Karol G has been on fire this past year, and she’s finally reaping the fruits of her labor. The Latina American Music Awards returned to Las Vegas on Thursday, and Karol G was crowned as the biggest winner of the night with six trophies, including artist, song, and album of the year.

Karol G faced tough competition in Bad Bunny, Shakira, Rauw Alejandro, and the night’s most-nominated artists Feid and Peso Pluma in the race for the artists of the year, but managed to defeat them all and take the trophy home.

To make the whole thing even more impressive, this wasn’t the only major award she collected. Mañana Será Bonito won her the coveted award for the album of the year, while her viral hit “TQG” ft. Shakira was named the song of the year, beating Shakira’s own “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”.

Karol G also won trophies for global Latin artist of the year, favorite urban artist, and favorite urban album with Mañana Será Bonito. Feid was also one of the major winners of the night with six awards, including collaboration of the year for “Yandel 150” ft. Yandel.

The 2024 Latin American Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on April 25, with Thalía, Alejandra Espinoza, Becky G, and Carlos Ponce serving as co-hosts.

It’s been less than a decade since Ozuna started his rise to stardom, but he’s already one of the biggest Latin stars in the world. That’s why the masterminds behind the Latin American Music Awards decided to reward him with a special achievement—the Extraordinary Evolution Award.

According to Latin AMAs’ official statement, this special award is meant to reflect change, growth, and speed in a career of a young artist who achieved accelerated success over a short period of time, and Ozuna perfectly fits this description.

The “Caramelo” singer won six Latin AMAs over the years, starting with the best new artist of the year in 2017. He’s also a recipient of two Latin Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Latin Music Awards, and many other prestigious honors.

Ozuna will pick up his Extraordinary Evolution Award at this year’s Latin AMAs, taking place on April 15th. J Balvin and Karol G  topped the list of nominees with a total of nine nominations each, but Ozuna is among the top contenders with seven nods, including the artist of the year.

J Balvin’s notable nominations also include song of the year with Black Eyed Peas collaboration “Ritmo” and album of the year with Colores. Karol G is also one of the artists in the running for song of the year with the chart-topping single “Tusa” featuring Nicki Minaj.

When it comes to the rest of the nominees, Bad Bunny ranked pretty well with eight nominations, while Ozuna followed closely with seven. The winners will be announced on April 15th, when the Latin AMAs will take place at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

The world’s leading Latin artists will soon get their moment to shine at the Latin American Music Awards, and we finally know who’s in the running for this accolade. The list of contenders is out, and J Balvin and Karol G came on top with nine nominations each.

They both scored nominations in the artist of the year category, but they’ll have to face some pretty tough competition. This category includes a total of ten contenders, and Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Maluma, and Ozuna are only some of the artists in the running.
