]]>Chaos Angel has been described as a deeply beautiful, meditative journey about falling in love, messing things up, and getting back on your feet. Hawke wanted to explore a more mature side of her songwriting on this LP, which will be released on May 31 via Mom+Pop and feature ten brand-new tracks.
The first single “Missing Out” was inspired by the real-life conversation that Hawke had with her brother and his friends at Brown about their dreams for the future, when one of the girls said she wishes to write the next great American novel.
“It was the moment where I felt older than everyone because I laughed so hard… Don’t wish to write the next great American novel, that’s a nightmare! It made me feel I actually am a different place in my life than these people I was around. It totally inspired this whole song,” said Hawke in a statement.

]]>Hawke wrote her first two songs “To Love a Boy“ and “Stay Open” alongside Grammy Award-winning songwriter Jesse Harris, and she’s currently plotting a full-length album, due to be released later this year.
“This is a passion project for me; I have loved singing, writing lyrics and music since I can remember. For the last two years, Jesse and I have worked on these songs, and we are really excited to finally share them with an audience,” said the multi-talented artist in a statement.
Her upcoming album isn’t the only thing keeping Maya Hawke busy right now. She recently appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, and landed key roles in dramas Mainstream and Human Capital.
