]]>K-pop fans always had a special talent for helping their favorite artists top the charts. They tried to do it again with Twice’s new EP Ready to Be, which eventually debuted at no. 2 behind One Thing at a Time.
Despite giving us one of the defining songs of 2023 with “Flowers”, Cyrus’ latest album Endless Summer Vacation debuted at no. 3, but it managed to hit the top spot in the UK and Australia.
BTS’s Jimin scored the highest-charting album by a K-pop solo artist in Billboard chart history with his debut solo album Face, but he still had to settle for the no. 2 spot instead of topping the chart.
Lana Del Rey scored her biggest opening week since 2015 with her new album Ocean Blvd, which eventually debuted at no. 3 due to tough competition on the Billboard 200 chart.
Melanie Martinez created a lot of hype for her new concept album Portals. Despite scoring the biggest debut for a female soloist in 2023 so far, Portals still debuted at no. 2 behind Wallen’s latest LP.

]]>March 31 marked the release of some of the most anticipated albums of the whole month, including Chlöe’s debut solo LP In Pieces and Melanie Martinez’s concept album Portals. Both albums gave us about a dozen amazing new tracks, and we made sure to include them on our list.
If we had to pick our favorite new album of the week, Boygenius would take the cake. Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus finally shared their first joint album with the world and promoted its release with the short film “The Film”, which included three songs from this record.
Tyler, the Creator also surprised us with a new edition of his last album titled Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale, which features several new songs, including “Sorry Not Sorry”.
This week has also been great for fans of hip-hop, K-pop, and Latin music, with Quavo, Becky G, and Blackpink’s Jisooo making it to our list.

]]>“Void” was released just days ahead of her third studio album Portals, as the second single from this record following “Death”. Martinez is getting ready to shed her “Cry Baby” alter ego with this record, and enter a completely new territory, exploring the themes of life, death, and rebirth.
“All of the songs on this album are based on past life regression therapy books I’ve been reading for a few years now, particularly the in-between phase of death and life. All of them disguised with earthly themes for double/triple meaning, to create a frequency for humans to relate to while still here on earth,” said Martinez in a statement.
Martinez’s promo tour for the Portals has been pretty ominous. Her recent festival appearances saw her perform with heavy alien-like facial prosthetics, mimicking the look from the album’s cover.
Portals is the singer’s first album in four years, and it’s hitting the shelves on March 31. The standard edition will feature a total of 13 tracks, with singles “Death” and “Void” serving as its opening tracks.

]]>Taylor Swift is the mastermind when it comes to surprising her fans, and she celebrated the start of The Eras Tour by dropping four new songs. “All Of The Girls You Loved Before” made it to our list because it’s the only one we haven’t heard before.
It was also a huge week for Hozier, who celebrated his birthday by giving us a gift—his new EP Eat Your Young. It features three songs, each better than the last, but the title track created the most buzz.
This week also marked a huge comeback for the metal legends Avenged Sevenfold. They dropped their first single in five years titled “Nobody” and used it to tease the release of their eighth studio album, Life Is but a Dream….
Our list of best new songs of the week also includes new releases from Lana Del Rey, Nothing But Thieves, Princess Nokia, and Lewis Capaldi so check them out and pick your favorite!
