March is shaping up to be an epic month for new music releases, and every time we think we’ve seen it all, our favorite artists find a new way to surprise us. Our latest list of the best songs of the week is an embarrassment of riches, and it includes Chappell Roan, HAIM, Bon Iver, Matt Berninger, and many more.

Chappell Roan’s “The Giver” is definitely the most exciting new song of the week, and she really kept us waiting for its official release. She initially debuted her latest single during her appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live last November, before teasing it with a series of billboards that show her dressed as various career women.

It’s also been an amazing week for HAIM, who made an epic comeback with “Relationships”, their first song in three years. Danielle Haim also joined forces with Bon Iver for “If Only I Could Wait”, the latest single from the artist’s upcoming album Sable, Fable, set to be released on April 11.

The rest of our list includes an interesting mix of genres, from R&B to metal and alternative rock. Stick around to discover new music by Matt Berninger, Lizzo, Sleep Token, Lucy Dacus, and many more.

Matt Berninger recently shared more music from his solo work with his fans. The National’s frontman presented a track titled “Let It Be,” which will be part of the deluxe edition of his solo album Serpentine Prison.

Sharing a snippet of the song on social media, Berninger noted that this isn’t a cover of the Beatles’ classic but added that its co-writer Mike Brewer is considered “the Paul McCartney of southern Ohio.”

“Let It Be” is a ballad that’s easy on the ear and grows bolder as it progresses. It’s described as “a new song about an old frenemy” by Berninger. Hear it below.

Matt Berninger released Serpentine Prison, his first solo effort, back in October. The record received favorable reviews but failed to make waves on the commercial field, peaking at No. 161 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. It did, however, reached No.1 in Belgium and Portugal.

The deluxe version of Serpentine Prison is expected to become available in digital form on March 12th, while the vinyl form is already available for preorder. It will contain the original album as well as several new songs and four covers, including Velvet Underground’s “European Son” and Morphine’s “In Spite of Me.”

The National’s frontman Matt Berninger continues to have a busy year. After releasing a new album with his band earlier this year, Berninger now announced that his debut solo album is also coming soon.

Towards the end of the last week, Berninger went on Instagram, where he confirmed that he would be releasing a solo record produced by American multi-instrumentalist Booker T. Jones. The album will be called Serpentine Prison.

“More about it soon, but basically I’m the luckiest man in the universe with lots of brilliant friends who can play instruments,” Berninger wrote on social media. “Not worthy!”

As of now, there hasn’t been any follow-up information about the album, including the release date. But, considering that the project is wrapped up, we should expect more details soon.

This news comes after Berninger presented his solo single “Walking on a String.” The track, which features American indie-rock musician Phoebe Bridgers, was part of the soundtrack for the movie Between Two Ferns: The Movie. In case you missed it, check out the song below.
