Deluxe reissue of The Queen Is Dead is set for release on October 20th, and will contain four discs. The first disc will have the original remastered album, while the second disc will have demos, B-Sides and additional takes of the songs. Besides “I Know It’s Over,” fans will also be able to hear “Frankly, Mr. Shankly,” “Cemetry Gates,” and “Bigmouth Strikes Again“ demos, among others. The third disc will have The Smiths Live in Boston performance, while the disc four features the 2017 master in 96kHz / 24-bit PCM stereo.
“You cannot continue to record and simply hope that your audience will approve, or that average critics will approve, or that radio will approve,” Morrissey said in a statement. “You progress only when you wonder if an abnormally scientific genius would approve – and this is the leap the Smiths took with The Queen Is Dead.”
The Queen Is Dead was the band’s third studio album and received universal acclaim upon its release. It was also a commercial hit in the UK, reaching number two spot on the charts. Many call it The Smiths best career album, while NME even as far as listing it as the greatest album of all time.
