering the streets on their own before coming together to perform the explosive final chorus in a goth-looking room with red walls and curtains.

According to Lavigne, this song is inspired by the feeling of being away from people they love—something both she and Yungblud can strongly relate to.

“We both tour and travel so much with our music careers. We def know what it’s like to miss our friends/fam bf/gf or whatever. The song is about being apart and missing someone,” she wrote on Twitter.

She also reflected on her time working with Yungblud and described him as “very funny and very talented”, adding they had “so much stupid fun” working on this track.

The deluxe edition of Love Sux will hit the shelves on November 25, and “I’m a Mess” succeeds two singles from the original album—”Bite Me”, and “Love It When You Hate Me”.

Avril Lavigne’s Toronto show on October 7th was one for the books. The 35-year-od Canadian born singer-songwriter gave her local fans some very memorable moments that were spread thick throughout her 75-minute set.

To begin with, this was Lavigne’s first live show in her native Canada in over 5 years, following a prolonged break from playing live. The singer was diagnosed with Lyme Disease back in 2014, an illness that is very hard to treat and can take years to recover from.

One special moment in the show was recorded when a surprise guest, Michael Clifford of the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer joined her on stage to play “Sk8er Boi,” the beloved second single of her 2002 debut, Let Go.

But possibly the highlight of the evening was when Lavigne welcomed on stage her cousin Bernie who came escorted with a young woman. Bernie then proceeded to kneel before his companion with a ring in hand. Although the proposal itself was not captured on the amplifying system, she nodded and rushed to hug her chosen one.

“She said yes,” Avril announced with her arm in the air. “Welcome to the family,” she added and threw in a hug.

Truly a night to remember!

Avril Lavigne was one of the most popular pop-rock artists of the 2000s and served as inspiration for many young singers who followed in her footsteps. One of them just happens to be Billie Eilish – and it seems like the admiration between them is mutual.

The Bad Guy singer repeatedly cited Lavigne as one of her biggest inspirations, who eventually became aware of this high praise and discussed it during a recent interview with Billboard.

“It’s an honor any time – especially someone as talented and cool and creative as Billie – mentions that I’ve had an impact on their music career…. She’s an artist who is very much herself, and also extremely talented – and that’s why it’s working for her,” said Avril Lavigne.

The Pop Punk Queen also mentioned that she feels like there’s a lot that Eilish and herself have in common – they are both authentic, true to themselves and capable of standing their own ground. They both also managed to find enormous success with their debut albums, and Lavigne’s 2002 record Let Go is still one of the bestselling albums of the 21st century.

Avril Lavigne made an epic comeback with new album Head Above Water, and she’s ready to embrace her gothic side. The music video for her latest single “I Fell in Love with the Devil” is here and it’s as creepy as it gets.

Lavigne’s new single explores a dark story about toxic love, and the haunting video perfectly channels this harrowing tale. The video shows the singer driving a hearse that’s carrying her own coffin, and it ends with Lavigne playing the piano adorned with branches in the middle of the woods.

The video for “I Fell in Love with the Devil” was directed by Elliott Lester, and it sees the Canadian superstar rocking a series of gorgeous gowns and equally stunning jewels while moving from one dramatic landscape to another.

Avril Lavigne released her comeback album Head Above Water on February 15th, and promoted it with singles “Head Above Water”, “Tell Me It’s Over” and Nicki Minaj collaboration “Dumb Blonde”. She’ll support the album with her first concert tour in nearly five years, set to kick off on September 14th in Seattle.

Avril Lavigne is back with her first album since forever. Last time we saw her, she was a skater girl with heavy black eyeliner and pink and green hair extensions. While some people might look back at Avril Lavigne’s 2000s style and cringe, this is not the case for us. We look back at those pop-punk days with a sense of nostalgia, fondly remembering the days we thought that clip-in green hair extensions was the coolest thing to have ever existed.

Now, our pre-teen icon is back with a new album and this time around, she is a real woman. Long gone are her tween days, she is a 34-year-old singer who has been through some things and isn’t afraid to admit it.

The album’s opener and titular track opens up about her struggle with Lyme disease which left her bed-ridden for days on age. Here we are 100% rooting for her and we are waiting for the album to break into its full swing. The track is powerful, heartfelt and gives us the queen of pop-punk like we have never seen her before. Unfortunately, this is where the album peaks.

The subsequent track “Birdie” is emotional but cute as is “I Fell In Love With The Devil.” By her collaboration with Nicki Minaj in “Dumb Blonde”, it’s like Avril Lavigne has had a personality change. The punky green and pink haired chick that we loved is shouting out here to everyone that’s ever pre-judged her. You can really hear the consistency between the Avril Lavigne we fell in love with growing up and the new and arguably more talented and vocally improved women singing on this record.

After “Dumb Blonde”, there aren’t any stand-out tracks. “Crush” and “Souvenir” are nothing special and yet we so desperately want to like it so we kind of do. “Goddess” and “Bigger Wow” on the other hand are actively bad. The punky Lavigne is gone and in her place is music which sounds like songs that One Direction rejected. Things pick up ever slightly in ‘Love Me Insane’ but ultimately the second half of the album actively lets down the first.

And so, with heavy hearts we have to accept that Avril Lavigne’s comeback album is little above average. Had she stuck with the tone and creativity of the first half of the album, we would be much more inclined to rate it higher. Unfortunately, the poppy and empty second half actually ruins the first half of the record. It sounds so happy-go-lucky it almost makes us doubt the sincerity of the beginning tracks, even though we know that when writing ‘Head Above Water’, Lavigne was putting her heart and soul into it.

2.5/5

2.5/5
