]]>It is clear that Nine Inch Nails were influenced by The Cure but it was not clear just how much of a personal impact the band had on frontman Reznor. At the ceremony, he praised the band’s uniqueness, darkness and describes the experience of listening to their music and no longer feeling alone.
Reznor said: “Immediately this band struck a chord. The first album I heard was ‘The Head on the Door.’ I hadn’t heard anything like it before. I felt a lot of the darkness that I felt in my head coming back at me through the speakers, and it blew my mind. It was like this music was written just for me. I struggled my whole life feeling that I don’t fit in or belong anywhere — kind of like right now. Hearing this, suddenly I felt connected, no longer quite so alone.”

]]>“Now we can stop holding our breath,” – said Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. “How wonderful to be in the same club as the Rolling Stones and the Beatles and the Who and Queen … It’s a nice badge of honor.”
They will also be joined by American pop icon Janet Jackson, singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks and two English rock bands, Roxy Music and the Zombies.
“Thank you Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” – said Jackson when she heard the news. “I am truly honored and I am happy to be in there with my brothers.”
“I have a lot to say about this, but I will save those words for later.” – said Nicks, who was previously inducted as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998. “For now I will just say, I have been in a band since 1968. To be recognized for my solo work makes me take a deep breath and smile. It’s a glorious feeling.”
The ceremony of induction of 2019 class into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 29th, 2019.
Nominated acts that didn’t make the cut for 2019 include Todd Rundgren, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus & Chaka Khan, MC5, LL Cool J, John Prine, Kraftwerk, and Devo.

]]>This year will see several newcomers as well as those who have been previously nominated be put up for the honor. In order to be eligible to enter the hall, artists must have a commercial record released 25 years ago.
The following artists who debuted in 1993 have been nominated:
Devo
Roxy Music
Stevie Nicks
Todd Rundgren
John Prine
Returning artists include:
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Janet Jackson
The Cure
Kraftwerk
MC5
Rufus
Chaka Khan
The Zombies.
Last year, The Cars, Bon Jovi, The Moody Blues, Dire Straits, and Nina Simone were all inducted while Radiohead and others were overlooked.
“As a British band, it’s one of those things that it’s very lovely to be nominated, but we don’t quite culturally understand it,” Ed O’Brien from Radiohead said. “It’s a very American thing. Us Brits are very bad at celebrating ourselves.”
