Rapper J. Cole will take the stage to perform in his hometown of Charlotte during this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend on February 17th. He will be joined by fellow rapper Meek Mill while Carly Rae Jepsen and Anthony Hamilton will sing the Canadian and the US National Anthem respectively.

This year’s NBA All-Star Game will take place at the Spectrum Center, the home arena of NBA team Charlotte Hornets. J. Cole first performed at the event in 2012 in a year he also took part in the Celebrity Game. Last year, the performances were done by rap group Migos and N.E.R.D.

Apart from performing at his hometown, J. Cole is having one of the best years in his career. He has two Grammy nominations this year and recently released a new single, “Middle Child,” on January 23rd. He has seven Grammy nominations in total and has had five No.1 albums in Billboard’s Top 200 charts.

Meek Mill will precede Cole, performing as the All-Star team enters the stage. He has two albums that topped Billboard 200. For the anthem singers, the NBA found a local singer, 48-year-old R &B singer Anthony Hamilton. He has had 17 Grammy nominations in total. Carly Rae Jepsen, on the other hand, became famous after her hit single “Call me Maybe went Viral in 2012.

Legendary So So Def record label is going on tour to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The tour was announced by label founder and rap magnate Jermaine Dupri.

The So So Def 25th anniversary tour will include 11 U.S. cities and will kick off on October 14th with a show in Washington. The tour will also include a date in Dupri’s hometown of Atlanta before wrapping up on November 2nd in Los Angeles.

Besides Jermaine Dupri, the tour will feature performances by Anthony Hamilton, Bone Crusher, Youngbloodz, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, Dem Franchize Boyz, and J-Kwon.

“This is perfect timing,” said Dupri in the announcement. “This is the 25th anniversary of a black-owned record company that put out multiple artists and enough artists to do our own tour. We’re blessed basically.”

Established in 1993, So So Def is credited for the rise in prominence of Southern hip-hop in the 1990s. The record label managed many successful acts including hip-hop duo Kris Kross, R&B vocal quartet Xscape and teen star rapper Bow Wow. The list of current artists managed by So So Def includes Da Brat, J-Kwon, Jagged Edge and Mani.

Jermaine Dupri recently received acclaim for his solo work as well, being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He produced and worked with numerous music stars including Mariah Carey, Usher, Jay-Z, and Nelly among others. His collaboration with Carey also got him a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song, since he was one of the writers of her hit song “We Belong Together.”
