]]>No album this week created more commotion than Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets and its companion piece The Anthology. She’s given us 16 new songs on the standard edition and 31 in total, but “So Long, London” is definitely her strongest new release.
This Friday was pretty slow for new releases because most artists wanted to avoid competing with Swift. That didn’t stop Pearl Jam from sharing their long-awaited album Dark Matter, which produced several amazing songs, including “Wreckage”.
The lack of major releases helped our favorite indie and international artists shine, and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week. Hozier’s “Why Would You Be Loved” is definitely worth listening to on repeat, and so are the latest singles by Rachel Chinouriri, Debbii Dawson, Kings of Leon, Kate Nash, and more.

]]>Bangalter recounted the story in a recent interview with French media outlet Brut. Daft Punk had a show in London, and Bangalter decided to stretch his legs and buy a sandwich outside the venue. Since Daft Punk was notorious for hiding their identity, no one recognized him.
At one point, Bangalter was approached by a scalper who offered to sell him a ticket for the show. Bangalter was so amused with the conversation that he ended up actually buying a ticket and used it to get back to the venue.
“I thought it would be funny, so I bought the ticket, went to the venue, and waited,” Bangalter shared.
Since Daft Punk, which also consisted of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, announced their breakup, Bangalter was engaged in a number of solo projects. He composed a score for ballet Mythologies, worked on the art project Chiroptera, and scored Quentin Dupieux’s comedy Daaaaaalí! The 49-year-old musician is also set to contribute to Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür’s upcoming solo album.

Hjelt and Jawo experimented with many different sounds while working on this album. They didn’t set any rules for themselves and only focused on the vision that they wanted to share with their fans.
“We put all of our problems and stress into what we’re doing. We love disguising our heartbreaks and sadness in uplifting songs you can dance to. It was a very emotional process, and it’s all in the music,” said the duo in a statement.

]]>This track was recorded at the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles in 2012, and it captures “intimate moments of creation” between Daft Punk and their longtime collaborator Todd Edwards.
“The lyrics written that day were from the perspective of the collaborators’ future selves speculating how they would feel in the future as if remembering this specific creative moment thereby creating a narrative of future nostalgia,” reads the duo’s official statement.
“The Writing of Fragments of Time” was released as the first single from the anniversary reissue of Random Access Memories. This album will feature 35 minutes of bonus material, including unreleased demos and outtakes.
