It’s been over five years since Post Malone and Swae Lee dropped their viral hit “Sunflower”, and this song is still breaking records. The catchy bop from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse received RIAA’s double-diamond certification, becoming the first song in history to do so.

RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier confirmed the news in an official statement, announcing that “Sunflower” is the first-ever double-diamond certified song after attracting 20 million streams and downloads in the U.S. alone.

“Post Malone and Swae Lee have officially raised the bar on what creative partnerships and infectious collaborations have the power to accomplish. Congratulations Post, Swae Lee, and Mercury/Republic Records for making history with the very first 2x Diamond single!” said Glazier in a statement.

Post Malone is no stranger to breaking RIAA’s certification records. Just last year, he made history as the artist with the most diamond singles ever with eighth, including “Sunflower”, plus “White Iverson,” “Congratulations” ft. Quavo, “I Fall Apart,” “Rockstar” ft. 21 Savage, “Psycho” ft. Ty Dolla $ign, “Better Now”, and “Circles”.

“Sunflower” was originally released in October 2018 as a part of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received a nod for the record of the year at the Grammy Awards.

After several slow weeks for new music releases, the world’s leading artists came into December with guns blazing! From Nicki Minaj and Tate McRae to Tems and Griff, our favorite artists have given us musical gold this Friday and made their way to our list of the best songs of the week.

Nicki Minaj’s long-awaited album Pink Friday 2 finally hit the shelves this week, and it was worth the wait! This album has given us countless epic songs, but “Pink Friday Girls”, which samples Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, is definitely one of the standouts.

Tate McRae also knocked it out of the park with her sophomore album “Think Later”. The Canadian singer is living up to the title of the next pop princess, and “Run for the Hills” is one of the best songs that her second studio album has in store.

This week has also been amazing for fans of R&B, with Griff’s “Astronaut”, Tems’s “Not An Angel”, and “Risk It All” by Usher and H.E.R. from The Color Purple making it to our list.

New songs by Alec Benjamin, Green Day, Fletcher, Peso Pluma, and Anitta also made the cut, so stick around to hear them out!

Tate McRae: “Run for the Hills”

Tems: “Not An Angel”

Nicki Minaj: “Pink Friday Girls”

From A-list collaborations to amazing soundtrack bangers, our list of the best songs of the week has it all! Stick around to discover new music from your favorite artists, ranging from Foo Fighters and The Weeknd to Ed Sheeran and Cardi B.

This week marked the release of several new albums, but Foo Fighters’ But Here We Are is the buzziest of them all. The ten-minute track “The Teacher” was unleashed as the album’s fourth single ahead of its release, and it made it to our list of best songs.

This has also been an amazing week for epic collaboration and soundtrack music. Some of the songs on our list hail from hit movies and TV shows, including Ed Sheeran’s “A Beautiful Game” from Ted Lasso, Metro Boomin’s hip-hop infused “Calling” from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Weeknd’s “Popular” from The Idol, and “Watati” by Karol G and Aldo Ranks from Barbie.

Most of these songs are amazing collaborations between our favorite artists, but the list of A-list match-ups doesn’t end there. Latto and Cardi B gave us another show-stopping female-lead hip-hop duet with “Put It On Da Floor Again”, Lana Del Rey and her dad Rob Grant joined forces for “Lost at Sea”, and Nelly Furtado made her highly-anticipated comeback with “Eat Your Man” featuring Dom Dolla.

Rob Grant & Lana Del Rey – “Lost at Sea”

Dom Dolla & Nelly Furtado – “Eat Your Man”

Madonna’s new studio album Madame X is just around the corner, and she recently dropped another music video that got us even more excited about its release.

“Crave” sees her joining forces with another one in a long series of exciting collaborators – chart-topping rapper Swae Lee.

The visually stunning video for their collaboration, directed by Nuno Xico, opens with another monologue delivered by the Queen of Pop’s alter ego Madame X.

“I am waiting for you. I have always been waiting for you. I’m attracted to danger, I crave it. Don’t we all want what we know is not good for us? What we know might break us in the end? And yet, we fly towards it, always wanting the thing we cannot have.”

Madonna and Swae Lee are later shown trading secret love notes and using carrier pigeons to deliver them to each other. The video ends with them finally reuniting and creating a spark reminiscent of Michaelangelo’s “Creation of Adam” after touching hands.

The Queen of Pop’s music is most certainly not planning of leaving the stage – on the contrary, she seems to want to rule for a long, long time.

