]]>Rodrigo embarked on the Guts World Tour back in February and performed a series of concerts across North America. The tour included four dates at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Noah Kahan hit the stage by Rodrigo’s side during one of the concerts.
The duo delivered an acoustic guitar version of Kahan’s breakout hit “Stick Season”, which became a viral hit in recent months and hit No. 1 in the UK. Kahan later took to social media to thank Rodrigo for inviting him to join her on stage, and described her as “a special talent”.
This isn’t the first time Rodrigo and Kahan expressed their admiration for each other. She previously performed a cover of “Stick Season” on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and Kahan returned the favor by delivering an emotional cover of her song “Lacy” during his appearance on the same show.
Two covers were released on a seven-inch colored vinyl as a Record Store Day special, and Rodrigo said she’s hoping for a collaboration with Kahan because she thinks he’s “very inspiring”.

As she opens the chorus with a cutting line, “I’m so obsessed with your ex,” we see she’s surrounded by a group of women in white dresses wearing similar sashes. They’re all exes of the same guy, with such titles as “Miss Thought She Was the One,” “Miss 2 Summers Ago”, and “Miss Mom’s Favorite”.
“Obsessed” was featured on some vinyl editions of Guts, and it became a fan favorite long before she dropped the album’s deluxe edition. Guts (Spilled) was released on March 22, and “Obsessed” is one of the four new songs featured on this album, alongside “Scared of My Guitar”, “Stranger”, and “Girl I’ve Always Been”.

]]>Olivia Rodrigo revealed that Pure Heroine was the first album she bought with her own money during The Hollywood Reporter’s recent Songwriters Roundtable, featuring Billie Eilish, Cynthia Erivo, Julia Michaels, Jon Batiste, and Dua Lipa.
The “Good 4 U” singer said this album changed the trajectory of her life with its relatable lyrics “that are just about being a teenager living in the suburbs.”
“I remember listening to it as I first started writing songs and just being blown away by her lyrics… I just remember never hearing my life be put into a song like that where it just made being young and doing these seemingly unimportant things feel so sacred,” said Rodrigo.
Pure Heroine was released in 2013 as Lorde’s debut album, and it went on to sell over five million copies worldwide. Its lead single “Royals” put the young New Zealand singer on the map, but this record also produced her hit songs “Tennis Court”, “Team” and “Glory and Gore”.

]]>Rodrigo was one of Clarkson’s final guests of 2023, and the talk show host couldn’t resist but gush about her amazing lyrics. One of the songs that came out during the show was “Lacy”, and Clarkson singled out “And I despise my jealous eyes and how hard they fell for you / Yeah, I despise my rotten mind and how much it worships you” as her favorite lyrics.
Rodrigo told Clarkson that it was “very emo of [her] writing that” and revealed how the lyrics for “Lacy” came together.
“I took a poetry class at USC… I wrote a poem called ‘Lacy’ for one of the assignments, and I really liked it. I’m like, ‘I’m gonna turn it into a song!’ so that’s sort of where that one came from,” explained Rodrigo.
“Lacy” captured Rodrigo’s obsession with another seemingly perfect female figure, and sparked speculations she wrote it about Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter. She previously told The Los Angeles Times that it’s “not classy” to reveal who the song is about, and added she likes “more creative answers to who Lacy is — like it’s a past version of myself or the voice in my head telling me I’m not good enough.”

Rodrigo kicked off her performance with the stripped-down version of the chart-topping single “Vampire”. She set behind a piano in a dazzling silver dress for a powerful rendition of this soaring ballad, and let her vocals shine with no background singers or other instruments to support her.
Just when we thought her second performance couldn’t possibly be any better, Rodrigo delivered a masterclass in female rage with the theatrical rendition of “All-American B—h”. From dramatically stabbing a cake and smearing it all over her face to chaotically dancing on a dinner table, she did a great job capturing the edgy energy of this pop-punk anthem and made us fall in love with it all over again.
