]]>The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s were a popular indie rock group back in the early 2000s and Karen O’s feminine power earned the group a string of diehard fans. Their 2003 single “Maps” appeared on their debut album and even now, it’s the track that fans most want to hear during live performances.
In a new interview with BBC Radio 6’s The First Time, Karen O has claimed to be “fascinated” by “Maps” and the iconic tune it has become.
“I’m endlessly curious about that song because it’s just strange to me,” she told Matt Everitt. “It was one of the earliest songs that we wrote for the [first] record. I remember it was like a daydream making that song; it just happened so kinda effortlessly and so incidentally.”
She went on to explain how the track is one that “wrote itself in like five minutes.” After she heard guitarist Nick Zinner, they busted the whole thing out pretty quickly.
She continued: “And then yeah, it’s done pretty well for itself since then. It’s a love song, and there’s just not a lot of bands that have one of their biggest songs as a love song. So I’m pretty stoked about that, too.”

]]>The actor told USA Today: “It genuinely does have an incredibly good soundtrack. I completely forgot, but the soundtracks were quite ahead of their time.”
He also shared his thoughts on the movie receiving a second wave of fans over ten years after the first feature of the franchise was released.
“It seems like with younger people in their late teens, early 20s, it’s sort of become quite a hip thing to like,” he said. “It’s a fascinating second wave of people appreciating it, which is kind of cool. I think when anything becomes a massive phenomenon, there’s always people who get annoyed because it’s just everywhere. But now it seems like a retro thing: the soundtrack, the fashion. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s so late 2000s.’”
So if you’re wondering what to listen to this afternoon, why not revisit the Twilight soundtrack? You’ll find Muse, Radiohead and Karen O among many other great artists of the 2000s.

]]>The cover is taken from the soundtrack of Amazon Prime’s new series Hanna, which is scheduled for premiere in early February.
Karen O’s rendition of “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” is a lot different from Smashing Pumpkins’ original, since it has much more electronic sound with the track’s recognizable bassline and guitars being replaced with synths. You can check the song below.
While Smashing Pumpkins’ fans ended up being divided on Karen O’s cover, the band loved it and called it “beautiful” in a post on Twitter.
Besides the Hanna soundtrack, the 40-year-old vocalist was also occupied with working on her second album with musician and producer Danger Mouse. After 2014’s Crush Songs, the duo will return in 2019 with their second studio album Lux Prima.
While enjoying her other projects, it seems like the fans of Karen O are hoping for the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ album. This, however, doesn’t seem likely to happen anytime soon. While the band has sporadically performed and did live shows in the past several years, they haven’t released new music since 2013 and LP Mosquito.
