]]>But after more than a decade of holding out, the American rockers finally debuted some new songs during their set at Jacksonville’s Welcome to Rockville festival.
During the show, Tool performed two of their new tracks, “Descending” and “Invincible.” These two songs are expected to be a part of the band’s new studio album, which will be their first since 2006’s 10,000 Days.

There have been rumors about Tool’s new album for the past several years, but the band only confirmed it in late 2017. Since then, there have been several contradictory reports about its progress and release date before frontman Maynard James Keenan went on Twitter in September 2018 and said the album is expected to come out between May and July.
“Midway through mixing,” Keenan wrote on Twitter. “Most likely be a few recalls. Then some arguing. Then Mastering, Artwork, Video, Special Packaging, etc. Best Ballpark Guess- Release date somewhere between Mid May and Mid July. More focused updates to follow as we progress.”

]]>Tool will start the tour in Jacksonville on May 5th at Welcome To Rockville and will visit Hampton, St. Louis and Kansas City among other cities before wrapping up the trip in Bridgeview on May 19th at Chicago Open Air Festival.
Following the U.S. tour, the band is set to play live shows in the United Kingdom and Europe in June.
After releasing critically acclaimed 10,000 Days in 2006, Tool has sporadically talked about a new studio album but due to several reasons, the release date was postponed. Then, in September 2018, vocalist Maynard James Keenan confirmed that the band is recording a new LP before announcing in early 2019 that he finished putting down vocals for new songs. Drummer Danny Carey suggested in a recent interview that the record might be out in April, while Keenan said that the summer of this year is
