I was there when he recorded it. We talked about what it was, and he did what he felt was right to it, and I love what he did.”

All three musicians worked extensively with Mac Miller, but Thundercat had a special connection with the Pittsburgh rapper. Thundercat was a producer on all of Miller’s studio albums and was also scheduled to accompany him on tour.

 It Is What It Is will be Thundercat’s fourth full-length studio release. The record, preceded by singles “Black Qualls” and “Dragonball Durag,” will be out on April 3rd.
