“I think one song doesn’t define a career. But definitely there’s a before and an after and I realize that, and I will always be happy to sing it, and it will always bring me back to a special time,” said Fonsi in a recent interview with Billboard.

]]>Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars lead the pack with 15 nominations each, followed by Post Malone with 12 nods and Imagine Dragons with 10. Justin Bieber and Cardi B got eight nominations each, while Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, the duo behind the smashing hit “Despacito,” racked up seven nominations.
According to the official statement, “Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of April 8, 2017, through March 31, 2018.”
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards will take place on May 20th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, with singer Kelly Clarkson serving as a host.
