]]>The former Fifth Harmony singer has been working on her debut album since going solo in 2018, and she finally announced it back in February. She shared the album’s title and cover at the time, and her fans have been pushing her to give us more ever since.
She finally answered their prayers this Friday, when the lead single “1:59” ft. Gunna hit the shelves. She also announced that Dopamine would be released on June 14 via RCA Records.
Normani discussed the release of her debut album with Elle and revealed she went through several different titles, including Butterfly Effect and 1906, which was the address of her grandmother’s house where she was raised.
“Dopamine represents the highs and the lows I’ve endured. It’s been such an emotional roller coaster… I really wanted to have a title that felt like it definitely encompassed everything that I feel I’ve been through in my journey to get to the point that I’m in right now,” she explained.

]]>The wait for Normani’s debut album has been so long that it became somewhat of an inside joke with her fans. A month after announcing Dopamine’s title and cover, Normani didn’t share any additional information about its release, and her fans decided to react.
X user @knotBoots sent her a message reading, “Good morning Normani, Just wanted to follow up on this album announcement as I have not heard anything back as of yet.” Surprisingly enough, Normani decided to hit back, writing, “Hi, Thank you for your patience. This matter will be addressed tomorrow at 1:59 pm EST. – Management.”
A day later, Normani stayed true to her word, announcing that the first single from Dopamine, titled “1:59” will be released on April 26. The album itself still doesn’t have a release date, but it’s expected to hit the shelves later this year.
Normani’s debut solo album has been in the making ever since Fifth Harmony disbanded in 2018, and the singer previously described it as a representation of her evolution.

]]>Normani’s fans have been waiting for the young singer to release her solo album ever since Fifth Harmony split up in 2018. She gave us a glimpse of hope when she released her debut solo single “Motivation” in 2019, but the plans to release the rest of her solo album never materialized… until now.
Normani announced her solo album will be titled Dopamine, and it will be released by RCA later this year. She also shared the album cover, which shows her riding a black rocket ship against a white background.
This visual is quite a departure from the aesthetic she embraced in the music video for “Motivation”, but she previously told W Magazine this single won’t be representative of the whole album.
“I’m not always as bubblegum as ‘Motivation’ was, or as bubblegum as how people have perceived me to be from looking at that music video. So just imagine the flip side of that. It’s still going to be palatable for a wide audience. Nobody is going to feel left out,” said Normani at the time.

]]>The “Don’t Start Now” singer recently made a virtual appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and shared some exciting news about these two duets.
The singer revealed that her collaboration with Normani is coming “soon”, but we’ll have to wait to hear more details.
For her collaboration with Cyrus, we’ll have to wait a little bit longer because they want to take it into a new direction, and it’s unclear when they’re going to be able to head back to the studio again. “We actually ended up deciding that we wanted to get into the studio and do something different. But we actually haven’t had the chance to get back in and like work on something new, so hopefully, we’ll do something, I guess once quarantine is over and we can all hang out again,” Lipa told Cohen.

]]>The two singers joined forces on the new song “Diamonds”, after teasing their first collaboration together on social media. It was inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s iconic number “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”, and even sees Normani paying homage to the Hollywood legend in a glitzy pink dress.
The rest of the video features scenes from Birds of Prey and shows the duo rocking a bunch of outfits that prove they would fit right in this film. They are also holding a hammer and a baseball bat in several scenes, which just happen to be Harley Quinn’s signature weapons.
Birds of Prey is hitting theaters on February 7th, and its soundtrack will be coming out that same day. It will also feature songs from Doja Cat, Summer Walker, Halsey, and Normani’s former Fifth Harmony bandmate Lauren Jauregui.

]]>Leave it to Perry to start her act with a corny joke, “You love my nutcrackers and my balls?” and the stage was decorated with festive Christmas ornaments, tinsel, and a Christmas tree. Perry even came dressed for the event as a hot pink snowflake and her band wore Nutcracker outfits, while her back-up singers were nicely wrapped Christmas presents. The singer sang her new holiday song, “Cozy Little Christmas.”
Besides for their outfits coordinating so well, Smith wore a light pink matching top and chinos and Normai came in a pink silky sparkly dress, the duo seemed to be having the time of their life while performing “Dancing With A Stranger.” Before Normani joined Smith on stage, the back-up dancers, who were dressed in holiday red, made a circle around Smith and we couldn’t help but dance along.
The “Truth Hurts” singer literally slays every time she hits the stage and the Jingle Ball was no different. She looked every bit Mrs. Claus in her red and white Christmas cape, but she kept it Lizzo in her jean cut-offs and sparkly black top. Lizzo performed her hit “Good As Hell” and that’s exactly what we felt after seeing her on stage.

]]>Normani discussed her debut album during a recent appearance on The Zach Sang Show, and also touched upon her first solo single “Motivation”. This song gave her the opportunity to fully express herself, but there’s so much to her first album waiting to be discovered.
“I want to make sure this album is very dynamic. There are so many dimensions to me, not only as an artist but as a person – there are things that I want to talk about and emotions that I want to convey. [‘Motivation’ is] one portion of it for sure but there’s a whole more to be able to discover,” explained the former Fifth Harmony singer.
Normani also revealed that her debut album will feature a total of 14 tracks and that she’s done with half of them. It should hit the shelves sometime next year, but the title and release date are still a mystery.

]]>If you don’t pay close attention to this epic video, it may seem like another music video with elaborate choreography, but it’s so much more. It pays homage to some of the songs Normani listened to during her childhood, including “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé, “…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears and “I’m Real” by Jennifer Lopez.
The video even opens up with the younger version of Normani watching TV, and fantasizing she’ll once have “the number one video in the world”. She achieved that goal in our eyes since none of the other music videos we’ve seen last weekend doesn’t come close to “Motivation”.
This track is set to be featured on her debut album, and it was co-written by Ariana Grande. She sent a couple of sweet tweets to Normani after the song was released, telling her how proud she was of her success.

“She’s been very supportive of me too. I talk to her about the creative process. I’m like, ‘When did you know your album was done.’ She was just like, ‘Honestly, you’ll know. Nobody will have to tell you. You’ll feel it. Just trust your instinct; trust your gut,’” said Normani.
Normani described the track they worked on together as “a feel-good record”, and said she already filmed a music video about a month ago. “Motivation” is set to be released on August 16, and it will serve as the lead single on her upcoming debut album.
