]]>Saviors debuted at No. 1 with 31,361 album-equivalent units during its first week on the chart. It’s their fifth album to top the charts in the UK, following the success of American Idiot (2004), 21st Century Breakdown (2009), Revolution Radio (2016) and Father of All… (2020).
Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong said they’re “really, truly grateful” to everyone who made this success possible in a statement to Official Charts.
“We’re so excited about our future, about our album Saviors, and just want to thank all the fans everywhere; the most important people to us! Fans, friends, family, whatever you want to call it. It’s been an amazing run for us so far, for decades, and we love you all,” said Armstrong.
Green Day dropped Saviors on January 19, and they’re planning to promote it with a tour across North America and Europe this spring and summer. In addition to Saviors, they’ll perform their classic albums Dookie and American Idiot in their entirety during this tour.

]]>Our favorite artists are slowly going back to sharing their new albums with the world, and Green Day’s Saviors is definitely this week’s most exciting new release. They teased it with several singles, and ’90s-inspired “Bobby Sox” might be one of the very best.
This week has also been pretty epic for fans of alternative sound, with several of our favorite bands sharing new music with the world. Everyone from Bleachers and IDLES to Cage the Elephant and The Libertines have been busy in the studio in recent months, and they’re finally ready to show us what they’ve been up to.
Several indie-leaning collaborations also hit the shelves this week. Noah Kahan joined forces with Sam Fender for the new version of “Homesick”, while Mumford & Sons partnered up with Pharrell Williams for “Good People”, their first single in years.

]]>The group announced on social media that they intend to play Dookie and American Idiot in full on every show during The Saviors Tour alongside “a bunch of your other favorites, new and old, all summer long.” The tour, which kicks off in May, will see the band perform 43 shows in Europe and North America.
Released in 1994, Dookie is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. It is an album that put Green Day on the map and is often considered one of the greatest records in punk music. The record features songs like “Basket Case”, “Longview”, and “When I Come Around”.
American Idiot, on the other hand, turned 20 in 2024. It was a hit among the critics and audience, becoming the band’s first release that topped the US Billboard 200. It contained hits like “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”
Green Day will officially release Saviors, their 14th studio album, on January 19. The early reviews of the record are positive, while the band is billing it as the “best of everything that Green Day has.”
“Whether it’s something from Dookie or American Idiot, I think somehow we were able to bridge the gap in making something that is like an essential record for us,” Billie Joe Armstrong shared in a recent interview.

]]>Despite giving us many amazing new songs, this week has been pretty slow in terms of new album releases. That didn’t stop Lewis Capaldi from dropping an extended edition of his sophomore album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, which features five brand-new tracks, including “Strangers”.
Several songs on our list serve as the intrude for some of the most highly-anticipated new albums hitting the shelves this winter. That happens to be the case with “One Eyed Bastard” from Green Day’s Saviors and “Caesar on a TV Screen” from The Last Dinner Party’s Prelude to Ecstasy.
As for the rest of our list this week, we made sure to include a perfect mix of different genres, so everyone can find a song that suits their taste. Country fans can discover new music by Gabby Barrett, hip-hop lovers will enjoy 24kGoldn’s “Good Intentions”, while those who prefer Latin sound can vibe to Luis R Conriquez and Peso Pluma.

]]>Armstrong recently set down for an interview with The Guardian alongside his bandmates Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool. At one point, they were asked how they felt about the revival of 90s/00s punk and emo music in the last few years, and the Green Day frontman shared some interesting thoughts.
“I think streaming and the way things go viral now [is fuelling it]… Emo was dead – then just five years later we’re having emo club nights. Like, aren’t you supposed to wait another five years for this? My Chemical Romance just broke up!” joked Armstrong.
He singled out The Walters and Deftones as two bands whose emo-leaning music experienced a huge boom after their songs started showing up in TikTok videos. He added that there’s “this new algorithmic way of discovering new stuff”, where people are paying less attention to radio and other traditional platforms.
Green Day’s next album Saviors will be released on January 19, 2024, and it was preceded by singles “The American Dream Is Killing Me”, “Look Ma, No Brains!”, and “Dilemma”.

]]>Nicki Minaj’s long-awaited album Pink Friday 2 finally hit the shelves this week, and it was worth the wait! This album has given us countless epic songs, but “Pink Friday Girls”, which samples Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, is definitely one of the standouts.
Tate McRae also knocked it out of the park with her sophomore album “Think Later”. The Canadian singer is living up to the title of the next pop princess, and “Run for the Hills” is one of the best songs that her second studio album has in store.
This week has also been amazing for fans of R&B, with Griff’s “Astronaut”, Tems’s “Not An Angel”, and “Risk It All” by Usher and H.E.R. from The Color Purple making it to our list.
New songs by Alec Benjamin, Green Day, Fletcher, Peso Pluma, and Anitta also made the cut, so stick around to hear them out!

]]>The iconic punk rock band announced the release of Saviors just last month, and described it as “an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years.”
The album announcement was accompanied by the release of the lead single “The American Dream Is Killing Me”, which looks at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people and it’s hurting them instead.
“Look Ma, No Brains!” was released as the album’s second single on November 2, and Green Day now took a social media to share a photo of the album’s back cover that reveals its tracklist. The first two singles will open the album, which will feature a total of 15 songs, including the title track “Saviors”, “Coma City”, “Suzie Chapstick”, and “Fancy Sauce”.
Savior will hit the shelves on January 19, 2024, and they’ll promote it with the tour across North America alongside The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas.

]]>We can count on Swift to create a commotion every time she shares a new re-recording of her old albums with the world, and she’s done it once again with 1989. “S-ut!” was released as it’s lead single, and she revealed that she liked this song so much that she even considered leaving it on the original album instead of one of her biggest hits, “Blank Space”.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) pretty much overshadowed every album that hit the shelves this week, but some of them still managed to make it to our list. Brent Faiyaz made quite a splash with Larger Than Life and gave us several amazing collaborations including “Outside All Night” ft. A$AP Rocky & N3WYRKLA. Music from new albums by The Kills, Jay Wheeler, and Poppy also made the cut.
We also made sure to include new songs by The Kid LAROI, Rema, Green Day, Mary J. Blige, and Alec Benjamin, and it’s up to you to pick your favorite.
