]]>The young singer really turned up the heat with this visual, which shows her dancing her heart out to the beat of this catchy tune. She can be seen sporting a series of different outfits and hairstyles throughout the video, like the pop stars of the highest caliber.
Mad Love serves as the second single from her upcoming album High Expectations, which is set to come out on August 2nd. The British hit-maker discussed this record in a recent interview with Glamour and revealed what we can expect when it comes out.
“Musically I have always been into ‘90s slow jams, ‘90s R&B, the first Destiny’s Child album, and Lauryn Hill – there are references to that on the record, but it’s been so much more upbeat than I expected which says a lot about where I am in my life right now,” explained Mabel.

]]>This catchy tune has overtaken radio waves in the last few months, and it became Mabel’s first no. 1 hit on the R&B chart in her home country. The young singer also managed to make it to Billboard Top 40, proving the world she has the potential to be an international star.
“Don’t Call Me Up” has been hailed as the “New Rules” of 2019, since it celebrates the art of letting go of your ex in the same way Dua Lipa’s hit did two years ago. The success of this song took Mabel by surprise since it feels quite unreal to hear your song everywhere you go.
“It’s really insane. I think when you’re sort of in the eye of the storm, it’s such a difficult feeling to grasp. Obviously, I’m so excited and stoked to be here… It’s definitely something that I’ve wanted for a long time,” said the young star while discussing her success with Billboard.
“Don’t Call Me Up” put Mabel on everyone’s radar, but it’s not her first big hit in the UK. A collaboration with Kojo Funds, “Finders Keepers”, was her first single to make it to top 10 on R&B chart in this country, and “My Lover” and “Fine Line” managed to do the same.

]]>The decision follows backlash that the festival has not included enough female artists in the lineup. Out of the 37 acts which were announced back in January, only three women (Mabel, Cardi B and Lisa Mercedez) were included. This means that of all the artists, only 8% were female.
Attention was drawn to this issue after Lily Allen tweeted a photo of the festival poster with all the male acts removed.

Regarding the issue, Festival Republic director Melvin Benn told Newsbeat that Wireless had originally approached more than 20 female acts who were unable to perform due to other commitments.
“We’d love to see more female acts on the festival roster in the future, however, there is a bigger industry issue at the heart of the debate on line-up diversity, with fewer female acts available at all levels,” he said.
“One of the ways Festival Republic is working to combat this problem is through our ReBalance campaign, which offers female artists studio time, mentorship, a spot on a festival line-up and much more.”
The new stage will include other female acts such as Lily Mercer, AMZ and Girld of Grime. The stage is a collaboration with Rinse FM and Smirnoff Equalising Music – a three-year campaign to increase female representation in club and festival line ups by 2020.
