The post Karol G Dominates the 2024 Latin American Music Awards with Six Trophies appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Karol G faced tough competition in Bad Bunny, Shakira, Rauw Alejandro, and the night’s most-nominated artists Feid and Peso Pluma in the race for the artists of the year, but managed to defeat them all and take the trophy home.
To make the whole thing even more impressive, this wasn’t the only major award she collected. Mañana Será Bonito won her the coveted award for the album of the year, while her viral hit “TQG” ft. Shakira was named the song of the year, beating Shakira’s own “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”.
Karol G also won trophies for global Latin artist of the year, favorite urban artist, and favorite urban album with Mañana Será Bonito. Feid was also one of the major winners of the night with six awards, including collaboration of the year for “Yandel 150” ft. Yandel.
The 2024 Latin American Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on April 25, with Thalía, Alejandra Espinoza, Becky G, and Carlos Ponce serving as co-hosts.

]]>“Star” was released as a double-sided single alongside “Heaven” back in August last year, and its music video is finally here. The atmospheric visual sees Mitski paddling a boat across a foggy lake in the middle of the night.
This music video reunited Mitski with her frequent collaborator Maegan Houang, who wanted this visual to offer a contrast to their previous narrative/concept-driven videos.
“I wanted this video to encapsulate the impressionistic circularity we all experience. Our lives oscillate between light and dark repeating itself in an endless cycle where nothing is permanent. The best moments are fleeting, but so are the bad,” said Houang in a statement.
“Star” was released as one of the songs from Mitski’s seventh studio album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, which came out last September. It also produced singles “Bug Like an Angel” and “My Love Mine All Mine”, and she’s promoting with a tour across Europe this spring.

]]>The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors “artists who have created music whose originality, impact, and influence has changed the course of rock and roll”, and their performer category includes eight honorees this time around.
Cher was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time this year, after publicly calling out the organization for never taking her into consideration. Just a few months ago, she told Kelly Clarkson, “I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars.”
Cher is yet to publicly address her induction, but Mary J. Blige and Ozzy Osbourne are among the honorees who expressed gratitude to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They’ll be inducted alongside Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, and A Tribe Called Quest.
The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on October 19, and it will air live on Disney+.

]]>Sia and Paris Hilton previously joined forces for the cover of “Stars Are Blind” during Miley Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve special, and they’ve been plotting their next collaboration ever since. Hilton even revealed that Sia would be producing her second studio album, but it turns out this won’t be their first creative partnership.
Hilton just hopped on Sia’s latest single “Fame Won’t Love You”, the song that captures the way that motherhood changed both of their relationships with fame. The collaboration came pretty naturally for Hilton, who felt no tension being in the studio with Sia.
“She brought something out of me that nobody ever has. Because I never ever really felt comfortable with people in the studio… With her, I just feel so comfortable so I really sang in ways that I never knew were possible,” Hilton told Billboard.
“Fame Won’t Love You” was released as the fifth single from Sia’s upcoming album Reasonable Woman, set to hit the shelves on May 3.

]]>“Like That” attracted 40 million streams, 14 million radio airplay audience impressions, and sold 3,000 units during its latest week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This song became Future and Lamar’s third No. 1 single and Metro Boomin’s first as a billed recording artist when it initially debuted atop the chart.
“Like That” was released as one of the songs from Future and Metro Boomin’s collaborative album We Don’t Trust You, which hit the shelves on March 26. Its follow-up We Still Don’t Trust You was released in less than a month, on April 12, and it’s projected to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, just like its predecessor.
It was also a huge week for Hozier’s “Too Sweet”, which climbed to No. 2 to match his previous peak on the Hot 100 chart with his breakout hit “Take Me To Church”. J. Cole’s “7 Minute Drill” was the highest debut of the week at No. 6 after being released as a part of his new mixtape Might Delete Later.

]]>Directed by Tanu Muino, Lipa’s new visual was shot at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc in Barcelona, and it might just be her most lavish music video yet. “I really like the way you’re movin’ / Yeah, I just wanna dance with the illusion” she sings in the song’s bridge, while dancing her heart out with a group of synchronized swimmers and enjoying the panoramic views of Barcelona.
Lipa co-wrote this song with Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kevin Parker, and she credits it for “breaking the ice” and inspiring it the entire record.
“It’s about knowing what you’re getting yourself into but staying for the hell of it. The joke’s on them, it’s the fun of playing someone at their own game because ultimately you won’t fall for an illusion,” said Lipa in a statement.
“Illusion” was released as the third single from her new album Radical Optimism, scheduled to hit the shelves on May 3.

]]>Rodrigo embarked on the Guts World Tour back in February and performed a series of concerts across North America. The tour included four dates at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Noah Kahan hit the stage by Rodrigo’s side during one of the concerts.
The duo delivered an acoustic guitar version of Kahan’s breakout hit “Stick Season”, which became a viral hit in recent months and hit No. 1 in the UK. Kahan later took to social media to thank Rodrigo for inviting him to join her on stage, and described her as “a special talent”.
This isn’t the first time Rodrigo and Kahan expressed their admiration for each other. She previously performed a cover of “Stick Season” on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and Kahan returned the favor by delivering an emotional cover of her song “Lacy” during his appearance on the same show.
Two covers were released on a seven-inch colored vinyl as a Record Store Day special, and Rodrigo said she’s hoping for a collaboration with Kahan because she thinks he’s “very inspiring”.

]]>According to the frontman Dave Bayley, both the album and its lead singles explore those formative moments of love and care that can live on forever, if that’s how we choose to see them.
“It’s about a moment in time, be it a split second or a year or whatever, having the capacity to be enormously formative and life-changing. Even if it is over. Or if it doesn’t go as planned. Or if it dies too soon. It is still f***ing beautiful,” said Bayley in a statement.
I Love You So F***ing Much will be released on July 19 via Polydor and it’s already available for pre-order. “Creatures in Heaven” will be one of ten songs featured on this album, along with “Show Pony”, “Wonderful Nothing”, and “Lost in the Ocean”.
This album will mark a follow-up to Glass Animals’ Dreamland from 2020, which propelled them to global stardom with the viral hit “Heat Weaves”. This song hit No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 5 in their home country of the UK.

]]>The British singer discussed her next era in a recent cover story for Vogue Singapore and revealed what her new album Brat has in store. She said that the conversations with her friends fueled a fun, gossipy narrative that permeates the album.
“Lyrically, this is quite a different record for me. I’ve written the songs almost in the way I would write texts to my friends or based on things I would say to them on FaceTime. We talk a lot about pop culture and music and it’s been really fun to gossip about the songs,” said Charli XCX.
She also discussed the polarizing album cover of Brat, which features the low-res image of the word “brat” on a lime-green background. The two-time Grammy nominee said she wanted to go with “an offensive, off-trend shade of green” in an attempt to trigger the idea of something being wrong and challenging our expectations of pop culture.
Brat will be released later this summer and Charli XCX promoted it with the lead single “Von Dutch”.

]]>The post Olivia Rodrigo & Noah Kahan Cover “Stick Season” During “Guts World Tour” appeared first on Hot Pop Today.

]]>The post Glass Animals Announce New Album “I Love You So F***ing Much” appeared first on Hot Pop Today.

]]>The post Charli XCX Opens Up About Her New Album “Brat” appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