Madonna has released her new single “Crave”, from her upcoming new album, Madame X.

For this song, Madonna collaborated with Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee and it has been listed as the third song on her new album. Mike Dean, a famous producer who works with Travis Scott, Pusha T., and Kanye West, was also responsible for the creation of this song.

This is the second song from the album that is presented to the audience. The first one was the single “Medellin” for which Madonna collaborated with the Columbian singer Maluma. Before the official release of the album on June 14, two more songs will be put on the air. “Future,” featuring Quavo, and “Dark Ballet” are the chosen songs to spearhead the new album.

Alongside her album, Madonna also announced “The Madame X” tour which should start at BAM in Brooklyn on September 12.

Madonna’s new album Madame X is inspired by Latin music, and if we go by the songs released, it’s going to be a juicy one.

It’s been a month since “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” hit theaters and we still can’t get it out of our head. Same goes for that catchy tune “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee, at least according to Billboard Hot 100 chart.

This song took the no. 1 spot on this list after dethroning Halsey’s “Without Me”, and its slow rise to the top spot really gives us life! There’s just something about “Sunflower” that perfectly captures the spirit of the film it hailed from – and Spring Aspers, head of music and creative affairs at Sony Pictures, seems to agree.

“Post and Swae have delivered a song that’s both heroic and emotional, which is exactly what a Spider-Man story needs. It’s anthemic, but also heartfelt — the perfect soundtrack for Miles to discover the Spider-Man inside himself,” said Aspers.

“Sunflower” is Swae Lee’s first song to snag no. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100. Young rapper described it as his favorite collaboration of the year, which is pretty amazing considering he worked with Camila Cabello, Travis Scott and Ellie Goulding in 2018.

Post Malone dropped a new single titled “Wow” Monday morning, weeks after promising his fans he would release new material “before the year ends.”

The song features an animated Malone rap about his new-found wealth. The video is Christmas-themed but is simplistic to the contrast of most of his music videos. Malone is also laid back, rapping over basic beats and little autotune if any.

In the animated video, Malone shows up at a party with a ton of cash, friends and beer bottles to the shock of patrons. He also raps about his growth in the rap scene saying fans who didn’t appreciate him, in the beginning, are now his avid supporters.

The video comes only days after his collaboration with Swae Lee, “Sunflower,” was released as a music track to the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film.” Malone other material this year came early in April with the release of “Beerbongs & Bentleys.” The album was highly successful, setting new streaming records on Spotify and becoming certified double platinum early in its release.

With the release of the new song, Malone has lined up tour dates in the US and the UK in the coming months.

We had to wait four years for Wiz Khalifa’s new album and finally got Rolling Papers 2 in July 2018. Let’s see how the record contributes to his legacy.

When it comes to Wiz, nothing is strictly black or white; there is always a little bit of gray. Same goes for this absurdly long album with 25 songs, featuring names like Gucci Mane, Snoop Dogg, Swae Lee and Ty Dolla $ign. The record isn’t a masterpiece, nor is it horrible. It is a monotonous Wiz rapping about weed, women, and fame.

That being said, the album still offers a handful of uplifting songs and moments, provided you have the luxury of sifting through 90 minutes of Khalifa Kush.

Thankfully, the production on the album is high end, and we expected nothing less from an elite team of producers including Mike Will Made It, TM88, Young Chop, Sledren and Cardo, I.D. Labs and legendary Easy Mo Bee.

When it comes to beats, the album offers variety needed for each song to be unique. However, there is little difference in content, apart from “B Ok,” where Wiz addresses the death of his sister and his relations with ex-wife Amber Rose.

Other songs that stand out on Rolling Papers 2 are the ones with featured artists. As if featuring makes Wiz try harder and shift up a notch from his mellow style. “Real Rich,” featuring Gucci, is one of the better songs and is simply too catchy to miss. Wiz has a great flow on the track and tunes in nicely with the beat. Unfortunately, it lasts only two minutes which is short for a groundbreaking hit and offers little lyrical content to be a classic. “Penthouse,” with the rap legend Snoop Dogg, is another example of excellent featuring.

Most songs sound effortless in general, with no real meaning and lots of autotune, as if Wiz did this album just because he could. If you view this album as a lyrical masterpiece, you would be wrong. If you see Rolling Papers 2 as a mainstream trap rap album, you would be wrong. If you are a fan of Wiz bangers, you will find some but not nearly as you would’ve liked. That being said, the album is not good or bad and can pass as mediocre. We know Wiz can do better.

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
