From Monday through Thursday, the festival will host the “brightest minds from the culinary world, technology, environmental sustainability, health & wellness, media, and more.”
The music performances are scheduled to take place from Friday through Thursday. The lineup is yet to be revealed, but it is expected that the first headliners will be announced soon.
The 2019’s edition of Something in the Water festival featured an exciting lineup that consisted of Diplo, Pharrell & Friends, Dave Matthews Band, Migos, Janelle Monáe, Masego, SZA, RosalÃa, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Jhené Aiko, Missy Elliott, Pusha-T, Travis Scott, and many more. The event, however, didn’t get off to a great start, as Day 1 of the festival ended up being canceled due to “inclement weather.”

“Allen Iverson. Missy Elliott. Dave Matthews Band. Ella Fitzgerald. Virginia has been home to some of the most gifted artists, athletes, and scientists to ever live. And it makes sense — the people of Virginia are one-of-a-kind: uniquely gritty, bold, and brilliant,” said Pharrell in the statement. “For the first time, we are harnessing that energy, bringing the great minds of our time and the biggest brands in the world to this great place, and letting the inspiration flow and well-deserved oportunities unfold. Virginia needs this right now and the world will see what we Virginians have known all along: there really is Something in the Water.”
Besides the live shows, Something in the Water will also see numerous other different event taking place during the festival including art performances and movie screenings. This will include a screening of Samuel “Blitz” Bazawule’s movie The Burial of Kojo as well as post-screening conversations with this Ghanaian-American hip-hop artist and filmmaker.
