]]>This all-female festival was initially scheduled to take place in June, but it ended up being rescheduled to August 18th after a couple of delays. Cat Power and Courtney Love headlined the event alongside Li, and the lineup also included rising stars Megan Thee Stallion, Sophie, and Cupcakke.
In addition to featuring female performers, this festival was organized by the I Follow Rivers singer and her friend Yola Jimenez and also welcomed women chefs, mixologists, artists, and speakers.
Lykke Li made it clear it was never an attempt to exclude anyone, but to put the emphasis on amazing work created by female artists. “I definitely want to emphasize that this is a festival where we highlight women, but it’s not a festival for only women. This is really a place to connect… I think so much in the world now is about technology and disconnection, so [this is] just a place to be present,” Li told Rolling Stone.

]]>Olivia Wilde made her directorial debut on a $6 million budget, and getting the rights to chart-topping party jams was a mission impossible. That didn’t hurt her prospects one bit, since the limited budget allowed her to dig deep and discover amazing tracks by alternative artists, including Kelsey Lu, Lizzo and Lykke Li.
Booksmart is filled with girl power anthems that perfectly suit its general spirit, but its standout song comes from an unexpected place. This teen comedy features a karaoke scene, which is a major turning point for one of the lead characters, and it wouldn’t work without Alanis Morissette classic “You Oughta Know”.
Wilde originally filmed the scene using the karaoke version of the song, but something just wasn’t working. She feared it would be expensive to get the rights, and that’s when she decided to pen a heartfelt letter, asking Morissette for permission to use her song.
“I just said how much she had meant to me in my youth and when I was in high school – ‘Jagged Little Pill’ in particular. Her strength as a woman and an artist and her singularity had really inspired me,” said Wilde for Huffington Post.

]]>The euphoric video for Ronson’s latest “sad banger” mostly focuses on Li and shows her dancing around and obsessing over countless photos of Ronson plastered around her apartment. She finally gets to live her dream of being close to him, since the end of the video shows them performing together.
“Late Night Feelings” is the title track from Ronson’s upcoming fifth studio album, which is scheduled to be released on June 21. This record will feature collaborations with several acclaimed female artists, including Camila Cabello, Miley Cyrus, and Alicia Keys.
“When you’re making a record, you’re making 30 songs just to get the best 10 or 12, so the stuff that was resonating, the strongest and the best stuff, all happened to be with a group of female collaborators,” Ronson explained while chatting with Rashida Jones for Interview Magazine.

]]>Late Night Feelings is hitting the shelves on June 21, and Ronson previously described it as an album of “sad bangers” and the hardest thing he’s ever worked on. He picked his collaborators accordingly and went with people who were able to vibe with him on a personal level.
“That’s kind of what made the collaborators on this record – more so than choosing a person for a musical style – they were all like-minded people or people who were going through some traumatic personal stuff,” explained Mark Ronson while discussing his new album with BBC.

Swedish musician Lykke Li will be in charge of headlining this amazing musical event, but she’s not the only big name on the ticket. Lineup also includes Charli XCX, Cat Power and Courtney Love.
More artists are yet to be announced, and we can’t wait to see how this festival develops in the future. We’re really hoping it’s not a one-time thing since it actually supports a pretty noble cause. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles.
