The iHeartRadio Music Awards returned to Los Angeles on Monday night, gathering some of our favorite artists. Taylor Swift was crowned as the ceremony’s biggest winner with six awards, but SZA was right behind, winning song of the year with “Kill Bill”.

Swift came into the night with nine nominations and eventually managed to take six trophies home. She was named artist of the year, defeating SZA, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Usher, and Morgan Wallen.

She picked up five more prizes, including pop artist of the year, best lyrics for “Is It Over Now?”, TikTok Bop of the year for “Cruel Summer”, tour of the year, and favorite tour style for The Eras Tour.

It was also a big night for SZA, who won the night’s biggest award, song of the year, with her smash hit “Kill Bill”, beating the tough competition in Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”. She came out victorious in three more categories, including R&B artist of the year, R&B album of the year with SOS, and R&B song of the year with “Snooze”.

Usher is one of the artists we really miss seeing in the spotlight, but it seems like 2020 will be his year to shine. The R&B superstar is starting the new decade on a high note – by hosting and performing at the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Awards.

This award show will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on March 29th and Usher seems to be as pumped about it as the rest of us. “I’m so excited to host the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards and help celebrate the music that I and millions of other music lovers listened to this past year. It’ll be like hanging out with old friends,” said the “Yeah!” singer in a statement.

Usher isn’t one of the nominees at this ceremony, but his hosting spot makes a lot of sense. In addition to being one of the most charismatic stars in the world, he has a new album on the way.

Confessions 2 still doesn’t have a release date, but he recently dropped Summer Walker collaboration “Come Thru” and new song “Don’t Waste My Time” featuring Ella Mai.

2019 has been a stellar year for Billie Eilish and her award nominations are still pouring in. The young singer is in the running for seven iHeartRadio Music Awards, and she’s closely followed by Lil Nas X and Lizzo who scored six nominations each.

The ceremony will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on March 29th, and Tom Poleman, chief programming officer for iHeartMedia, is looking forward to seeing the nominated artists in one place.

“This year’s nominees represent the music heard all year on our stations and the iHeartRadio app. We can’t wait to bring them together for one incredible night of celebration and see who takes home the award in all thirty-plus categories,” Poleman said in a statement.

The winners at a few categories will be chosen by the public, and the list of socially voted categories includes best lyrics, best cover song, and newly introduced best music video choreography.

Another awards ceremony came and went, and proved to the world that Ariana Grande is still on the top of her game. The young hit-maker took home three shiny trophies at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.

In addition to being named the best artist of the year, Grande also came out victorious in additional two categories – best female artist of the year and best pop album of the year with Sweetener. She was also one of performers at this year’s ceremony, and everyone in attendance was moved by her powerful rendition of latest single “Needy”

Newcomer Ella Mai was also one of the big winners of the night. She took home three main awards in the R&B categories – best artist, best new artist and best song of the year.

Taylor Swift also walked away with three awards and used her acceptance speech to address rumors about her next album. “I love your passion, I love your attention to detail, I love how much you care. I love seeing all the things you’re posting online. I just wanted to let you know that when there is new music, you will be the first to know.”

Cardi B was a front runner at several award ceremonies in 2018, and it seems that’s not going to change in a new year. The list of contenders for the iHeartRadio Music Awards has just been unveiled, and she led the way once again.

Cardi received a total of 13 nods, which doesn’t come as a surprise since she was literally everywhere last year. She’ll be competing against herself in several categories, thanks to the success of her smash hits Finesse, Girls Like You and I Like It. Drake is second in line with a total of eight nods, while Post Malone came in third with five.

This year’s ceremony will take place on March 14 and the president of iHeartMedia Entertainment Enterprises John Sykes has a feeling it’s going to be the best one yet.

“It’s no secret why this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards nominees are a Who’s Who of music. These are the artists and the songs iHeartRadio listeners couldn’t get enough of this past year. It’s going to be an unforgettable show,” said Sykes.
