]]>Novoselic will naturally play the bass on the show while the vocal will be performed by several singers that will try to fill Jim Morrison’s shoes. Among the singers are Dave Stewart from Eurythmics, Haley Reinhart, and Micah Nelson.
The set will be about 30 minutes long and the setlist is still to be decided. Densmore, who is usually responsible for setting the setlist for The Doors’ shows, said he is used to “wing it.”
“Corralling musicians is like corralling cats,” he said.
Apart from The Doors and Novoselic, The Homeward Bound Charity Concert will feature other big names such as Jason Mraz, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Ingrid Michaelson with Maddie Poppe. The concert revenues will go towards the fight against homelessness throughout California.
“This homelessness thing, it’s a problem in every city; it’s a huge problem. It’s not just L.A., it’s everywhere. And why is that? Because the gap between the rich and the poor is the biggest in the history of our country. There’s big problems; you can’t just put a band-aid on it,” said Densmore.

]]>The set that the band performed at Seattle’s Pier 48, alongside their unplugged set on MTV, is considered to be one of the best shows played by the band. It consists of 17 songs and was initially performed after the release of In Utero, the last studio album of the band. It contains songs such as “Scentless Apprentice,” “Pennyroyal Tea,” “Rape Me,” “Serve the Servants,” “Sliver,” “Heart Shaped Box” and other songs from the album. The only song from the show that hadn’t made its way to YouTube is their cover of David Bowie’s song The Man Who Sold the World.
It is not the first time this performance became available to the fans. It was included on the 2013 special release of the deluxe edition of In Utero which was released in honor of the album’s 20th anniversary. Earlier this year, Grohl and Novoselic announced that it will also be made available on streaming services.

This mini-Nirvana reunion wasn’t an accident. Krist Novoselic came at Safeco Field with his new band Giants in the Trees and played as an opening act for Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters.
If you are bummed out for missing out on this epic reunion, don’t worry. There might be a chance for this to happen once again in the near future. On October 16th, Novoselic will be with Giants in the Trees at Cal Jam 2018, music festival curated by Grohl so they could easily do one of Nirvana oldies for fun once again. Fingers crossed!
