After plotting a massive tour in 2019, British legends The Cure are now preparing more great things for their fans. The band’s frontman Robert Smith recently had an interview with SiriusXM and revealed that they are putting finishing touches on their new record, which will be the first one in more than a decade.

“Seeing all these new bands—I’ve listened to some of these bands and met so many of them that it’s kind of inspired me to do something new” said Smith. “So, yes, we’re going in about six weeks time to finish off what will be our first album in more than a decade. It’s very exciting times for us all around.”

You can hear this part of Robert Smith’s interview below.

The Cure released 13 albums so far, but the most recent, 4:13 Dream, came in 2008. They haven’t released any new music since then.

Earlier this year, The Cure announced a celebratory tour in 2019 during which they will visit some of the most notable European music festivals, while also aiming to play in cities and countries they didn’t have a chance to play before. Besides this, next year will be special for the band since they will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of 2019 class of inductees that also has Radiohead, Janet Jackson, Def Leppard and others.
