]]>This Friday marked the release of numerous new albums, but none of them created more buzz than The Weeknd’s long-awaited record Hurry Up Tomorrow. It’s a collection of 21 brand-new songs, each one amazing in its own right, and we singled out “Cry For Me” as one of the early favorites.
This has also been a pretty epic week for amazing collaborations. We’ve seen many of our favorite indie artists join forces, starting with Sasami and Clairo, whose duet “In Love With A Memory” is the best of both worlds.
James Bay and Jon Batiste partnered up for “Sunshine in the Room”, while Jamie xx and Erykah Badu rocked our world with their unexpected collaboration “F.U.” Indie rock darlings Julien Baker and Torres impressed us with their new duet “Sylvia”.
The rest of our list is equally amazing, and it features brand-new tracks from a wide range of genres, from country to R&B. Stick around to discover new songs by The Lumineers, Cat Burns, Jessie Reyez, Zach Bryan, and Nessa Barrett.

]]>This Friday marked the release of Childish Gambino’s soundtrack album Bando Stone & the New World, and she found a perfect way to promote it. “In the Night” was released as its second single, and the Grammy-winning rapper found the best partners in crime in Jorja Smith and Amaarae.
This is only one of two collaborations to make the cut this week, and we were equally impressed by James Bay’s “Up All Night” featuring The Lumineers and Noah Kahan.
Some of our favorite indie bands also returned with new albums this week. Glass Animals unleashed I Love You So F***ing Much and gave us ten brand-new songs, including “Show Pony”. Highly Suspect dropped As Above, So Below, and “Plastic Boxes” emerged as one of their best new songs.
It’s been a good week for alternative music overall, with Wallows and Paris Paloma also making the cut, but we made sure to also put new songs by Benson Boone, Jade, Khalid, and Alessia Cara in the mix.

]]>The 44-minute film, directed by Kevin Phillips, will see the light of day on September 8th, and band’s vocalist Wesley Shultz admitted he never even imagined they’ll present this project to the world at TIFF.
“This short film is about a member of my family whose battle with addiction has led her to rehab, jail, and ultimately [being] homeless now, for over a year. We were attempting to make a short film with the album serving as our narrator. I never dreamed it would be premiered at one of the top international film festivals in the world,” said Schultz in a statement.
This sounds like the most fitting introduction to their new album III, scheduled to be released on September 13th. The Lumineers previously revealed they’ll break this record down into three chapters, each one focusing on a different main character.

]]>The Lumineers didn’t opt for this name simply because this is their third studio album. III will actually be arranged like a book with three separate chapters consisting of several songs, each one focusing on three complex and equally interesting fictional characters.
The indie folk band already introduced the first song, “Gloria”. The first third of the album will focus on her journey, while the other two will follow another two members of her family – her son Jimmy Sparks and her grandson Junior Sparks.
“It combines specificity with a more general exploration of family, love, loss and pain – and, yes, arranging the songs that way is meant to trick you into consuming the whole thing,” explained band’s frontman Wesley Schultz in an interview with Billboard.

The organizers of this festival never had any trouble attracting A-list performers to Montreal, but this year’s lineup is really putting some of their past ones to shame. The headliners aren’t the only reason to buy a ticket since each of the festival days comes with a long list of impressive names.
Janelle Monáe, J Balvin, Hozier and Tame Impala are also among the artist who received the top billing. Lineup includes wide variety of diverse performers, making sure fans of different genres find something to enjoy.
