Tate McRae gave us one of the biggest viral hits of 2023 with “Greedy” and her amazing dance skills were on full display in this electrifying live performance.

]]>This week marked the release of new albums by several female vocalists we all know and love, including Kelly Clarkson, Kim Petras, and Coi Leray. All of their albums are worth keep listening to in full, but we had to stick to picking one song from each.
Highly-anticipated soundtracks for The Idol and Barbie have also given us two of the strongest candidates for song of the week. The Weeknd joined forces with Lily-Rose Depp and Blackpink’s Jennie for “One of the Girls”, while Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice put their own hip-hop-infused twist on Aqua’s iconic song “Barbie Girl” with their new collaboration “Barbie World”.
It’s also been a great week for Latin music, with Anitta, Rauw Alejandro, and Bizarrap making the cut. Fans of alternative music won’t be disappointed by our list, either, because we’re bringing you new tracks by Hozier, Beck, and Portugal. The Man.

]]>“Stars Are Blind” was originally released as a single from Hilton’s debut studio album Paris in 2006, and it made a huge comeback in recent years. It was prominently featured in the 2020 movie Promising Young Woman, and Hilton recently performed it live alongside Miley Cyrus at Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party.
Petras recorded a solo cover of “Stars Are Blind” back in 2020, and Hilton gave her a seal of approval, saying that the cover is so beautiful that it made her cry. This duo actually goes way back, and Hilton even starred in the music video for Petras’ debut international single “I Don’t Want It All”.
“I didn’t really have a budget, so her agreeing to be in it was amazing… I had just put out a single, and ever since then she has just kind of been a little bit of a fairy godmother to me. She just really gets it and has been saying such nice things about my music and posting my music,” Patras told Variety last year.

]]>Feed the Beast will feature several songs that we’ve already got to hear, including the lead single “Alone” featuring Nicki Minaj. Previously released songs “Coconuts” and “Brrr” will also be featured on this record, along with the Sam Smith collaboration “Unholy”, which won them a Grammy for best pop duo/group performance.
Petras really kept her fans waiting for her major studio debut. The singer admitted that she had to scrap an entire album, developed under the working title Problématique, after it was leaked because it didn’t reflect where she is right now.
“That original album got me through the pandemic. But I also realized in that process that I was just doing what I always do; I was writing escapist pop songs about wanting to get away from everything… I love that, but I’m at a different place now,” she told Billboard.
Feed the Beast will be released on June 23 through Amigo and Republic. It marks the singer’s major studio debut, and it follows the release of her mixtape Clarity and compilation album Turn Off the Light.

Petras is yet to share further detail about this LP, but it’s safe to expect it will feature her recent singles “Brrr” and “Alone” ft. Nicki Minaj.
Petras has been working on her new album for three years now, and she told Vice that she’s really excited for her fans to hear what she has in store.
“I have an album that’s coming out this summer, and some singles that I’m really, really excited about… It’s been a transition – wow I’m really good at transitioning. It’s been a transition from being an independent artist to being at a major label now.”
Feed the Beast will mark Petras’ first album with a major label, and it was preceded by her compilation albums Turn Off the Lights and The Summer I Couldn’t Do Better and mixtape Clarity.

Petras dreamt about collaborating with the hip-hop star for years, and said it still feels unreal hearing her rap, “It’s Barbie and it’s Kim Petras.” Filming this music video by her side and seeing her go into full superstar mode was an unforgettable experience for the rising German star.
“She just turns [the superstar mode] on so effortlessly and it’s amazing to watch, and she was so nice to me and the dancers and everyone and was just really inspiring to see and to watch, and she was super encouraging and we just had a blast, so it was the best thing ever,” Petras told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

Nicki Minaj and Kim Petras finally dropped their long-awaited collaboration “Alone”, The Weeknd and Future continued their partnership with “Double Fantasy”, and Snoop Dogg hopped on Bebe Rexha’s “Satellite”.
This week has given us countless epic new tracks, but it’s been pretty slow for album releases. BTS’s Suga aka August D is the only artist expect to make any real impact on the charts with his new solo album D-Day and single “Haegeum”.
Our favorite female vocalists and rappers kept impressing us this week and delivered some new tracks we’ll be listening to on repeat, from Kali Uchis’s “Moonlight” and GloRilla’s “Unh Unh” to Florence and the Machine’s dreamy new track “Mermaids”.

Måneskin has given us 17 songs on their third studio album Rush! and they all deserve a spot on our list, but we’re going with “Bla Bla” since we got to hear four singles before the album hit the shelves, including “Gossip” ft. Tom Morello from last week.
This week has been amazing for alternative releases overall, with new songs from The National and Boygenius hitting the shelves. Fall Out Boy also made an epic comeback this week and teased their new album So Much (for) Stardust with lead single “Love from the Other Side”.

]]>“Unholy” initially debuted at No. 3 on the chart, but dethroned Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit” to reach no. 1 this week. By doing so, it became the first song by an openly trans performer (Petras) and openly non-binary artist (Smith) to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Unholy” was released on September 22, as the lead single from Smith’s upcoming fourth studio album Gloria. Before reaching No. 1 in the US, this collaboration already topped the charts in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand.
Smith previously described “Unholy” as their “first non-heartbreak album” and the celebration of queer joy and expressed gratitude to fans for helping it reach No. 1.
“This song is so special to me for so many reasons. And I am just so proud of everyone involved for their bravery and guts and spirit. And Kim… What magic you are. You are a treasure and an inspiration to so many. Thank you for jumping with me,” said Smith in a statement.
