“This collaboration with legendary artist Sly Stone will deliver an epic and important film in the history of popular music,” added co-executive producer Ron Weisner. “After refusing the spotlight for decades, Sly has finally opened up to share his amazing story on camera about everything: life, love and music.”
Sly Stone was a musical prodigy and started his career when he was seven years old. Still, his major breakthrough came with Sly and the Family Stone, a band who played a crucial role in the emergence of rock, funk, and psychedelia in the 1960s. The group released seven studio albums before disbanding in 1975, after which Stone launched his solo career while occasionally using the Sly and the Family Stone name.
