After a lot of anticipation, Taylor Swift finally dropped her album The Tortured Poets Department this Friday, but this wasn’t the only new release that caught our eye. Check out our list of the best new songs of the week to discover new music by Pearl Jam, Hozier, and Kings of Lion.

No album this week created more commotion than Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets and its companion piece The Anthology. She’s given us 16 new songs on the standard edition and 31 in total, but “So Long, London” is definitely her strongest new release.

This Friday was pretty slow for new releases because most artists wanted to avoid competing with Swift. That didn’t stop Pearl Jam from sharing their long-awaited album Dark Matter, which produced several amazing songs, including “Wreckage”.

The lack of major releases helped our favorite indie and international artists shine, and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week. Hozier’s “Why Would You Be Loved” is definitely worth listening to on repeat, and so are the latest singles by Rachel Chinouriri, Debbii Dawson, Kings of Leon, Kate Nash, and more.

Taylor Swift – “So Long, London”

Hozier – “Why Would You Be Loved”

Pearl Jam – “Wreckage”

Debbii Dawson – “Happy World”

Rachel Chinouriri – “It Is What It Is”

Sia – “Fame Won’t Love You” (feat. Paris Hilton)

Kings Of Leon – “Nothing To Do”

Discovering new music is never going out of style, and this week brought countless amazing songs our way. From SZA and Bleachers to MGMT and Linkin Park, a diverse range of artists made it to our list of the best songs of the week with their epic new tracks.

SZA hasn’t dropped any new solo singles since sharing her acclaimed album SOS with the world, but that finally changed this week. She teased the release of its follow-up LANA with a new song “Saturn”, an escapist anthem about the lure of the unknown.

This week was pretty slow for new album releases, but some of our favorite indie artists still surprised us with new LPs. MGMT teased Loss of Life with “Dancing in Babylon” ft. Christine and the Queens, while Allie X promote her new album Girl with no Face with “Weird World”.

It was a great week for alternative and rock music in general, and we’ve seen several beloved bands share new music with the world. Kings of Leon dropped “Mustang”, Bleachers teased their next album with “Me Before You”, while Linkin Park paid homage to their late vocalist Chester Bennington by sharing the unreleased track “Friendly Fire”.

Norah Jones, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kasabian, and Lil Durk also made it to our list, so grab your headphones and get ready to discover their new songs!

SZA – “Saturn”

Bleachers – “Me Before You”

Kings Of Leon – “Mustang”

Musicians are usually not too fond of scalpers. They inflate the prices of their shows and prevent true fans from attending. However, that didn’t stop Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter from buying a ticket from a scalper for his own show a while back.

Bangalter recounted the story in a recent interview with French media outlet Brut. Daft Punk had a show in London, and Bangalter decided to stretch his legs and buy a sandwich outside the venue. Since Daft Punk was notorious for hiding their identity, no one recognized him.

At one point, Bangalter was approached by a scalper who offered to sell him a ticket for the show. Bangalter was so amused with the conversation that he ended up actually buying a ticket and used it to get back to the venue.

“I thought it would be funny, so I bought the ticket, went to the venue, and waited,” Bangalter shared.

Since Daft Punk, which also consisted of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, announced their breakup, Bangalter was engaged in a number of solo projects. He composed a score for ballet Mythologies, worked on the art project Chiroptera, and scored Quentin Dupieux’s comedy Daaaaaalí!  The 49-year-old musician is also set to contribute to Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür’s upcoming solo album.

2023 is slowly coming to an end, but our favorite artists are showing no signs of slowing down. This week marked the release of several epic new songs, starting with Beyoncé’s “My House”, but new music by Tyla, Dove Cameron, and Kenya Grace also made it to our list.

If we had to pick the most talked-about track to hit the shelves this week, Beyoncé’s “My House” definitely takes the cake! Released in post-credits of her concert film Renaissance, this hip-hop-infused banger is a great reminder of her versatility as an artist.

This week has also been great for the young rising female stars, starting with the “Water” singer Tyla. She decided to capitalize on the momentum and announced her debut album by dropping several brand-new songs this week, including “Truth or Dare”.

Dove Cameron dropped a new album Alchemical: Volume 1 on Friday and marked the occasion with the release of a new single “White Glove”. The British singer Kenya Grace, who got her big break with the UK chart-topper “Strangers”, gave us another potential viral hit with her new song “Paris”.

Our list of the best new songs of the week also includes new music by MGMT, P!nk, and Empress Of, and it’s up to you to decide which one is the best.

Beyoncé: “My House”

Tyla: “Truth or Dare”

Dove Cameron: “White Glove”

MGMT: “Bubblegum Dog”

Kenya Grace: “Paris”

Artemas: “Just Want U To Feel Something”

Empress Of: “Femenine”

P!NK: “All Out Of Fight”

It’s been ten years since the Swedish EDM duo Icona Pop dropped their last album, and they’re finally ready for a comeback. Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo announced the release of Club Romantech, their first studio album in almost a decade.

Icona Pop’s third studio album will hit the shelves on September 1, and it will be released through Swedish independent record label TEN Music Group and Ultra. It will feature collaborations with Joel Corry, Sofi Tukker, Yaeger, Ultra Nate, and Galantis and several songs that the duo released since 2020.

“Feels in My Body”, “Spa”, “Off of My Mind”, “You’re Free”, “I Want You”, “Faster”, and “S-it We Do for Love” will be some of the songs featured on this record, along with Icona Pop’s latest single “Where Do We Go from Here”.

Hjelt and Jawo experimented with many different sounds while working on this album. They didn’t set any rules for themselves and only focused on the vision that they wanted to share with their fans.

“We put all of our problems and stress into what we’re doing. We love disguising our heartbreaks and sadness in uplifting songs you can dance to. It was a very emotional process, and it’s all in the music,” said the duo in a statement.

Despite announcing their split in 2021, Daft Punk still have a few tricks up their sleeves. The 10th-anniversary edition of their last album Random Access Memories is on the way, and they teased its release by dropping a bonus track “The Writing of Fragments of Time”.

This track was recorded at the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles in 2012, and it captures “intimate moments of creation” between Daft Punk and their longtime collaborator Todd Edwards.

“The lyrics written that day were from the perspective of the collaborators’ future selves speculating how they would feel in the future as if remembering this specific creative moment thereby creating a narrative of future nostalgia,” reads the duo’s official statement.

“The Writing of Fragments of Time” was released as the first single from the anniversary reissue of Random Access Memories. This album will feature 35 minutes of bonus material, including unreleased demos and outtakes.

Random Access Memories was originally released in 2013, and it produced hit singles “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance” featuring Pharrell Williams, and collaborations with Giorgio Moroder, Panda Bear, Julian Casablancas, and Todd Edwards. Its 10th-anniversary edition will hit the shelves on May 12, and it’s the duo’s first release since their split in 2021.

The rest of our list features an interesting mix of genres, ranging from hip-hop and EDM to pop and alternative rock. Drake’s collaboration with SZA, “Slime You Out”, is one of the week’s buzziest new releases, but our list also includes new music from Doja Cat, Tate McRae, Sia, Sufjan Stevens, and All Time Low.
