]]>The singer-songwriter has announced that a new version of the companion film to her album of the same name will make its debut July 17 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. Following a month-long theatrical run, the film will debut on streaming services on August 5.
According to a press release, the 41-minute long new version (up from its 33-minute length at release) will include “new scenes and musical arrangements.”
Solange previously said in a statement, “When I was younger I would fear what the people called the Holy Spirit and what it would do to the men and women around me. I never wanted it to catch me, and was terrified on how it might transform me if it did! Much of this film is surrendering to that fear. After a really tough health year and the loss of the body that I once knew, the film is an invitation for that same spirit to manifest through me and the work I want to continue to create.”

]]>Not much is known about this project since Solange obviously wants to surprise her fans when the time comes. We do know that the performance piece will be presented to the world on September 17th in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie.
It’s safe to assume that this project borrowed its title from the final track of Solange’s latest album When I Get Home. It was released on March 1st to rave reviews, but the singer felt really nervous about sharing it with the world.
“I have this fear living in my body about releasing work. I don’t know any artist that doesn’t feel that before they hit the send button. I constantly called it my punk album because it was like, this is my time to shake things up and be loud,” said Solange in a cover story for T Magazine.

]]>Coachella announced the news via their Twitter account and expressed their hope she’ll return to headline in the nearby future.
“Due to major production delays, Solange will unfortunately no longer be performing at this year’s festival. She sends her sincerest apologies and looks forward to performing at Coachella in the future,” read the tweet.
Solange’s fans were super-excited about her performance, especially after hearing her new album When I Get Home. This record was released on March 1 to rave reviews, and it was accompanied by a 33-minute film.
The video was inspired by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey and Solange’s representatives described it as “exploration of origin, asking the question how much of ourselves do we bring with us versus leave behind in our evolution”.
