“When he passed it shook the ground for the artist community,” said Thundercat in a statement. “Ty’s a strong dude and when he heard the song he knew exactly what it should be. I was there when he recorded it. We talked about what it was, and he did what he felt was right to it, and I love what he did.”
All three musicians worked extensively with Mac Miller, but Thundercat had a special connection with the Pittsburgh rapper. Thundercat was a producer on all of Miller’s studio albums and was also scheduled to accompany him on tour.
It Is What It Is will be Thundercat’s fourth full-length studio release. The record, preceded by singles “Black Qualls” and “Dragonball Durag,” will be out on April 3rd.

]]>Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life will take place at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on Halloween, 31st October. The list of confirmed acts includes Chance the Rapper, Vince Staples, Travis Scott, SZA, John Mayer, Thundercat, Earl Sweatshirt, Ty Dolla $ign, Miguel, Anderson.Paak, Action Bronson, and Schoolboy Q with more performers to be announced soon.

“The support we’ve experienced is evident in this amazing lineup and is a testament to Malcolm’s incredible life. His Father, brother, and I are beyond thankful to everyone who is working to make this concert happen along with every fan and every friend for continuing to support Malcolm and his vision,” said Mac Miller’s mother, Karen Meyers, in a statement after the event was announced. “He was a caring, loving human with a smile that could light up the sky and a soul that was out to make the world a kinder place and the MMCF will continue to do just that.”
The Mac Miller Circles Fund was created by his family to celebrate Miller’s commitment to the arts. It will provide “programming, resources, and opportunities to youth from underserved communities” while also helping them “recognize their full potential through exploration in the arts and community building.”
