The start of July has been pretty slow for new music releases, but some of our favorite artists decided to roll up their sleeves and give us some amazing new songs. From Quavo and Lana Del Rey to Childish Gambino and Kesha, we’re bringing you ten songs that rocked our world this week.

In a pretty slow week for new major releases, no new song created as much buzz as “Tough”. The collaboration between Quavo and Lana Del Rey is an unexpected but welcomed surprise, and it serves as an introduction to Del Rey’s upcoming country-themed album Lasso.

Speaking of new albums, Kasabian returned with Happenings this Friday, and “Italian Horror” emerged as one of its best songs. The country star Zach Bryan shared his new studio album The Great American Bar Scene, which has given us several amazing collaborations and his next big fit “28”.

This week marked the return of Childish Gambino with “Lithonia”, from his upcoming soundtrack album Bando Stone & the New World. Kesha also made a comeback with her first single of 2024, the electropop banger “Joyride”.

Beabadoobee, Jessie Ware, Romy, Killer Mike, OneRepublic, and Lainey Wilson also made it to our list, so buckle up to discover their new music.

Our favorite artists flocked to the BET Awards on Sunday night, and some of them walked away with much-deserved accolades. Tyla, Usher, and Victoria Monét collected two trophies each, while Killer Mike won the award for album of the year.

Killer Mike’s Michael was one of the contenders for album of the year along with the likes of Jaguar II by Victoria Monét, Coming Home by Usher, Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj, For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition by Drake, and eventually defeated them all to take the biggest award of the night home.

Despite losing the album of the year award, Victoria Monét still emerged as one of the BET Awards’ biggest winners and walked away with the coveted video of the year award for “On My Mama”. She defeated tough competition in “Bongos” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, “Agora Hills” by Doja Cat, “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, and “First Person Shooter” by Drake and J. Cole, among others. This song also won her BET Her Award.

Tyla was named the best new artist and best international act, winning two trophies. It was also Usher’s night to shine and he attended the ceremony as this year’s recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award, in addition to being named best male R&B/pop artist.

The 2024 BET Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on June 30, with Taraji P. Henson returning as a host.

Tom Morello is taking time off from his supergroup Prophets of Rage and focusing on a new solo album. Titled The Atlas Underground, the album will be released on October 12th and feature an unreal lineup of guests.

For this project, Morello recruited an all-star bunch of rappers and producers including Big Boi, RZA, Killer Mike, Steve Aoki and Bassnectar. Also set to make an appearance on The Atlas Underground are Portugal. the Man, Whethan, GZA, Gary Clark Jr., K. Flay, Pretty Lights, Marcus Mumford, Tim McIlrath, Carl Restivo, Nico Stadi, Leikeli47, and Herobust.

Alongside the announcement, the 54-year-old musician also revealed a trailer for the record alongside one of the songs, “We Don’t Need You” featuring Vic Mensa.

“I’ve been devoted both musically and as an activist to fighting injustice at every turn,” said Morello in a statement. “Amid this heightened sense of impending doom, it’s now time to rally the troops in a last-ditch effort to save the planet, and our artistic souls. By challenging the boundaries of what music is and has sounded like before, you can open peoples’ eyes to changing the status quo in society.”
